Animal Profile: Louie is an estimated 7-year-old, 65 lb neutered male Great Pyrenees Australian Cattle Dog mix who hails originally from Texas. Louie is a stunning boy with a coat that is just as soft as it looks, and the most adorable ears! He is a veritable porch dog who enjoys the company of his family and lounging around wherever his people are. Louie is house trained, crate trained, knows commands, and has no separation anxiety. True to his breeds, he is loyal and loving with his family but discerning of new people and animals. Louie gets along with other dogs off leash and -- with professional training -- now walks nicely on leash and listens to commands. Louie has lived with cats but does have some chase instinct on walks toward small animals so a dog-savvy cat and mindful introductions to cats in the home would be needed. Louie enjoys companionship, belly rubs and short walks -- his energy level is more Pyr than Cattle Dog and he will do OK with low to moderate exercise. Louie will do best with an owner who has strong leadership skills and an understanding of his breed mix to set him up for success. She is part of an accidental litter and the family wanted to make sure they were responsibly placed through AARC. Lilly is a playful, sweet, calm girl who loves other dogs and people. She has been in a loving foster home in TX while waiting for her freedom ride to the PNW. Foster Profile: Lily is a sweet gentle soul. She’s learning to bring out her rough and tumble side and we see her make more choices with gumption daily which is great to see. The first few days transitioning into the groove at her foster home things were overwhelming for her but it turns out she’s really not a shy girl at all! She really enjoys both people and dogs. She may still need a slower intro with a more boisterous dog but eventually really enjoys running and wrestling. Potty training was also a big learning curve for her but we have seen HUGE improvements in that category as well. She’s calm and quiet in her crate. When she’s a sleepy girl she’s a total noodle which is exceptionally cute with her growing body. We expect her to be medium to large with how quickly she’s already growing. Lily loves food to support all of her speedy growing. She currently lives with a dog savvy cat and is doing well existing and interacting. He came into our care as an owner surrender when his previous owner was no longer able to care for him. This sweet boy loves being close to his people and would thrive in a home where someone is around often to spend time with him. Odin would also love a securely fenced yard where he can explore, patrol, and enjoy the outdoors at his own pace. A quiet suburban or rural setting would be ideal - apartment living or a busy city environment would not be a good fit for him. Odin is hearing impaired, which means he can become startled and lash out if approached unexpectedly. Because of this, he will need a confident adopter who understands his needs and is willing to help him adjust safely as he learns his new home, routine, and family. An adult-only home with is required to ensure everyone, including Odin, is set up for success. He would do best in a quieter household without a lot of people coming and going, allowing him to feel secure and build trust with his family at his own pace.
