Story
Duke was unfortunately surrendered on 12/31/25 as a result of a divorce. He has been an outdoor dog guarding goats for his prior owner. We are still learning more about Duke and will update when we can (or reach out to us to learn more).  He is neutered. He will get his shots and microchip prior to going to a new home.  We will also assess his livestock guardian skills prior to going to a LGD home. His previous owners report he kills snakes (including a cottonmouth) and possums on his past farm. He will headbutt playful billy goats. He also herds the goats but has not hurt them on his past farm. The rescue recommends a rattlesnake vaccine given his inclination to fight snakes. Our regular vet does not offer this vaccine.  Duke loves the rain and mud. His past owners report he will literally dance in the rain.  His past owners had him on inconsistent heartworm meds so he will be heartworm tested and treated prior to adoption.   Duke does not like people (especially new people) touching his collar/ neck or offering a flat hand to him (such as a flat hand with a treat). He takes treats just fine if you're pinching the treat. His past owners suggested he may have been abused by his first owners. They say he had never bitten but has given warnings when he's afraid. Many true LGDs want minimal interaction with people. He can be handled with a slip lead and travels reasonably well in the car.  ##2619358##

Story
I acquired my pet through our family. She is 3 years old and has been well cared for, healthy, and up to date on basic needs. They have a calm, affectionate personality and enjoy being around people but very territorial around young children. In a new home, I’m looking for someone who can provide stability, attention, and a loving environment. I also would prefer someone who lives on a farm, ranch or lots of outdoor space. My pet would do best with an owner who has the time to engage with them and make them part of the family. I would describe my pet as loyal, gentle, playful, and loves to be outside.

Story
Koa is a sweet, playful boy with a heart as big as his curiosity. He loves being part of whatever you&#39re doing and will happily follow you from room to room just to be near you. Smart and observant, he&#39s always tuned in and ready for the next adventure. Playtime is Koa&#39s love language. Tug of war is his absolute favorite, and he enjoys daily walks and good, energetic play sessions. Chew toys are a must for this fun loving guy. But above all else, Koa lives for affection, pets are his number one joy in life, and he&#39ll happily curl up in your lap or snuggle right beside you on the couch to soak up every bit of love. Koa is wonderful with kids; he&#39s gentle, patient, and enjoys watching them play. He does need to be the only dog in the home, where he can shine as the loyal, devoted companion he&#39s meant to be. If you&#39re looking for a loving, attentive, playful best friend who will always be by your side, Koa might just be your perfect match. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (www.dfwrescueme.org) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Koa is s participating in the DFW Rescue Me guest dog program, so ongoing care and custody is provided by her foster, not by DFWRM.January 6, 2026, 9:18 pm

Story
We took Ryder in after a friend found a bunch of puppies on the side of the road. We had planned to just get him neutered and started with good household behavior and then find him a great home. Our jobs and lifestyle do not allow us the time that he needs to get past the general crate, leash and potty training. He wants to be VERY active, loves to play, loves toys, loves to hear good boy, and is sweet and happy! Ryder will come with his crate(if you want it) and all of his giant, tough, and beloved toys.
