Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $600   Jenga is a 3 year old French Bulldog who we rescued from the local shelter. A cold kennel is no place for such a handsome guy like Jenga! This dude is all the best parts of the Frenchie breed. Those who know and love Frenchies should look no further than Jenga. We will be prioritizing homes who have experience with this type of breed and are aware of their health concerns. Jenga has seen an eye specialist and is “mostly blind” in both eyes. To be honest, he’s so confident that it took us a few months to notice he couldn’t see too well, which says a lot about him! He doesn’t let a little thing like vision stop him from living his best life.    Below is a note from Jenga’s foster.  “Jenga is a very sweet dog who would love nothing more than to curl up on your lap and snuggle the day away. He sometimes gets the absolute funniest zoomies when he needs to get bursts of energy out, but he is a total couch potato. Unlike any other dog I have ever fostered, Jenga seems to know when screens are in front of him and loves to show off for attention on Zoom calls, which is a truly amazing skill for a dog who can’t see very well. When the camera calls, it calls!  He is just such a character.  Jenga wakes up around 8 AM and goes for a morning walk about half an hour later. He gets breakfast at 9 AM. When I work from home. he loves to cuddle next to me on the couch or take naps on the floor nearby. He gets another walk at around 6:30 PM and then gets his dinner. He goes to bed with me around 11:30 PM.  Jenga walks very well on the leash. He loves to sniff all the good smells out there and show off his amazing looks to his adoring public. Due to his vision issues, Jenga would do best as a solo dog in his forever home, as he startles easily when he is surprised. This distinguished gentleman is looking for his throne and we promised we’d deliver him one!   Jenga is only an option for those who have prior dog experience, with priority given to those who understand the Frenchie breed. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7. April 26, 2024, 2:38 am

Snoopy is part of Charlie Brown Litter. Holly mom is French Bull Dog /Boston Terrier mix. 2/16/24 DNA test results: Dad was a Cattle Dog 40% and 9% Border Collie. They should be medium size adults and smart. Holly was abandoned at a distant shelter and was very pregnant. Snoopy's DOB: 12/1/23. Once we rescued Holly and she arrived at her foster home within 2 hours she went into labor and gave birth to 5 puppies. 2 girls and 3 boys. Whew! Just in time. All the pups and mom did great at their foster home. Home raised healthy lovable and social. The 5 pups are now learning at their next foster home for puppy training. All are playful snuggly and lovable. We do not know what they are mixed with. They seem larger than Frenchie pups and have tails. We will start to review applications Jan 20th. Puppies will be 8 weeks old on Jan. 27th and will get their first vaccinations and deworm. Need home with attached backyard. More info. to come on each puppy's personality. As the pups grow they need more one on one training. If not adopted by 1/27/24 each puppy need foster homes to continue their training and socialization. 1/24/24 Update: The 3 boys are fairly similar all playful and slower than the girls. Linus and Snoopy are a little more timid but get more playful when riled up by Brody. All love attention and to be held. They all did very well getting their first shots and these puppies are extremely smart and well behaved for such young puppies. They are learning sit and not to bite and are all doing very very well. They will make wonderful family pets for someone. Their temperament is fantastic gentle playful and sweet. Almost there on house-training. They love to go out to backyard to play and potty biz. 2/9/24 Update 10 weeks old: Patty is definitely the smallest and smallest paws. Snoopy and Linus are about the same size 12 pounds and Patty is 10 lbs.. I think they will be medium sized dogs. Snoopy and Linus are slower and calmer. Patty is spunky and more independent and curious and a little more Frenchie personality . All are learning crate training with less accidents on pee pads and they go out to backyard for potty biz. 3/15/24 Need foster home for one on one puppy training and socials.April 24, 2024, 1:05 am

Story
