Story
Mary and Mini’s Personalities Mary and Mini are adorable dilute tortoiseshells with light grey and peach colored coats. They are very sweet and don't showcase any of those sassy "torti" traits. These girls love playing, chasing and wrestling with each, and getting pets from their foster mom. They sleep curled up together and are a perfectly matched pair who must be adopted together. MARY is a beautiful girl with a peach tipped tail that helps you distinguish her from her sister. She is everything that a kitten should be - beautiful, silly, playful, curious, sweet and playful. Mary is a friendly, confident girl who adapts quickly to new people and places. She loves to romp and wrestle with her sister and toss toy mice around. Mary greets you with an happy upward tail, and purrs when you pet her. She is always up for kitten shenanigans and won’t turn down an opportunity to chase a feather on a stick. When she is tuckered out from playing, Mary loves to curl up next to you or snuggle with her sister. MINI has a lighter face than her sister with a cute peach streak from her forehead down to her nose. She loves to play as much as her sister and has been seen playing with imaginary prey and running in a circle chasing her own tail. Mini is a bit more timid than her sister and relies on Mary to show her that new things and new people are ok. However, Mini has made amazing progress gaining confidence and has really come out of her shell over the past couple of months. Her foster mom says she is even the first to climb into her lap! Once she feels confident, Mini responds with purring especially when you pet her while she is eating. Mini is also sometimes quite vocal, talking when she has something to say or when she's looking for her sister. Type of Home They Need Mary and Mini need a quieter home with experienced cat caretakers who give them plenty of nurturing as they grow up. A home with an adult couple would be ideal although an older cat-savvy child would be ok (about 12 yrs or older). No very young children or dogs now or in the future. Where They Came From These girls were rescued as young kittens, along with their mom cat and two brothers, from someone’s home where they weren’t being adequately cared for.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Charlotte and Louis’s Personalities This sister/brother pair is sweet, loving and playful. They enjoy playing and cuddling together. They are a bonded pair who must be adopted together. CHARLOTTE  (female, tortoiseshell/calico) is an absolutely beautiful tortie/calico girl, sweet and completely lacking in the famous "tortitude." You can see the C for Charlotte right there on her chin, so you never forget her name. She is also a lap cat and very affectionate. Charlotte is very intelligent and curious; you can see her little cogs turning. She loves computer screens and is up on your desk if you let her. Charlotte loves high-up places and climbs to the highest place in your house just for fun. She also gives you great head/face kisses and loves to cuddle.  LOUIS  (male, black) has a soft, lustrous coat that you’ll love caressing as he sits on your lap demanding attention. If Louis likes you, he’ll lick your nose. Charlotte is his best friend and he loves to give her baths. He is very friendly and sociable. Louis is hilarious with toys, grabbing them and making tiny growls while running all over the house with them. He especially loves realistic bird feather toys. If you throw a toy for him, he fetches it and brings it back to you. Louis is initially shyer than his sister and takes a little time before he feels comfortable in a new home. What Type of Home They Need Charlotte and Louis need a home where they get plenty of love and affection. Their new home needs to be relatively quiet with caretakers who give Louis a little time to settle in. They have not been exposed to children but once settled in, they may do fine with older kids over about 10 years of age who know how to respect kitties as they settle in. They have not been exposed to dogs. Where They Came From Charlotte and Louis came into our care from a loving home when their caretaker realized that her failing health required her to find them a new home.