Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Could he do well with kids? Yes, with children 14 years and older.Could he do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal:Meet Goose – From Shut Down to ShineWhen Goose first came to the shelter, he was a different dog—unsure of people, defensive, and deeply wary of human touch. Thanks to the patience, consistency, and love of staff and volunteers, Goose has blossomed into a joyful, affectionate, and downright irresistible companion. Now? This boy throws himself into your arms for snuggles, politely takes treats, and loves showing off his commands—“sit,” “boop,” and more. On walks, he’s an attentive, enthusiastic partner who checks in often, even if he sometimes pulls when something exciting catches his nose. Some of Goose’s Best Qualities:-A true snugglebug who leans in close for affection-Knows his commands and is eager to please-Energetic, playful, and always up for fun-A happy, attentive walker who loves adventures-Improving every day in play manners with other dogsHe’s not without quirks—he may chase his tail when overstimulated, or get a little too excited during play—but he’s learning to self-regulate and signals clearly when he needs a break. With guidance and continued structure, Goose thrives.Goose Would Do Best In a Home With:-Kids 14+ who can handle his size and energy-Possibly another dog—one who can keep up with his playful, high-energy style-A family who will celebrate his goofy, affectionate spirit and continue his journey of growthAt 4 years old and 71 pounds, Goose is the best of both worlds—mature enough to know his manners, but young enough to keep life fun and full of energy. And just look at him—those bright eyes, big smile, and handsome brindle coat say it all.Goose has already proven that with love and patience, he can bloom. Now he’s ready to do the same in a forever home.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Goose is an energetic and playful dog who has shown improvement with the help of staff and volunteers. He tends to pull on the leash when eager to reach certain objects or scents but walks pol

Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Yes. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal:Meet Zeus Clay – Gentle Soul, Bashful Buddy, Tug-of-War ChampAt 3 years old, Zeus is a shy but lovable boy with a big heart and a soft spirit. This medium-sized American Pit Bull Terrier mix (around 60 pounds) is still finding his footing in the noisy shelter world—but give him a little patience, and you’ll see the warm, goofy side that’s waiting just beneath the surface. When he first arrived, Zeus was hesitant to approach new people. But once outside, he walked beautifully on leash, taking comfort in quiet surroundings and gentle voices. He’s learning that the world isn’t so scary, and every day he grows a little braver—especially when tennis balls or tug ropes are involved! What Zeus Loves Most:- Chasing tennis balls and playing gentle games of tug-of-war- Calm, kind people who let him go at his own pace- Earning treats for showing off his tricks—he knows “sit,” “wait,” and even “shake!”What Zeus’s Ideal Home Looks Like:- Children 12+ who understand shy dogs- Possibly another dog, on a dog-by-dog basis- Comfortable with cats—he’s lived with them before- A quiet, reassuring home that will help him build confidence day by dayOnce Zeus feels safe, his tail starts to wag, his eyes brighten, and he leans in for those ear rubs he’s come to love. He’s a tenderhearted dog who just needs the right people to show him that love and safety are here to stay.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Zeus is somewhat reserved around unfamiliar people but has made progress in overcoming his fears. Given time, he will approach on his own and prefers to interact with other dogs. He shows a strong desire to play while generally behaving appropriately.During walks, Zeus enjoyed himself more and startled less at outside noises, walking well on a leash. Inside, he showed less stability around everyday objects but recovered quickly and willingly approached when called. He responded positively to handling and command

Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Could he do well with kids? Yes, with children around 14 years old.Could he do well with other dogs? Chonk can be selective with other dogs. Multiple meets might be necessary.Has this dog lived with cats? Yes. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Chonk is an older, reserved dog who is slow to trust. During his reassessment, he showed discomfort and was hesitant to come out of his kennel, requiring me to carry him outside. His walking improved, but he wanted to return to the kennel and showed reluctance to explore.Although he tolerated handling, he displayed signs of discomfort, like tense body posture and lip licking. He became more engaged with food but stopped eating when I touched him. He showed no signs of resource guarding, and I had difficulty assessing his knowledge of cues since he mostly remained seated and uninterested in play. When introduced to a stranger, Chonk displayed offensive/defensive cues, barking and growling while remaining seated. However, his behavior improved when meeting another shelter dog, as he gained confidence and briefly interacted with her before losing interest.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Yes. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Henry is part of a group of animals that came into our care due to an animal hoarding situation. These dogs lived in a large pack, free to roam the home, but they didn’t receive much individual attention or socialization with new sights and sounds. Many of them have never worn collars, are unfamiliar with leashes, and being outside is frightening. While you can catch glimpses of their unique personalities, most of these dogs are not accustomed to functioning independently and can easily become overwhelmed. They are very loving animals but lack the confidence to seek out interactions. At this time, all members of the group should be considered flight risks.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? No. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal:Meet Dusty – Small in Size, Big in Personality, and Wild for WaterAt just 40 pounds and a year old, Dusty is a compact little Labrador mix with golden-dipped paws, a spring-loaded zoomie engine, and a very real obsession with puddles, hoses, and kiddie pools. The moment water is involved, Dusty lights up. He splashes, prances, paws, and spins—pure joy on four legs.Once his energy is out, he’ll trot over, tail up and eyes bright, to say hello in his own time. And when he does? It’s magic. What Makes Dusty So Delightful:- A water-loving little dynamo who lives for puddles and splash time- The cutest paws in the shelter—they look like he stepped in gold- Curious, funny, and so expressive once he feels safe- Energetic and independent, but still makes time for his people- Likes other dogs with the right match and introWhat Dusty’s Looking For:- A home with kids 16+ who respect his space- A patient adopter who will let him come around at his own pace- Someone who appreciates a little independence in their pup- A yard with a kiddie pool—or at least a good muddy trail after the rainDusty isn’t the type to leap into your arms on day one. He likes to observe, sniff, consider. He may ask for space at first, and that’s okay—he’s just learning to trust. But if you give him the time to warm up, he’ll reward you with joy, loyalty, and some of the best puddle-dancing you’ve ever seen.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Dusty has made notable progress. He prefers to interact with people on his terms and is reserved around unfamiliar individuals, sometimes displaying defensive behaviors. He was tolerant of handling but required treats to engage.Dusty is naturally curious and takes time to explore his environment and the people around him before fully trusting them, which is typical for his age. He startled easily and showed tense body language; he hard-stared, waiting to see what we would do. Invitations to play made him fearful,
