Story
Oh, Nyx....where do I begin. This girl is a special one! She came to us when our vet asked us to take in a special needs puppy. Nyx was born with hydrocephalus and the breeder didn't want her so she surrendered Nyx to our vet. Her hydrocephalus doesn't affect her health in any way now but we believe it has affected her personality. Nyx is a very special girl who will need a VERY special adopter. One who is patient and calm and willing to accept Nyx for who she is! Nyx wants affection on her terms but will run from you if you try to pick her up. You have to go low and slow so she won't run from you. Nyx will HAVE to have a fenced in yard for that very reason - if she got out you probably wouldn't get her to come back to you. Nyx likes other dogs but doesn't really know how to play with them and can mean to them when she's just trying to get them to play. We think all of her quirks are a direct result of her hydrocephalus. She can be so loving, but she is definitely a quirky one! Nyx will do best with older children or a quiet household. If you are the unicorn adopter we are looking for - who is willing to accept Nyx for who she is - please fill out our application at www.goofyfootrescue.org Nyx is in foster care in West TN and will be transported once her adoption is finalized.

Story
HANK was rescued with his sister in August 2024, having been dumped (twice) in the back roads of our county in West TN. Hank and his sister, Lady, were completely vetted in September 2024 and are on HW preventive. DNA puts them at 45% Hound and almost 30% Lab and a smaller mix of misc others. He is friendly, exuberant, and has a big hound voice. He was great meeting kids at the vet's office, and non-reactive to the cats in large cages, just curious. Nickname is Hank the Tank! He needs a home that loves big goofy pups (not quite a year and a half old). He has some manners, but needs someone with more time to devote to him, take him for rides, walks, play, and big snuggles watching tv. He is a COMPANION DOG, not a hunter. Very smart, likes to play in water, and deserves his own home to love him. No fee to the right family. Must be allowed indoors, and needs a tall fenced yard. Does well in a big crate, but fluffy beds have been known to explode! ARE YOU HIS NEW FAMILY?

Daisy is a 22 month old female Great Pyrenees. She is EXTREMELY SWEET. She it’s very gentle both with children and other animals. She does not have a mean bone in her whole body. she is attentive, intelligent and very social. She looks you straight into you with her kind eyes. My wife and I have just become empty-nesters. She is re-entering the workforce and we just are unable to give Daisy the time and attention she needs and deserves.

Story
We were gifted Patrick, as a puppy, from a friend who lives on a farm. Her dog had puppies and she couldn't keep them all. He has always been an inside dog. He is house trained and stands at the door or nudges us gently when he has to go out to use the bathroom. He is very calm most of the time, unless he knows he is going on a car ride, or someone comes to the front door. Then he is hyper and excited, but calms down quickly. He is great with our cat and our kids. He's very gentle and is so sweet. He is very cuddly and thinks he's a lap dog! He sleeps inside in the laundry room, and is very obedient. He knows how to sit and lay down. We wish we could keep him, but turns out our son is allergic, plus we are moving to another state. We would love to know that he went to a loving home that will take very good care of him.

Story
Star is a 5 year old Boston Terrier that weighs about 10lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Star is a very lovable, laid back, and low-activity Boston. She has big beautiful black eyes.  Star loves to be around other dogs, kids, and people.  She is friends with everyone she meets.  Star love car rides and wants to go with you every time you open the door.  Star comes to her name and listens well.  Star is crate trained and likes her crate.  She has quite the personality and will talk with you when she wants something.  She loves attention and is happy to snuggle on your lap, in chair, or anywhere and anytime. She has only barked a few times when she is excited and doesn’t bark often except for when the other dogs in the house do.  Star loves to sleep in bed with her humans. She loves to be with her humans. Star had an injury to her hind legs and hips as a puppy, and she hops on one rear leg when she is on the move.  Her hip and rear leg issues don’t slow her down, and the vet doesn't think it causes her any pain.  She has learned to adapt to her condition. She can go up and down carpeted stairs.  She may need help getting outside depending on the exit, but once there she is fine. When pottying outside, her rear legs look and function the most normal. If you are looking for a lap dog, she is your dog. Star is not the let’s go chase the ball type of dog. Look into her eyes and give her your heart and you will be Star’s world. Her foster home says they would love to adopt her if they didn't already have two dogs.   If you would like to give Star her forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $350. She is being fostered in Saint Peters, MO. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com. Story
Lulu is an 8 year old splash Boston Terrier that weighs about 14lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Here's what Lulu's foster has to say about her!  Meet Lulu. Lulu has been with me for a few months now and since then, she has come into her own. She is probably one of the sweetest gentle little dogs I have ever met.  She loves to cuddle on the couch and loves to sleep in the big bed at night. She likes to sleep by my desk during the day. She gets along with other dogs, but is really more interested in her human. She loves walking the yard and rolling in the grass and enjoying the sunshine. She doesn’t seem to require much exercise. She does well with potty training, but you have to be diligent and go out with her and make sure she does her business. She does well in the crate and does not bark. I don’t really think I’ve heard her bark once since she’s been here. She walks well on a leash, but would prefer a fenced in yard to lounge in.  She loves her mother Hubbard cookies and doesn’t like to miss a meal. So far, she has showed no interest in toys. She seems to do well on car rides.  I think Lulu would do best in a home on the quieter side. To be honest, I don’t think she’d have a problem with being the only dog as she loves to have 100% attention all to herself. If there was another dog in the home, probably one that is laid-back as well would be a good fit. She is a joy to have around. She’s like a ray of sunshine. If you would like to give Lulu her forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $250. She is being fostered in Memphis, TN. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com.
