Story
By Appointment Only Hello, I am Blake, a 1-year-old, neutered male French Bulldog / Terrier mix who currently weighs 26 pounds. I am an active fellow that is true to my breed; I like to do everything from greeting people and dogs to playing in the yard with a gung-ho attitude. I can't wait to head on home with my new family and show them how spunky and fun I can really be. I would love to find a family that is familiar with Frenchies like me, including our medical needs. If I sound like the perfect little addition to your family come on in with the whole family and any resident dogs to meet me.  Blake AID# A973443 Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing adoptinquire@phs-spca.org You may also submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to adoptinquire@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Meet Lily, a 6–7 month old Frenchie-poo (yes, really! DNA confirmed!) with a big heart, endless enthusiasm, and a serious love for playtime. She currently weighs 18 lbs. Lily was originally part of a litter rescued from the shelter and later adopted, but she was returned to DPS through no fault of her own when her adopters realized they weren’t quite ready for typical puppy energy. Now in foster care, Lily is thriving and showing just how wonderful she is.   Lily starts her day around 7:30 AM with an enthusiastic trip outside for potty time. Breakfast follows around 8 AM, and then it’s straight back to the backyard where the real fun begins. She spends much of her morning playing with her foster’s resident puppy, and the two are absolute best friends. They wrestle, chase, and entertain each other for hours. Around 9:30 AM, Lily heads out for a walk, where she shows off her excellent leash manners— she doesn’t pull, walks easily, and responds well when spoken to. She may bark briefly at people or dogs at the start of a walk, but once she’s met one dog, she settles right in. After her walk, it’s back to more playtime until lunch, when she enjoys a small midday meal. The afternoon is a mix of indoor and outdoor play, fetch sessions (she’s still perfecting the “bring it back” part), and the occasional nap squeezed in between bursts of activity. After another walk around sunset, Lily eats dinner around 5:30–6 PM. The evening includes more play and interaction until about 10:30 PM, when she happily winds down and tucks herself in for the night.   Personality-wise, Lily is a dream. When she first arrived, she was a little shy with one member of the household, but once her foster came home, she quickly revealed her true self: confident, affectionate, happy, and full of love. By day two, she was completely comfortable and has remained that way ever since. Lily absolutely adores attention, belly rubs, and being close to her people. She is a true velcro dog who follows her humans from room to room and wants nothing more than to be included. She’s also always ready to play and wrestle, showing her affection through joyful, energetic interaction.   Lily does wonderfully with other dogs. She lives with an 8-pound, 6-month-old puppy, and the two are inseparable, perfectly matched in size and energy. She has also been around a senior dog and quickly learned to respect his boundaries. Her playful nature, combined with her social skills, makes her a great canine companion.   She is very energetic and excitable around people, but she also loves to cuddle once she slows down. Lily is making good progress with housetraining, mostly using the backyard and potty pads placed near the back door. She enjoys chewing on toys and treats but doesn’t destroy them—she simply loves to gnaw and savor them. She doesn’t dig and may bark occasionally if she thinks something interesting is happening outside.   Lily already knows how to sit and is very food motivated, making her eager to learn more. She truly has a heart of gold and a gentle soul—sweet, loving, and full of joy. Her foster’s favorite (and funniest) thing about her is how she manages to get her tennis balls completely soaked with slobber, proudly chewing away on them and making a hilarious, squishy sound.   Lily would thrive in a home with another playful dog or with people who enjoy engaging with an active, fun-loving puppy and meeting her energy needs. In return, she offers loyalty, affection, and a whole lot of happiness. She is a wonderful, sweet girl who will be absolutely adored by her future family.January 15, 2026, 4:06 pm

Story
Adopt Barbie! Hi, I’m Barbie! The vet thinks I’m about 4 y/o. I am a vocal high-energy 17lb. Frenchie with separation anxiety. I had a neglectful past and suffered from Demodex mange and lost almost all my fur, but look at me now! Due to abandonment issues, I need someone that works from home or can take me to work. It’s not enough that I see you. I am ok to be crated for a few hours. I need a house with a fenced in yard (no apartments as I have a very loud voice), another non-dominant dog companion to cuddle and play with, and absolutely no cats! I will say that even with a sibling, you will be my main focus as I would like to be your shadow, run all your errands with you, and nibble on your fingers and toes (I’m very gentle). I am spayed, love all toys, car rides, to be pet and loved, and am food/treat motivated. Potty training has gone well. If you think I could make a great addition to your family, please apply to adopt me! A breed savvy person would be best for me. Frenchies have a lot of issues and my anxiety is one of them! I love to be with you and I want somebody that has time for me. I will be your best pal! Located in El Sobrante caSeptember 2, 2025, 9:02 am

