Story
I am a shy but sweet pup looking for a loving family to call my own. I can be a bit nervous when first meeting new people, but once I know I can trust you, I will begin to let my guard down and show you just how wonderful I truly am! I am a big baby who craves attention and will paw at you and beg you to pet me and give me scratchies (I really love scratchies, especially right between my eyes). I like to think that I'm a lap dog and will half crawl in your lap to give hugs, snuggles, and maybe even sneak some kisses to the people I trust most. I did live with other dogs in my previous home, but as always a meet and greet is required if there are other pups in your home to be sure we can get along. My shelter family thinks I would do best in a home with older kiddos (12+) who are able to understand and respect my boundaries, but again a meet and greet will be required if there are kiddos in the home. If you think we could be a good match, ask to meet me!

Story
Looking for a ladies man? Look no further, cause I'm just what you need! My shelter family has come to learn that I am not the biggest fan of men. While they are not certain, they do think that a man must not have been so kind to me at some point, which has made trusting men a bit hard for me. I have come to learn to trust a couple of guys with alot of time, patience, and consistant work. It does take me a while to become comfortable with men, and I NEED a person who fully understands that. With that being said, I am in search of a strong, single woman, who only needs one man (me) in her life, or a very confident woman that is willing to put in the time, effort, and training necessary to help me learn how to trust any men that may come into her life in the future. I promise once im confortable with my people i am just a big ol goofy goober! I have played well with other pups I've met so far, and might like a friend in my new home. A meet and greet is always required if you have other dogs in the home to be sure we all get along. My shelter family says I would do best in an adult only home 18+, so no kiddos for me! If you think you might be interested in adopting me, stop on in and ask to meet me!

Story
This is Griffin! ** approved application required for meet and greet** Intake Date: 11/13/24 Intake type: Surrender DOB: 11/18/2023 Gender: Neutered Male Handsome, intelligent, loyal, Griffin checks all those boxes! Griffin is a special pup who will require a special home. He is an extremely active guy and is always on the go, playing fetch, chasing his herding ball, or enjoying a swim. Griffin needs a family who is able to give him plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to keep him happy and healthy! Griffin's ideal home is one preferably in the country with lots of private land for fun supervised adventures, and a secure fenced in yard where he could safely hang out outside as he pleases and come inside when he's ready. Griffin is extremely loyal to his people, but will require slow, supervised introductions so he can learn to trust anybody new. Once Griff knows he can trust you, he'll be your very best friend!! Griffin can be selective with other dogs, but has been able to make a couple of k-9 friends during his stay here at the shelter. Griff will require a home with with older kids 16+ who are able to understand body language and respect his boundaries. A meet and greet is required for all pups and humans in the home, and multiple meet and greets will likely be needed to see if Griffin will be a good match for you and your family! If you think your home may be a good match for our boy Griffin, please submit an application!

Story
Hi! I'm Athena! Intake date: 05/24/2024 Intake type: Surrender DOB: 11/06/2022 Gender: Spayed Female Current weight: 52 lbs I am a very gentle and timid soul. I can be quite shy at first when meeting new people, but give me a snack or two and let me get a good sniff in, and I'll start to open up and show you how good of a girl I am! I enjoy hanging out in the yard with my most trusted people, basking in the sunshine or sniffing to my hearts content. I'm up for adventures in nice quiet places with minimal distractions, or if you'd rather have a lazy day, I'd be down to snuggle on the couch instead! My shelter family says my perfect home would be one without other pets or children as they make me quite anxous and nervous. Im really hoping to find a family that will take the time to show me that the world isn't so scary and help me become a confident gal! Could that be you? https://www.hornellanimalshelter.org/Adoptionprocessandfees

Story
Hi! I'm Zeus! **approved application is required for a meet and greet** Intake type: Surrender DOB: 3/1/23 Breed: pitty mix Gender: neutered male Weight: 70+ lbs Who's a handsome pupperdog? Well, me, of course, and guess what?? I'm looking for a new home to call my own! I can be a bit shy when I first meet new people, but if you give me just a little time and play a nice game of fetch with me, I'll start to open up! I enjoy play time and exercising, but I also settle down nicely with a nylabone if you need some quiet time. I'd love to find a family who enjoys going on fun adventures but is down with lazy days at home, too! My shelter family says I would do best in a home where I am the only fur child, but don't worry because iI've got plenty of love to shower you with once I know I can trust you! I would do best in an adult only home, but I may be able to live in a home with older kiddos 16+ who are able to understand and respect my space and boundaries as I can be protective over my food and food related toys like kongs. As always a meet and greet is required if you have any children in the home to make sure that we can get along. My shelter family tells me I'll be meeting a trainer soon, and they are very hopeful that she will be able to help me overcome this little hurdle with my food! I'm hoping to find a patient family who's more than willing to continue working with me and my new trainer and help me become the best version of myself! I'm tail-waggingly optimistic that there is a special family out there for me! Could that be you?

Story
Hi! I'm Auggie! Intake type: Stray DOB: Gender: male Weight: 66 lbs Happy, fun, energetic, and goofy. All qualities that describe me! I am a big, bouncy boy who loves to romp and play to my hearts content! I have tons of energy to burn, and I am on the search for someone who loves to play just as much as I do! I love all types of toys and will keep myself entertained with just about anything. I'm not picky at all, but my all-time favorite toys are long rope toys with or without extra goodies on them, tennis balls, and water sprinklers! I really love running through sprinklers and chomping at the water! My shelter family thinks I may enjoy swimming, or at least splashing around in puddles! I love to meet new people, but sometimes I forget how big and strong I am, and I haven't quite figured out that I shouldn't jump all over people when I'm happy to see them! My shelter fam says I would really benefit from taking some doggy obedience classes and working with a trainer to help improve things like my leash manners (I think my leash is a tug toy... apparently, it's not, lol) so I can be the goodest boy! I have not been around any 2 legged kiddos yet, but my shelter family says a home with older, more rugged kiddos 12+ would probably be best as i may knock littles over. I absolutely love other pups, and would be so happy to have another doggo to play with in my new home! My shelter family feels a home without kitties or smaller critters or feathery friends is best for me! As always, a meet and greet is required if there are kiddos or other pups in the home to make sure we can get along! If you think i may sound like a good match, please submit an application! https://www.hornellanimalshelter.org/Adoptionprocessandfees