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Jade and Opal's Personalities Jade and Opal are sweet, loving, playful and confident sisters. They look nearly identical in their buff colored coats with light tabby stripes. These girls enjoy playing together and carrying around toy mice - often hiding the mice in shoes. They like curling up next to their foster family on the couch or in bed at night. They greet you when they see you and follow you around the house. These girls are a bonded pair who must be adopted together. JADE is a tad bit bigger than her sister, Opal, and a little more reserved. It took her a little longer to get use to her foster family but now that she has opened up, she likes to lay close by where she can see them. Jade loves eating, playing in the kitty tunnel with Opal and interacting with her foster family with a feather toy. OPAL is a bit bolder than her sister, Jade, and a loves interacting with her foster family. When you pick her up, she immediately starts purring. Opal loves to run around and explore and play with her sister in the kitty tunnel. Feather toys are also one of her favorites as she loves interacting with people. What Type of Home They Need Jade and Opal need a home where they will get plenty of interaction with people as they grow up. They are use to a family with a teenage boy and three adult cats. They would love to have a forever home with a couple or family with older kids to keep them company. They do great with people and other cats so a moderately active home would be great for them. Where They Came From These girls were rescued, along with their two brothers (already adopted), from a kind woman's home. She has been feeding stray and feral cats in her neighborhood and discovered one of the cats had given birth to a litter of kittens. Now in our care, these babies are getting the love they need while waiting for their forever family.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Sassy and Raven's Personalities These sisters are sweet, friendly, well-adjusted kittens. They may not be as bold as their brothers, Wesley and Wrangler (posted separately), but they are as curious and playful as they are. And like their brothers, they are amazingly well behaved! Their foster mom has trained them to use scratching posts made of sisal and cardboard. Sassy and Raven are bonded and must be adopted together. RAVEN (black) is the smallest in the litter. "Little Raven" was initially the shyest of the crew, and has become patiently observant about things around her. However, she is very curious and loves to try new things first. Raven loves to steal the resident cat's purple bat toy to drag around - even though the toy is half her size! This sweet girl loves to be picked up and held for cuddles and has the sweetest personality and meow. SASSY (black and orange tortoiseshell) is true to her name and while she has some of that torti sass, she is also very sweet. She is a tad bit more independent than her siblings and has tons of energy. Sassy loves to wrestle with her siblings and makes the cutest trilling sounds when happily playing with her toys and tearing through paper packaging and cardboard boxes! Like her brother, Wesley, she carries plush toys around in her mouth, growling to warn her siblings to stay away from her prey. Sassy is so adorable and always ready to play. What Type of Home They Need Sassy and Raven will do great in a quieter to moderately active home where they have plenty of opportunities to interact with people. They would do great with a single person, a couple or a family with an older child that understands how to interact with playful kittens. They have learned to respect the sassy adult cat in their foster home and steer clear of her when she wants to be left alone! Where They Came From These girls were rescued from outdoors when they were young kittens, along with their two brothers, Wesley and Wrangler (posted separately). They adapted quickly to living indoors and are happy, well-adjusted kittens.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Bluey is an independent lady with lots of purr-tential. She is currently accepting applications for a human companion. Because Bluey knows she is a dashing and beautiful girl, she expects royal treatment (very doable treatment after negotiation!) She has advised us that her human companion needs to be ready to supply her with both her wants and needs: Her human should not hesitate to buy her the biggest box of her favorite treat tubes and feed her one at least one per day. Bluey also requests that her human has both the skill and stamina to participate in her favorite playtime activity: the dance of the feathered wand. When not busy playing feather wand with her, said human companion should give Bluey scritches in all of her favorite spots (cheeks, behind the ears, top of her head, and under her chin) using her implement of choice (her current favorite is a back scratcher). Most importantly (or at least as important as all responsibilities related to treats), Bluey's human companion will need to be a patient person, who understands that she will need some time and space to evaluate their skills and worthiness. Bluey is charming, playful girl who will be a joy in your life. To apply to spoil Bluey, please fill out an adoption application (https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LDAC/Cat) or email questions to cat.adoptions@lostdogrescue.org.

