For the first two years of his life, Ozzy didn't know the comfort of a warm couch or the joy of being part of everyday family life. He spent his days outside on a chain with a family in Louisiana. They shared that he was wonderful with their children, but when a third baby arrived, they made the decision to give him up. Now Ozzy has a second chance—and he's making the most of every kind word, gentle touch, and belly rub! This handsome, long-legged boy is about 2 years old and currently weighs 59 pounds, though he'd love to fill out to around 70 pounds. Every day, his goofy, affectionate personality shines a little brighter. Ozzy absolutely adores people. In fact, he's so thrilled to have human attention that he sometimes forgets his manners and tries to "hug" you by wrapping his front legs around you. It's not bad behavior—it's simply the sweetest dog who's making up for lost time. With consistent training, he's already learning that four paws on the floor earn him all the love he could want. Ozzy is smart, eager to please, and loves being told he's a good boy. He sits politely for treats, takes them gently, walks nicely on a leash and happily returns to his kennel when asked. His kennel stays clean, a good sign he is house-broken, and he enjoys having a blanket and a few toys to call his own. He has that perfect young-dog energy—happy zoomies one minute, then content to sit quietly beside you soaking up pets and affection the next. Watching him romp around the yard is pure joy, but what melts your heart is how often he checks back in with his person, just to make sure you're still there. Ozzy gets along well with the dogs he's met and has shown no signs of aggression. He'd likely enjoy a canine companion, but he'd also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only best friend. His cat compatibility is still unknown. Ozzy would thrive with an active family willing to continue his training and give him the life he's always deserved. A fenced yard, regular walks or jogs, plenty of playtime, and lots of affection would make him one very happy boy. And if you catch him splashing in his water bowl, don't be surprised. Maybe swimming opportunities would be on Ozzy's wish list too. Most of all, he's looking for someone who will never leave him behind again. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. Maia is a truly stunning 3 year old English Cream Retriever. This girl’s beauty shines both inside and out. She was surrendered to us from a puppy mill and is still acclimating to life in a home. Although she learned the routine in her foster home quickly, she is still timid with new things and new people. Maia is looking for a quiet, patient home willing to put in the extra time to make her feel truly comfortable. She is learning to love treats, toys, and affection. This doll does the sweetest happy dance for her people and is finally beginning to seek out attention. She is so joyful and carefree when she plays with her canine companions so she needs a home with another dog who can play with her and continue to show her the good life. He is available for adoption, long-term foster, or co-ownership with the rescue to ensure he is supported and cared for for the rest of his life. Adopting a senior dog can feel scary. Questions about health, time, and “what if” naturally come up. But it doesn’t have to be overwhelming — especially when you’re not doing it alone. We offer lifetime support, and with a senior like Bo, that partnership truly matters. What this co-ownership and foster could look like: Co-ownership or long term foster means Bo becomes part of your family, while the rescue remains actively involved in supporting his long-term well-being. He has lived as an only dog but has been socialized with dogs his size. If placed with a canine companion, a slow and thoughtful introduction will be important. He would do best with dogs his size or smaller and non-dominant personalities. Bo has been cat-tested and would not be appropriate for a cat household, as he shows too much interest. He has previously been around children and has done well. Bo is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and consistently maintained on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. He recently had bloodwork and a fecal test — both clear. He has some mild hearing loss, but it certainly doesn’t impact his quality of life .. he can still hear a treat bag crinkle from across the room. Bo is being rehomed because his beloved owner is transitioning into a nursing home. This decision was made with deep care and love. For years, Bo provided steady companionship, comfort, and emotional regulation to his elderly owner. He was and is deeply loved. Ensuring his continued well-being means everything to us. In his younger years, Bo graduated puppy class and learned his basic commands. He is housebroken and understands home routines well. While he can be strong on leash, he has more recently enjoyed the ease of being let out into a yard for bathroom breaks rather than long walks. He is a gentle, affectionate soul who will make a wonderful companion for the right family.   Dottie is a Chocolate and White female puppy who is a spunky and loving girl who wants only to be near her foster mom everywhere she goes.  Born to a beautiful, homeless Golden Retriever mix momma named Honey, Dottie was part of a litter of 8 puppies soon became a rumor of desertion and abandonment in a small town rural area of Tennessee.  Their momma Honey was known to travel the roadside looking for food and sustenance and people talked of her puppies being located in a wooded area and roaming.  A kind single mom with 2 children of her own and working two jobs, heard the rumor, and went looking for this desperate little family.  She found momma Honey and her brood living under a flat bed trailer at the edge of a wooded area. We have the pictures and video.  Rescue foster mom, Kayla, took them home and soon a search was started to find help from a rescue group that could secure homes and vetting assistance for this large family.   Critter Cavalry stepped up even though this foster family were 3.5 hours  away. Everyone made it work. Dottie is a pretty girl who will one day be a 55-60 pounds girl with the sweetest face that is accented and remembered for her deeply green eyes and chocolate polka dots and freckles.  She is fun loving and wants to be in the middle of the party action when her siblings are having too much fun.  She is an observant girl that is sensitive and loves to know what is going on all around her at all times. She is very bright and an active girl that is engaged and ready to have all the fun she can in life.  A wonderful girl who will be your greatest cuddle companion as you grab a bowl of Popcorn and turn on your favorite TV shows to binge on for a weekend of getting lost from all the cares of the world, Dottie is there for you and will be your favorite Mini ME as she mirrors the mood and energy level of her new owner and family.    She is destined to be a 50-55 pound girl but will always be a  puppy who is eager to learn and easy going with her attitude toward life.  She has the most beautiful green eyes and the softest skin that is so ready to be stroked and petted.  She is growing and she will be a perfect family companion as she is displays her easy nature at all the right times in life.  Not one aggressive bone in her body.  Dottie has been around young children and great and also has been around a small cat as well and did well.  She is a chameleon in life.  She will adjust and fit right in wherever she is planted.
