Blue's Personality Blue is a big sweet boy who loves, loves, loves to snuggle in your lap. He responds to being petted and brushed by purring loud and long! Blue is a confident kitty who likes to explore new surroundings then choose his favorite spot to hang out. Blue is full of personality and a very vocal boy. He's also very playful - they way he dribbles a toy ball, Blue could be a champion soccer player! He also likes batting a ball on a string like a tetherball and wrestling with catnip-packed toys. But most of all, Blue loves a nice lap to curl up in where he can feel warm and loved. Blue is a social eater who sometimes wants you to pet him before he eats while he's siting at his food bowl. When you do this, he fills the room with his loud purring. This big boy is very food motivated - he will let you know when its time for his meals. Blue needs carefully portioned quality low calorie food provided in smaller meals a few times a day (3 to 4 times per day is ideal). What Type of Home Blue Needs Blue needs a home with more than one person where people are around to keep him company. He will not do well in a single person home or where people are rarely home. He needs some activity around him and having more than one person in the household will help keep him entertained. Blue will do best in an adult-only home, but would do fine with an older cat-savvy child (about 10 yrs or older). NO young children now or in the future. He apparently doesn't do well with dogs, but is fine with other cats. While he may do great with the right cat buddy, if having another cat means this would interfere with the type of food he eats or providing carefully portioned meals, then its best that Blue be a single kitty. Where Blue Came From Blue was transferred to SPCA NOVA's care from a shelter. He had been surrendered to the shelter because he and the resident dog apparently didn't get along. Chef Wendy is the best biscuit maker in town, and she kneads you to know! This sweet baker loves showing off her talented biscuit making skills to her humans, especially on her favorite fuzzy blankets. Biscuit making is hard work, though, and because of that Wendy loves to nap, either on your lap or a nearby comfy chair. She loves pets and head scratches, and will let you know with a meow or flop on the floor when she wants them. This sweet girl has a wild side too, always willing to chase her favorite worm toy or jump after your shoelaces. She's the purrfect combination of cuddly and playful, and will quickly become your furry best friend! Meet Nina, the cat who's all about peace and independence. She's a quiet kitty who doesn't beg for attention or seek out cuddles. Nina's special talent? Being super patient and cool with things like nail clippings and taking her medicine without a fuss. She won't ask for pets, but if you give her a gentle chin scratch, she'll melt into a purring bundle of joy. Once you start, you'll find it hard to stop because she loves it so much! Nina's the perfect companion for those who appreciate a calm and self-sufficient furry friend. She might not be a social butterfly, but when it comes to chin rubs, she's the ultimate purr-fectionist! Lexie might be an independent young cat, but whether she's watching for birds, taking a nap, or making biscuits she's going to be doing it in the same room as you nearly all of the time. She'll keep you company whatever your task might be. When it's time for a nap warm sunbeams and soft blankets are her favorite cozy spots. This sweet girl makes a wonderful companion. Lexie has tested positive for FeLV. She's currently unaffected, as it's likely in a latent or transient stage. However, reactivation of FeLV could potentially occur in the future, making Lexie more prone to infection and a weakened immune system. Leyla's Personality Beauty and brains, sweet and sassy. This little charmer, whose nickname is "Miss Bean," will win you over in no time. Although not a lap cat (so far!), she's always close by laying next to you. Just provide a nice, soft fleece blanket. Leyla is super friendly and enjoys being brushed. She will reward you with soft purrs and gentle head butts. Leyla is becoming more playful each day in her new foster home after all of her six kittens have been adopted. She is learning to be a kitten again after giving being a mom at just 9 months of age. Leyla goes nuts over a catnip-filled pillow. She showed off her first "zoomies" around the house the other day. And she chases just about anything that moves. Miss Bean won't wake you up for breakfast, but waits until you pet her while she stands on your chest, giving you the days loudest purr. She loves to sleep on a soft blanket on the bed at night and occasionally chases your toes under the covers. Her favorite things are catnip toys, getting brushed and showing off her trick sitting on command for treats. If Leyla can’t find you, she lets out a little meow, and comes running when you call. She loves people, and is not shy at all. She is a perfect little companion. What Type of Home Leyla Needs This sweet, sassy girl needs a home where people are around for her to hang out with. She is not demanding, but likes to be near people. Leyla likes to be in charge of her territory and needs to be the only pet - no other cats or dogs in her forever home. Leyla can get a little over-stimulated and nip your hands or feet when she feels unsettled - so no young children now or in the future. An older, cat-savvy child would be fine. This behavior has subsided in her new foster home now that she is settled in. Where Leyla Came From Leyla was rescued from outdoors by a kind man who found her abandoned in a park just one week before giving birth to six healthy kittens (all adopted). She was such a sweet, nurturing mama.