Please contact Lindsey Cope (lindseyc@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Pretty girl looking for her forever home!FLOWER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Flower and other great adoptable cats this Sunday (Sept. 15th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Falls Church (6100 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!   Name: Flower  Best Guess for Breed:  Domestic Short Hair Age: 2 years (Estimated DOB: 7/17/2021)  SEX:  Female Approximate Weight:  6.5 lbs as of 8/21  Coloring: Black & White  Type of Hair: Short Gets Along With: With proper integration, Flower should get along with other cats and kids. We’re happy to help with tips and tricks! Flower does not like dogs and MUST be adopted to a home with a welcoming resident cat to help give her confidence! Currently Living at: Foster home in the DC area Check Out This Video Of Flower: https://youtu.be/XHjjEXk3R3A I am Looking For: My forever home! Hi- I'm Flower - a gorgeous girl looking for a home of my own. I won’t ask for much...just some love, cuddles and a sunny place to nap. And maybe a few toys too! I'm a bit shy and would do best in a quieter home with adopters that would give me time, patience, and lots of love while transitioning. What My Foster Says About Me: Flower is a very special kitty-- she arrived at a shelter in South Carolina with a litter of kittens in summer 2023. After raising her kittens and seeing them off to their forever homes, Flower took over mothering duties for an orphaned litter, who she diligently cared for until they were ready to fly the nest, too. Because she was SUCH a good mother (and genuinely seemed to love her babies), Flower surrogate mothered one final litter before finally being spayed and finding a foster home of her own. Although Flower is a bit shy (I'm sure she spent most of her young life mothering kittens rather than learning to trust humans), she is incredibly sweet once comfortable. Recently, she's been approaching her foster mom for pets and clearly has the potential to be an amazing companion to adopter(s) in a quiet home. Flower has been waiting quite a while for someone to notice her quiet potential... can you give this wallflower a chance at happily ever after with you? TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for adult cats will be $200 ($350 for two cats adopted together). The adoption fee for a kitten (under 7 months old) is $220 ($380 for two kittens adopted together). If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckycat. DOB 12/8/20 )  SEX:  Female Approximate Weight:  7lbs 13 oz as of 12/21/23 Coloring: Gray and white  Type of Hair: Short Gets Along With: With proper integration, Iris should get along with other cats, dogs, and kids. We’re happy to help with tips and tricks! Currently Living at:  DC area foster home! I am Looking For: My forever home! Hi- I'm Iris - a gorgeous lady. I won’t ask for much...just some love, cuddles and lots of toys so I can run and play and be my sweet self.  What My Foster Says About Me: Iris was on the shyer side when she first arrived, but it didn't take her too long to settle in. She loves to snuggle in her cat cave and other cozy spots. She almost always relaxes/sleeps hidden under or in something, like the couch, a desk, a bed, under the covers of the bed, or even in her carrier.  She has warmed up a little to napping in the covered cubicle of a cat tree. :) Iris can get very cuddly once she feels comfortable, and loves to sleep next to you. She is also incredibly smart, and has learned to sit when we are eating/giving her treats. She's also learned 'paw' and come (though the word we usually say to her for this is 'jia'). Her intelligence also extends to playtime...when she notices a pattern in where her string is going (such as in a circle between rooms), she waits at an intersection for the string to come before pouncing. When she gets the string, she'll strut around with it before bringing it into a corner. :) When new people come she does usually get a bit spooked and will hide under the couches. She is an excellent companion though and will lay next to the computer without disruption to your work. She will also sit on your lap for a period of time. It took around 2 weeks for her to warm up to us, but once she did, she has proven to be an amazing cat. Give this mama kitty a chance - it is her turn to be spoiled after raising her beautiful babies. :) TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for adult cats will be $200 ($350 for two cats adopted together). The adoption fee for a kitten (under 7 months old) is $220 ($380 for two kittens adopted together). If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckycat. My foster room has a huge window that overlooks the pool and Snuggles is memorized! Same for when she is in the living room-- she sits by the sliding glass door and watches the world around her. She is doing amazing!(5/14) We had some major breakthroughs this past weekend with Snuggles! She is becoming more adventurous, playful, and a little mischievous. We’re slowly introducing new toys and she’s showing more interest! She is exploring more, too-- She may be six, but she’s starting to revert back to her kitten days! For potential adopters, I would just say give her time to adjust to a new environment. It is definitely worth it! (5/4) Snuggles is doing amazing! She is really coming out of her shell. I am working on introducing new toys-- she has her favorite and sticks to it! Does really well with liquid treats and wet food is her preference. Wants heads scratches and pets all day and wants to just snuggle! (4/15) Snuggles loves to be anywhere I am- she wants to be a helper in the kitchen and follow me wherever I go. She is taking sometime to cuddle which is understandable, she just wants to be near you and know she is safe. She is completely treat and food motivated. Loves toys especially wand and feather toys. Story
