Story
Stanny’s story begins in July 2014, when he was pulled from Devore Shelter at just three months old—truly in the nick of time. Once restored to health, he traveled to Seattle later that year and was adopted by a young man new to the city. Renamed Stan, he and his person shared a deep bond for years until a major change in their living situation brought new people and two younger cats into the home. Sensitive and loyal, Stan struggled with the sudden shift and, unable to adapt, was returned to us last year at ten years old. True to our motto, “Once a Kitty Devore cat, always a Kitty Devore cat,” we welcomed him back with open arms. After a short adjustment period, Stan has flourished in foster care. He’s an affectionate, talkative, and super playful boy who loves human companionship and enjoys being part of a person’s daily routine. While he prefers people to other pets, he has gotten along well with his foster siblings with proper introductions. He can be a little particular about food, but he eats enough to keep his long, lanky frame in good shape. Stan knows his name, comes when called, responds to a finger snap, and shows his affection through enthusiastic head-bumps and happy tummy-kneading when he’s truly content. His health is very good overall; recent bloodwork shows borderline hyperthyroidism, which is being managed with a simple daily medication. He tolerates his pill well and is otherwise a healthy, happy cat with excellent veterinary records. Now this wonderful young senior is ready for a forever home where he can be loved completely and securely. If you believe you’re the person or family Stan has been waiting for, please fill out an adoption application at www.kittydevorerescue.org today. He’s a remarkable cat with so much love to give—won’t you give him the chance to share it with you?

Story
MEET MAYRA! Mayra's journey began at Devore Animal Shelter in mid-June 2024, where she found herself at risk simply for having a cold. At around one year old at the time, this young tortoiseshell girl had already known instability, and her full, round figure initially led to speculation that she might be pregnant--though it turned out she's simply a naturally full-figured beauty. Rescued just in time, Mayra recovered in a temporary California foster home before making the big trip north. By the end of June 2024, she arrived safely in Washington, where she has been thriving ever since with her long-term foster mom. Gentle, confident, and quietly charismatic, Mayra is as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside. True to her tortie nature, she isn't shy about asking for affection and happily makes herself known when it's time for attention. In her foster home, she's become an ambassador of goodwill--welcoming new foster cats with calm kindness and helping them feel at ease. Once everyone is settled, Mayra is ready for whatever the moment brings, whether that's cozy snuggles, playful antics, or simply being near her people. She's social, adaptable, and would do beautifully in a family setting or a multi-cat household. Now healthy, happy, and holding no grudges about her past, Mayra is more than ready to leave shelter life behind for good. She's looking for a forever home where her warmth, companionship, and gentle spirit will be cherished. If you'd like to meet this exceptional girl and see if she's the perfect match for your home, please apply to adopt through Kitty Devore Rescue at www.kittydevorerescue.org. Magical Mayra is ready to meet her person--could it be you? Please note: Mayra is one of our Seattle, WA, foster kitties and is only available for adoption to applicants in Seattle and the surrounding areas.

Story
Special Considerations: diabetic, no other pets Meet Marley! This sizeable kitty is very sweet and snuggly with people. Some of his favorite things are belly rubs and feather toys but he really loves curling up on laps! He doesn’t like getting brushed and would do best in a home without other pets, but is otherwise just the friendliest feline. He is diabetic and needs twice daily insulin injections, but he takes them like a champ. He just wants all the attention he can get! If you’re looking for a large and loving cat to cuddle, Marley is your man! Marley is current on vaccines, neutered and microchipped.

Story
Meet Mi-Ke (mee-kay) Her name means “three colors” in Japanese, and it suits her perfectly. Mi-Ke is a 3.5-year-old domestic shorthair with a calm presence, gentle soul, and a quiet charm that draws you in once you take a moment to know her. Found as a stray in Yakima, Mi-Ke has shown just how resilient and adaptable she can be. She may be a little shy at first, but she settles in quickly and forms sweet, meaningful bonds with the people she trusts. This mellow girl thrives in a peaceful, low-key home where she can enjoy cozy naps, warm blankets, and a predictable routine. She’s affectionate in her own understated way, greeting her people with soft meows, head butts, and her signature “elevator butt” when she’s asking for scritches. Mi-Ke likes attention on her terms and appreciates having her own space to retreat to when she needs it. Mi-Ke isn’t particularly playful, but she loves watching the world go by from a sunny window and curling up in a covered bed or anything warm and heated. She’s food motivated, easy to care for day-to-day, and happiest spending her time lounging near her favorite humans. Medically, Mi-Ke has a low-grade heart condition (HCM) and a heart murmur that will require periodic monitoring, but many cats with similar diagnoses live long, comfortable lives with routine veterinary care. She also has a special anesthesia protocol on file to keep her safe during future procedures, and she’ll benefit from a dental cleaning within the next year. These needs are manageable, and our team is happy to discuss them in detail with interested adopters. Mi-Ke is looking for a compassionate adopter who values a calm companion and understands that love doesn’t always look loud. If you’re seeking a quiet, comforting presence who will reward your patience with trust and gentle affection, Mi-Ke may be the perfect match. Mi-Ke is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and ready to find her forever home.
