Story
Hi everyone! I’m Azula I may not breathe blue fire like my Airbender namesake, but I do have a special power—my loving blue gaze that will absolutely melt your heart (just ask my foster mom!). I’m a 40 pound, 1-year-old Lab/Husky mix with a playful spirit and a big, affectionate heart. I love being around my people and will happily stick close by for pets, cuddles, and attention. I didn’t get nearly enough attention in the shelter after i was abandoned, so I’m soaking it all up now.  I also get along great with other dogs and enjoy having playmates! Kids? I like them too! I can get a little excited when meeting new friends and might jump up at first, so I’d do best with slightly older kiddos or a family who can help me practice polite greetings. Fetch, tug, and chase are all top-tier games in my book. But if I’m being honest… treats are everything. I love them, which makes me a fast learner! In just the first week in my foster home, I learned Sit, Crate, Shake, and Touch—and I’m excited to keep learning more. I walk nicely on a leash and settle down quietly in my crate—pretty impressive, right? I’m still working on a few things: I’m not a big fan of car rides or baths, but I handle them like a champ when needed.  I like cats a little too much, so a cat-free home would be best for me. Want to see more of me in action? Check out my Instagram @AdoptAzula for videos, updates, and all my latest tricks. If you think I could be your next perfect pet, please apply to adopt me!     Every PAWS dog is loved, vetted, and ready for a fresh start July 1, 2026, 4:12 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Mars! I am a friendly boy and I like to be your little shadow. I am a quick learner and doing well on leash walking and potty training. I learned a few tricks like sit, touch, and down. I am working on crate training and meeting new animals because sometimes I bork bork at them, but I am learning to be calm around new friends. I am living with dogs of all sizes and ages and learning how to be a respectable young man. I have a big ol’ head but it’s more rectangular (not rounded like a pittie). I would probably do well in a home with other dogs who tolerate puppies, and any humans including kids. I haven’t met a cat yet- bet I will bork at them at first and then probably be fine. I hope to meet my new family soon! More info about Mars: DOB: 2/7/26 estimated Weight: 26 lbs, puppy weight calculator says he should mature around 90 Breed: mom was a lab or lab mix (photos at end), dad is unknown but maybe a hound/husky mix (his brother, Snickers, has a blue eye and they will have medium length fur).   Every PAWS dog is loved, vetted, and ready for a fresh start July 1, 2026, 4:12 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Snickers! I’m a Labrador/Husky/Hound mix pup. I was born this February and am already 26lbs! I am estimated to be a very big boy (maybe even 90lbs according to the predicted dog weight calculator).  I’m in the process of learning all the puppy basics like house and crate training. I already know sit and down My new adopters will need to keep up my training so I grow up to be a confident and happy dog! P.S. I love treats, so those will definitely help me learn!  I can be chill but I am a puppy, after all! My favorite thing is belly rubs and pets! I howl/bark when seeing other dogs but it’s because I want to play with them!  A Good Samaritan saved us after learning my siblings and I were going to be abandoned. A few people chipped in to get us fixed! My brother, Mars, is available for adoption with PAWS! Every PAWS dog is loved, vetted, and ready for a fresh start July 1, 2026, 4:12 pm

Story
🌸 Meet Arden — From Barely Surviving to Her First Walk 🌸This is Arden, a 9-year-old mama who’s learning that life doesn’t have to hurt.Just weeks ago, she was rescued after giving birth to 8 puppies. She was found in critical condition with infected wounds that required emergency surgery and days of intensive hospital care. Her babies were bottle-fed around the clock while she fought to recover. She’s met other animals in her foster home, including the cat who has appointed himself the official welcome committee for every new foster, along with 3 other dogs. She’s figured out that couches are for sleeping on (not just looking at), and is slowly realizing that gentle hands mean good things. Her healing journey isn’t finished, but she’s already showing us who she really is: resilient, trusting, and ready for more.If you’re looking for a dog who knows what matters and won’t take a single good day for granted — she might be your girl. 💕Apply to meet Arden at ricopetrecovery.org. The adoption fee for Arden is $200. She has been spayed and is up to date on vaccines.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Sassy is currently at county pound but we will pull her if we can find a foster.Sassy and 8 other dogs were taken from abusive owners.  Prior to being seized, Sassy lived indoors and never went outside. We have a volunteer who has gone to the shelter and has taken Sassy for walks and reports that Sassy is a wonderful dog!  She is good on a leash and loves belly rubs.Sassy needs to be on a strong leash at all times.  She gets spooked easily (remember, all of this is new to her) by cars, loud noises, etc.Sassy is approximately 40 pounds.  She has been spayed.  Sassy lived with dozens of cats prior to being seized and taken to the shelter.Apply to foster Sassy and help her learn to trust people and gain confidence at ricopetrecovery.org

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Keeba is an almost 13, Husky/Golden Retriever mix. He’s a kind, gentle soul who loves affection. You wouldn’t guess his age—he still gets bursts of energy and does "zoomies" in the yard with his sister (Missy). He’s very easygoing, does well with cats and kids, and has had limited exposure to other dogs but has a calm, beta personality when he meets them.He is incredibly sweet and bonded with Missy so we would love to see them go to the same home if possible but will consider splitting them up if we need to. They have been together pretty much their whole lives.

Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Willow is a little bit older girl that is still full of life. Willow needs a home without cats, and she seems dog selective here. She probably would do best in a home where she is the only pet. Willow was a humane case. She is on the thin side but is gaining weight. If you are interested in Willow, please fill out an online application and we will schedule appointment for you to visit with her.