Leyla's Personality Beauty and brains, sweet and sassy. This little charmer, whose nickname is "Miss Bean," will win you over in no time. Although not a lap cat (so far!), she's always close by laying next to you. Just provide a nice, soft fleece blanket. Leyla is super friendly and enjoys being brushed. She will reward you with soft purrs and gentle head butts. Leyla is becoming more playful each day in her new foster home after all of her six kittens have been adopted. She is learning to be a kitten again after giving being a mom at just 9 months of age. Leyla goes nuts over a catnip-filled pillow. She showed off her first "zoomies" around the house the other day. And she chases just about anything that moves. Miss Bean won't wake you up for breakfast, but waits until you pet her while she stands on your chest, giving you the days loudest purr. She loves to sleep on a soft blanket on the bed at night and occasionally chases your toes under the covers. Her favorite things are catnip toys, getting brushed and showing off her trick sitting on command for treats. If Leyla can’t find you, she lets out a little meow, and comes running when you call. She loves people, and is not shy at all. She is a perfect little companion. What Type of Home Leyla Needs This sweet, sassy girl needs a home where people are around for her to hang out with. She is not demanding, but likes to be near people. Leyla likes to be in charge of her territory and needs to be the only pet - no other cats or dogs in her forever home. Leyla can get a little over-stimulated and nip your hands or feet when she feels unsettled - so no young children now or in the future. An older, cat-savvy child would be fine. This behavior has subsided in her new foster home now that she is settled in. Where Leyla Came From Leyla was rescued from outdoors by a kind man who found her abandoned in a park just one week before giving birth to six healthy kittens (all adopted). She was such a sweet, nurturing mama. Now its time for Leyla to have a home of her own.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Wesley and Wrangler's Personalities These brothers are VERY friendly, well-adjusted and confident kittens. They are bold and curious and settle easily into new environments. For kittens, they are amazingly well behaved! Their foster mom has trained them to use scratching posts made of sisal and cardboard. Wesley and Wrangler are bonded and must be adopted together. WESLEY (orange and white tabby) is a very affectionate boy. He loves to come up to you for attention and cuddles and purrs very loudly to show you how happy he is. Wesley is also very "possessive" over his favorite toys - especially plush toys he can sink his teeth into. He runs away with these toys in his mouth, playfully growling to keep them from getting away and to show his siblings his prey belongs to him! When Wesley is not playing, he loves to cuddle with his siblings or his foster mom. WRANGLER (black and white) is irresistibly cute and purrs loudly when you pet him. This sweet boy is a survivor - he was rescued as a tiny kitten with a badly damaged right ear which subsequently fell off as the injury healed. Once rescued, Wranger was rushed to the ER but has never skipped a beat. He is not affected by his missing ear one bit. He can only hear from one ear but this doesn't affect anything about him - he runs, jumps and plays just like his siblings. Wrangler is very vocal and quick to let you know when he wants your attention. He loves watching his brother wildly running around and wrestles with him whenever he gets a chance! Like his brother, Wranger loves to cuddle when its time to slow down for a catnap. What Type of Home They Need Wesley and Wranger will do great in just about any home where they have plenty of room to roam around and opportunities to interact with people. They will do best in a home with more than one person since they are very active boys. A family with kids old enough to understand that kittens can get playfully wild would be great. They have not been exposed to dogs, but their outgoing personalities suggest they may do fine with a cat-friendly dog. They have learned to respect the sassy adult cat in their foster home and steer clear of her when she wants to be left alone! Where They Came From These boys were rescued from outdoors when they were young kittens, along with their two sisters, Sassy and Raven (posted separately). Story
We were sad to recently receive this message from a previous adopter: " I am not in good health and need to find a home for her now because I can no longer give her the attention she needs and deserves. It would bring me peace of mind to know that she is in a loving home." Abby , an Abyssinian-mix was adopted as a young kitten in 2017 to be a companion to another young cat already in the home. Now 7 yrs old, she is up-to-date on vaccinations and currently residing in Harpers Ferry, WVA. Abby will need some time to adjust to a new home but will be a cherished family member once she settles in. Posted 5/30/24