French Bulldog Age: 2-3 yrs old Female, spayed 24 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Mary Lou was brought to the Stockton shelter by someone who said they “found her.” The “finder” thought that maybe she had been hit by a car, which is why she didn’t have any use of her back legs? However, there were no signs of trauma. Given her breed and that she was obviously used for breeding with no signs of ever having a C-section, it is likely that she injured her back giving natural puppy birth (French Bulldogs require C-section surgery to safely birth puppies, but there are a lot of unscrupulous backyard breeders just trying to make a buck and taking shortcuts - leaving the dogs to suffer. Many of the dogs we work with that have no use of their back legs recover to some degree with work. Mary Lou hasn’t made much progress in this area, so will likely be a paraplegic dog for the remainder of her life. She prefers to drag the hind legs behind her, rather than using a cart. And because she doesn’t have use of her back legs, pee and pooping has it’s challenges, as well. In addition to no use of her back legs, she does have some medical conditions that are common to the bulldog breed (allergies, ear infections, and the occasional urinary tract infections associated with her urinary challenges). * * * * STOP BREEDING BULLDOGS!!!! * * * * Mary Lou qualifies for our “permanent foster” program where we support her vet needs for the remainder of her life (as long as she is fostered/adopted locally). On the other hand, she is super, super sweet. She loves everyone: humans and canines (and maybe cats? Not sure). She needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. She would prefer a home with another friendly dog. For more information about Mary Lou, contact nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Story
French Fry is a bit of a diva; she likes to be the center of attention and claim her person for herself! When in a calm household, she is a good girl and a nice companion. She sleeps well in a crate or a dog bed and is completely housebroken. French Fry loves to chew, so she'll be thrilled if her new family has plenty of yummy snacks on hand for her. She has puppy energy and loves to follow her person everywhere they go, before flopping down next to them to relax. She weighs 22.8 pounds and is estimated to be between 1 and 4 years old.French Fry was diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease at T12-13 and possibly 11-12 and L1-2. This is a condition where disk material presses against the ligament and the spinal cord. Symptoms can include back pain, ataxia and paraplegia. She is currently on an anti inflammatory and gabapentin which are controlling her symptoms well. She will need to be on these medications ongoing. There is a possibility that symptoms can worsen and surgery may need to be pursued.Have you fallen in love? Ready to adopt? All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, April 6th at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-3pm, unless he/she is set up and adopted prior to the event. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $700   Jello is a 4 month old Pug mix (currently 6.6 pounds) who is as lovely as can be and can’t wait to make your life sweeter! Jello and his brother, Pudding, came to our rescue after being saved from a hoarding situation. When we originally arrived, we didn’t even know these sweet boys existed, but we refused to leave any dog behind so into the rescue they came! While we aren’t sure what Mom or Dad looked like, we suspect these brothers will remain under 15 pounds fully grown. We will be looking for individual homes for each puppy as we do not place siblings in the same home.    Jello is the leader between the two boys but only in planning the social calendar! Jello adores his toys and lives his life aiming to have more fun every day! He is an absolute character and brightens any room he enters (or more accurately comes crashing into with his brother right behind him). Jello loves playing tug of war and is figuring out how to play fetch. Jello loves cuddles as well, and often wraps his hands around an arm or hand when he is ready to snooze so he can make you nap with him! He will never say no to climbing into an open lap for some scratches as he gives out puppy kisses. This sweet boy is cute enough to eat and lives up to his namesake by making life better by the day.  Pudding is a true Mama’s Boy and would love spending his entire day being coddled and snuggled if he could. Don’t let that make you think he doesn’t like to play though! Pudding can get down with his brother and loves snatching toys and zooming away with them as fast as his little legs can carry him. Pudding practically melts when he gets belly rubs and will often fall asleep on his back as he gets loved on. Pudding follows his brother around faithfully but doesn’t let Jello take advantage of him! He will happily flop down on top of Jello when he decides it is time for a nap and then he is off in dreamland!    