All cats and dogs adopted from the Chequamegon Humane Association are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped. Dogs are tested for heartworm. A minimum adoption fee of $185 is required for adult dogs, puppy adoption fees start $300, and dogs over the age of 10 are $100. Adult cat adoption fees are $85, kittens under one year are $135, and cats over the age of 10 are $50.

Kong is a BIG boy that loves to be outside and playing with other dogs. He is potty trained and lays nicely in his kennel at the shelter when inside. He is a Great Pyrenees mix so when and if he is outside he can be serious about his guarding duties and will bark at anything he hears or sees. But inside is quiet. Hi, I'm Mouse - a quiet, gentle girl who's learning what it means to feel safe and loved. I came from a hoarding situation in Texas, where I likely lived outside with very little human interaction. Life was pretty scary and uncertain back then, but since arriving here, I've started to discover that people can be kind and that it feels nice to be cared for. I'm still a timid soul and can be unsure in new situations, but I'm slowly gaining confidence every day. I don't usually come running up for attention just yet, but if you move slowly and speak softly, I'll gladly accept gentle pets and reassurance. I feel safest when things are calm and quiet, and I'm especially comforted by calm voices and patient people. I'm still learning how to walk on a leash, and I'm not quite interested in toys or treats right now - I'm taking things one step at a time. I'd do best in a peaceful home with respectful children who understand that I need a little extra patience. I might also do well with another calm, confident dog who can show me the ropes and help me feel more secure. If you have a soft spot for shy dogs and the patience to help me bloom, I know I'll reward you with quiet loyalty and a gentle heart. Great Pyrenees = EXCELLENT Farm Dog Have a big Great Pyrenees ready to go to work protecting your flock and property. At about 135lbs, he's not a lap dog, go-fetch dog or a kids riding toy. He keeps the coyotes far away from my chickens and plays well with my other dog. He does not appreciate strangers roaming about the property either. Ideal home for him would be a large fenced in area and living with the animals you need protected. He was Vet checked in Sept and up to date on his rabies shots. Looks like a pure bred but has no papers. He's about 4-5 years old and has been neutered. Larger dog on right in picture is being offered rehoming fee is to cover listing cost and misc... I'd list him free, but want to ensure he goes to a good home that will give him a good life

History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own! A Note from the Foster: Chapo may be 80lbs, but he’s actually a big baby lap dog. He loves every friend he meets and in fact gets upset if someone doesn’t come to pet him. He is quite playful and loves to play with his toys and other dogs. His favorite toys are the noisiest ones! Hanging his head out the car window is one of his favorite pastimes, aside from cuddling and attention of course. Structure and rules are new to him and he has a lot to learn, but he does so willingly with the help of deli turkey. Chapo requires (though he deserves it) lots of love and attention. His family should be one willing to spend lots of time with him! Chapo has a strong prey drive, so no small pets or cats in the home. He is committed to keeping your yard free of any squirrels, rabbits or neighborhood cats! He will need someone confident and firm as he is a typical stubborn Pyrenees. He doesn’t live with children, but has seen them and has acted positively towards them. Due to his young spirit, playful energy and large size, he would do best in a home with a larger dog. He does have a tendency to howl when left alone, so no shared walls will be ideal.
