Story
BONDED PAIR! Waylon is 2 years old, who has never been separated from his mom Athena. The two of them are amazing with children and extremely patient with children of all ages. Despite his cleft lip and cherry eyes Waylon is a healthy gentle giant that loves attention. His favorite things to do is play fetch, tug-a-war and running around. When he isn't outside, he loves to cuddle sometimes doesn't know personal space. He also enjoys chewing on bones and chew toys. He is beginning to enjoy car rides as he is getting over the fear of getting in and out of the vehicles. He is not recommended for first time dog owners. He is very strong as well as strong willed. He needs a lot of consistency with training, exercise, and socializing. When he is alone for extended periods of time and or bored, he will get into anything and everything if left in his reach. Since fostering Waylon and his mother Athena we have been working with them on simple commands as well as leash training.

Story
BONDED PAIR! Athena is an almost 4 year old mom to her son Waylon that is 2 years old. They have never been separated. They were in need of a home asap so I took them in as fosters until I can find them a forever home. Ideally future owner must be experienced as they are a large breed that are very strong and strong willed. Consistency in training, socializing, and exercising is an absolute must. Athena and Waylon are being trained with simple commands and learning to walk on a leash, she is a puller. When they are alone for extended periods of time and or bored, they will get into anything and everything. Athena has a mothering personality, when Waylon is out of her sight she will whine and pace until she sees him. Athena loves car rides, she also likes to play fetch, she enjoys rolling around in the grass, and sitting in the sun. When she isn't outside, she loves to cuddle, as well as chew on toys and bones.

Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Behavior Profile Color(s): BlueBlue—Has an energetic and boisterous nature.Could she do well with kids? Yes, with children around 8 years old on a kid-by-kid basis.Could she do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Yes. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Harley is an energetic dog on a weight loss journey due to insufficient play and exploration. She struggles with leash pulling, indicating her lack of experience in leash walking. During her assessment, Harley struggled to stay still and tried to turn handling into a game. She would grab at fingers when anticipating treats, showing a lack of manners. Although she displayed minimal interest in the food dish, taking only a few bites before wandering off.Her play style is exuberant, with frequent jumping, the height she can reach is limited by her weight. She showed little understanding of how to engage with toys, and her attention quickly waned. Harley would become overstimulated, barking for attention and attempting to jump on new people, but she was more composed when interacting with another dog without being overwhelming.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Behavior Profile Color(s): OrangeOrange—Has behavior traits that require breed and/or specialized experience with dogs.Could he do well with kids? We recommend that Goose go to an adult only household.Could he do well with other dogs? Goose can be selective with other dogs. Multiple meets might be necessary.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Goose is a powerful and energetic dog who exhibits signs of barrier frustration, often eagerly pushing through the kennel door to get outside. While he can be guided back into his kennel, he demonstrates strong pulling on the leash due to his excitement but does not jump on people. Initially, he takes a moment to warm up to new handlers and shows some sensitivity around his tail, which may lead him to chase it compulsively.During play, Goose can become overly stimulated, resulting in nipping at legs and attempting to jump at hands and arms. He loves playing with toys and may display possessive behavior, particularly with squeaky toys and tennis balls. Although Goose knows the sit cue,, his excitement can hinder his focus, and he may respond with barking and lunging when feeling pressured.Goose has a tendency to startle at everyday objects like metal dishes and umbrellas; his reactions range from curiosity to defensiveness, especially when handlers interact with these objects. In a resource guarding test, he exhibited aggressive behavior, snapping at a fake hand when prompted. In interactions with strangers, Goose shows both offensive and defensive behaviors, making it challenging to redirect his focus. He initially approaches a stranger with curiosity but can quickly escalate to trying to bite. His play with another dog, Zane, starts off a bit rough with attempts to mount, but after burning off some energy, his demeanor improves, although handlers kept hold of leashes during their interaction.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT
