Story
Daz, 4-1/2 year old, feline charmer About Daz Daz is tiny, sweet, and loving. She can be a little shy and scared of others first. But once she familiarizes herself with you, prepare for lots of lap cuddles and morning reminders to give her some love and attention. And she loves to have some fun. Get her running with the laser, she is quite the jumper! Any annoying bug in the house, she's your cat. Daz is very low maintanence. Never gets into things she shouldn't have her paw in. Will not get any noise complaints. She will likely be sleeping when you are gone and be ready to hang out with you when you come back. Ideal Friends -may get along best with a partner in a less stimulated environment. Daz does get scared by a lot of stimulation or loud, sporadic noise around her -may get along most ideal in a situation where Daz is the only pet. Daz has some history with larger cats playing with her but because she is so small, play fights can get very uncomfortable for her.

Story
Bernie is an affectionate, indoor-outdoor cat who loves to lay in the sun. My husband and I have had him for three years, and we will unfortunately be unable to take him with us on a big move. Bernie is one of the most cuddly cats I have ever encountered. He truly knows no strangers and will accept pets and cuddles from just about everyone. He is very healthy for his age, and is microchipped. Bernie is an indoor-outdoor cat, and we believe he will do best with access to the outdoors. He is had litter issues in the past that resolved with allowing him to spend most of the day in our small fenced-in yard. Even though he prefers to be outside, Bernie still loves people and does not have much interest in roaming far. We also have a Litter Robot that we are happy to give you for free if you take Bernie. We are truly so sad to have to rehome Bernie, and hope someone looking for a very sweet indoor-outdoor cat will be able to take him.

Story
Mani showed up one evening, where neighborhood and feral cats often come for food in the Stronghold neighborhood in NE DC. Mani was different due to his “chattiness” and allowed his fosters to pet and handle him immediately. It is assumed he was a lost cat but no luck in finding his parents. He wasn’t neutered but has since been neutered and received all vaccines. He is assumed to be less than 2 years of age. Mani is confident and not a cat who wants to be alone. He wants cat and human friends to play with and talk to. There isn’t a toy that he is not fond of or a scratcher he isn’t down for scratching. He has a calm demeanor when being handled and tolerates nail trimmings and belly rubs. He still needs a hiding place to retreat to as he gets comfortable in new spaces but would do best in a home with cat trees, plenty of views of the outside, and would do well as an only cat. He has no known interactions with dogs. Blood and certs available.

Stash, born on April 29th 2025, the cutest, dog-like, cat. LOVES attention, one of the loudest purrs you’ll ever hear. After he’s done playing he pants just like the dog he grew up across the street from. He would do well in a home with multiple people (ie. Multiple hands to pet him :). He’s super talkative and has such a boisterous personality. He also has the cutest little mustache but his name covers that part :)

Story
I am part of a bonded pair with my sister Tigerlily: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/46727417-washington-district-of-columbia-cat Maxwell (Max) is an extremely loving and friendly cat. I got him when he was 6 months old and he will be turning 11 this March. He was found to have a heart murmur as a kitten and has seen a cardiologist in the past to monitor his health. Unfortunately due to losing my job, I am unable to properly care for him as he's approaching an older age. I'd like to find him a loving home that will make sure his health is prioritized. He currently has not been recommended any medication for his heart. Max is bonded with his sister Tigerlily (Lily), who is also listed. I would prefer if they found a new home together, as Lily is quite nervous and finds comfort in Max. Max loves to cuddle, never stops making biscuits, and enjoys being carried around with you. He loves all humans, but has never had any experience around other cats (other than Lily) or dogs.

