FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet the Russian Litter! Yup, pretty obvious what breed they are... Husky!! These sweet babies are 49% Husky and then a smidge of this, a smatter of that! They are beyond beautiful, super social, smart and of course a touch sass. Viktor's foster said he's a lovely boy - and enjoys being with his people. He and his brother are the bigger puppies in the litter. The boys seem to be a little more velcro - a little less wild child! Ha!! We think a home with a large fenced yard, Husky (or similar breed) experience, time of training and fun adventures. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated to appropriate age when they go home. They will need final puppy shots, including rabies at 16 weeks. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience). You must be willing to start socializing and training as soon vaccinations are completed at 16 weeks. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoptions typically take place in Marysville. They will be attending our Valentine's Day event at Skookum Brewery on Saturday, February 7th, from 2-6PM for people that want to come meet them. We will be available to do adoptions that day as well on approved applications. Adoption fee is $525. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

Story
Bolt is a brilliant, high-energy 3yo (stray till 9mo). He is retiring from Service Dog training and needs a dedicated home. He is rock-solid in public: no pulling, barking, or reacting. He is fully task-trained (DPT, stability, mobility) and a "quiet ghost" in stores/restaurants. He loves tug and pets from his favorite people. The Challenge: Despite 2yrs of elite training, Bolt has a persistent indoor marking habit. This behavior is deeply ingrained from his time as a stray. He cannot have free roam of a house. He requires strict management (crate, tethering, or learning belly bands) or a home with a yard/floors where this isn't a dealbreaker. He is not currently used to belly bands and will need training for them. Included: 2 crates, food containers, toys, 1 month of food, and a whole lot of enzyme cleaner. Ideal Home: An active owner who understands working breeds and structure. He is a world-class companion for the right person!