Story
Linus is part of Charlie Brown Litter. Holly mom is French Bull Dog /Boston Terrier mix. 2/16/24 DNA test results: Dad was a Cattle Dog 40% and 9% Border Collie. They should be medium size adults and smart. Holly was abandoned at a distant shelter and was very pregnant. Linus' DOB: 12/1/23. Once we rescued Holly and she arrived at her foster home within 2 hours she went into labor and gave birth to 5 puppies. 2 girls and 3 boys. Whew! Just in time. All the pups and mom did great at their foster home. Home raised healthy lovable and social. The 5 pups are now learning at their next foster home for puppy training. All are playful snuggly and lovable. We do not know what they are mixed with. They seem larger than Frenchie pups and have tails. We will start to review applications Jan 20th. Puppies will be 8 weeks old on Jan. 27th and will get their first vaccinations and deworm. Need home with attached backyard. More info. to come on each puppy's personality. 1/24/24 Update: The 3 boys are fairly similar all playful and slower than the girls. Linus and Snoopy are a little more timid but get more playful when riled up by Brody. All love attention and to be held. They all did very well getting their first shots and these puppies are extremely smart and well behaved for such young puppies. They are learning sit and not to bite and are all doing very very well. They will make wonderful family pets for someone. Their temperament is fantastic gentle playful and sweet. 2/9/24 Update 10 weeks old: Patty is definitely the smallest with smallest paws. Snoopy and Linus are about the same size 12 pounds and Patty is 10 lbs.. I think they will be medium sized dogs. Snoopy and Linus are slower and calmer. Patty is spunky and more independent and curious and a little more Frenchie personality . All learning crate training. Few accidents on pee pads now. They will hold to go out to backyard for potty biz. 3/1/25 Update: Linus is older kid friendly. He loves to get cuddles and loves belly rubs. He poops and pees in backyard. He likes to play with his brother Charlie. They enjoy running and playing with each other. He likes to go for a walk. He is trained to be in a crate to sleep. Able to understand instructions: come sit walk wait walk with me. In English and Hindi. Linus loves all varieties of dog friendly fruits and vegetables. Loves long drives. Basically he just loves to stay with family. Need experienced guardian to guide him. 5/2/25 Update: Linus needs and wants routine home. He gets very nervous with change. At his foster boarding home and trainer after a day or two he is great with large dogs and they run/play. However he is reactive to new incoming dogs into their home. He does fine on walks and did fine at our showcases with new people and other dogs. 7/11/25 Update: Linus needs a new foster home due to previous foster home's travels. He is now in a boarding/training foster home as we search for adopter or foster to adopter. He is smart and learning all commands. He is social friendly and great with all dogs and people. Lovable and very sweet once he adjusts. Loves running and playing with the adult big dogs and teen pups. Prefers to have someone around. Did great with vet exam and everyone adores him. CATS: Tama vet has an office cat that has walked around him and he didn’t seem to care.September 8, 2025, 12:37 am

Story
French Bulldog Age: 2-3 yrs old Female, Spayed 18 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Francine was brought to the Oakland Shelter as a stray. During the intake process, shelter staff noticed fecal and urine “leakage.” Upon examination, Francine was diagnosed with sacrocaudal dysgenesis, a common condition in dogs bred with no tails (pugs, bulldogs, Corgis, etc.) The tail isn’t allowed to fully form resulting in defects such as incontinence (bowel and urinary). Unfortunately, Francine is incontinent, requiring her to wear diapers while in the house. Our experienced foster homes are happy to consult with prospective adopters in the proper care of an incontinent dog. With the proper materials and routine, caring for an incontinent dog is fairly easy. She also had a “cherry eye” which was repaired during her spay surgery. Otherwise, Francine is a friendly, loyal, playful, confident dog. At the adoption center she wants attention from everyone who visits. She lives in a foster home with another French bulldog (who is available for adoption from another rescue group), and they get along very well, However, being a “bully” breed, she can be a little bit of a bully with smaller dogs and cats. For more information about Francine, you email us at: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com