The brothers start their day at 7 AM with breakfast as their pen is cleaned out. They spend some time playing with each other and their toys after breakfast. They are working on basic training and have already started learning quite a few tricks! Throughout the morning, they play together and nap together in an adorable cycle until 1 PM, when they eat lunch. Once the foster family comes home, the puppies spend their evening getting their zoomies out as they race around the house before flopping over for naps. They have dinner at 6 PM and enjoy some boiled chicken with their kibble. They get some time in the yard to sniff and play after dinner, where they also work on some more tricks. After it gets dark, everyone comes inside and the puppies enjoy some snuggles on the couch until they go to bed at 8 PM in their pen.  The puppies get along well with dogs of all ages and sizes. They were polite with the resident cat. They love people and adore their human foster siblings. Jello and Pudding will require continued socialization and training to ensure they grow up to be the perfect pups we know they can be! We expect any interested home to provide a plan for training once the puppy joins your household.    Jello is only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.April 26, 2024, 2:38 am

Adoption Fee: $700   The NYT Games Puppies are a litter of playful puppies who can’t wait to help you complete your daily game rotation! These puppies are 3 months old and we think they are a mix of Shih Tzu x Pekingese x Pug x Beagle (ok we really put on our sleuth caps but may need a few ‘hints’). These puppies were surrendered to us at 8 weeks old as the result of an oopsie litter. We promised to find all four of these boys the best forever homes and they can’t wait to make life joyful for their new families!    Spelling Bee: Bee is a total Mama’s boy who loves giving kisses as he snuggles into your lap. He weighs 10 pounds as of March 27. He adores his canine companions and would love a sibling in his new home. Like any good Puggle, Bee will do just about anything for a treat or a cuddle so he will be a total goofy joy in your home! Bee also knows how to strike a pose as you hit “Genius”, so a model dog is in your future!  Connection: Connection is Mr. Personality who lights up any room he tumbles into! Connection weighs 10.2 pounds as of March 27. Connection is the most confident of his siblings, and loves roping his brothers into long wrestling sessions as he zooms around the yard. Connection doesn’t have a shy bone in his body and he totally knows that he is the world’s cutest puppy! With his Shih Tzu coat, you will want to pet him for hours at a time as you puzzle over the daily Connections puzzle, and he is happy to be by your side as you win!  Crossword: Crossword is the biggest cuddlebug who has the softest fur and the sweetest personality. He weighs 7 pounds as of March 27. Crossword loves to give kisses and his favorite spot is wherever you are (or a soft blanket). Crossword is figuring out this whole toy thing and has discovered that toys magically appear in his pen whenever he nibbles on a finger. This gorgeous Pekingese mix also loves being brushed and doted on. With Crossword by your side, you will hit a new high score every day!  Sudoku: Sudoku is a sweet and sensitive pup who can’t wait to blossom in his forever home! Sudoku weighs 7 pounds as of March 27. Sudoku is the most laid-back of the brothers, preferring to let his brothers try new things before he gets involved. Once he knows and loves you though, he is all in! Despite his small size, he dutifully watches over his brothers as their protector, which is absolutely adorable. You’ll find Sudoku ready to help you check off easy, medium, hard AND expert mode (just as long as he gets a cookie out of it)!   The puppies start their day at 8 AM with a trip outside to zoom around and potty before they come inside for breakfast in a cleaned out pen. They spend their morning cycling between sleep, snacks, and playtime with each other. They love a good puppy pile and are always eager to follow the leader in endless circles. After lunchtime, they get some outside time as long as the sun is out and get to sniff out adventure. In the evening, they have dinner and then get one-on-one snuggle time with their foster family before heading to bed to start again. The puppies have been well socialized with dogs of all ages and sizes. They have been introduced to cats and were respectful. They will require continued training and socialization, especially with people, so we will be looking for homes with a strong plan for training. We will be looking for individual homes for each boy, as we do not place siblings together.