Story
From her foster mom...her story : Born around the end of October 2023, this lovely lady has been with me for almost a year.  She was rescued from a field and lived briefly in a resident hotel room with an older lady that saved her from the woods but simply could not support her.  She was initially very scared to be in my home, in the foster kitty room, but she quickly bonded with another CCR foster cat, Leo, that is close to her age.  And they are still buddies!  It mystifies me why they are both still here?  Just look at Cookie’s beautiful black and white markings!  You almost want to take a bite out of her!  She certainly makes me crave my favorite cookies….Oreos!  I started calling her Cookie, good Cookie, and it stuck.  She is such a good Cookie.  She has never been sick.  She has never been aggressive.  She has never been a demanding type of cat.  She just sits back and chills.  She watches me when I enter the foster room, patiently waiting for her turn for some loving.  She immediately jumps up to the top shelf of the tower, to enable me to scratch her head.  She rolls over to let me scratch her belly.  She just wants and needs just a little attention.  You barely hear a peep out of Cookie.  She is happy watching the birds in the Crepe Myrtle trees, dreaming about one day catching them.  Cookie and Leo have what a call “an old married couple’s” relationship!  They are happy and grooming each other one moment, and walking in opposite directions the next!  Then they will suddenly chase each other up the wall tower, to the top wall-shelf!  That wall-shelf has become her favorite perch.  Cookie just sits back and chills.  It seems that her only stress for the day is picking where to nap!  Relax and chill.  Cookie will be a great cat for someone that wants a quiet companion.  Do you have an older parent that could use a “subtle” companion?  Or is that you?  A cat that does not get too rowdy?  A cat that does not scream for food?  A cat that needs little attention?  Lazy?  Perhaps.  Relaxed?  Low maintenance?  Definitely.  Cookie has seldom been without another cat.  She has always been with and tolerated many other fosters in the kitty room.  But I question just how special she would become if she was the only cat in the house?  She might become your shadow!  Your best buddy!  Your Good Cookie!  I know there is a perfect forever home out there for this kitty.  Is she the Cookie for you?  Please write to critter cavalry.Rescue, at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.  Please tell us where you live, city and state.  Our vetting is extensive: Spay, rabies, FIV vaccine, FIV tested and negative, fecal and dewormings and a Drontal  and microchipped. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 2, 2025, 8:13 am

Story
Meet Edie and her family! We love to play but also enjoy lounging around on cat trees. Some of our favorite toys include toy mice, balls, cat tunnels, wand toys, and, of course, the laser pointer. We adore all the kitty treats, grooming, and catnip that our foster provides. We are truly affectionate and would love to be adopted with one of our siblings or our mom. We’re irresistibly cute and quickly warm up to food, playtime, and lots of pets and love. Lily is our mom, and we are Edie, Marilyn, and Herman. Edie is super sweet and craves attention. Her fur is fluffier than her siblings’. Edie often helps her foster mom, wanting to be on the desk or in her lap, but she has to take turns with her siblings. She loves getting all the affection and is always the first one to the food bowl. All of us are spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, FIV negative, and microchipped. If you would like to be considered as our forever family, please contact us at viviennejames@comcast.net. An approved application and adoption fee are required. (We are currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.) June 19, 2025, 4:52 pm

Story
This sweet, silly, and "Sassy Man" is looking for a home of his own with no other pets or kids. He's a shy guy with anxiety who would love a pet parent(s) who can relate, and show him patience. He's made HUGE strides, and I know as an only pet he would blossom! He lets me give him kisses now and is close to being OK with getting picked up. This obviously former house cat arrived at my door in Nov 2023. He was emaciated and wasn't going to make it. I started feeding him, fell in love with him, and brought him inside. Sassafras had perineal urethrostomy surgery in Dec 2024 after a bad feline lower urinary tract disease episode. That, a urinary tract diet, and being separated from my other cats, has resolved his issues. I have 3 cats and he is bullied by one of them. Yes, I've "tried it all" and nothing has worked. For his health, I keep him separated, but it breaks my heart and I know he misses sleeping on my bed and being out and about in the house.

Story
Rehoming my cat, he does not get along with other animals (tolerates them) but ultimately fights with dogs and cats and is quite territorial. Black Male ~5 years old, 10-13lbs Neutered, microchipped Requires Urinary Prescription Diet** (i can give you the prescription), up to date on Rabies and FVRCP Vaccines. The cat is super cuddly and gets along well with humans. Doesnt freak out if he’s picked up or in a carrier. Isn’t really a troublemaker in terms of house etiquette, just has a history of bladder infection and a kidney blockage (hence the prescription diet). He truly just needs to be in a home by himself to be happy.

Story
This is Omar and don't let the picture fool you. His is a pretty big boy and weighs close to 20 lbs. We adopted him from a stray cat shelter in Baltimore. Born and raised in the mean streets of West Baltimore, Omar is named after the iconic character from "The Wire". He survived 6-7 years in one of the roughest part of the city before being given to a shelter where we adopted him. He is a great companion and loves to sit right next to you as you watch TV. Omar isn't really much of a lap cat but will definite try to sit right in between you and a family member on the couch during a movie. He is great around kids and will never bite or scratch them or you. He also gets along fine with other cats but is also fine if he is the only pet. Having spent all those years in the hood, Omar has no interest in going back outside so you wont have to worry about him running outside if you leave the door open too long.
