Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Miso is from Texas. He was found there wandering the streets, and was brought into rescue as soon as his stray hold was up. Miso is your typical high energy pup who is more interested in playing than just about anything else. He's super playful, adores toys, craves attention, loves kids (older kids for now as he’s still a rambunctious puppy), gets along with dogs, and thrives in all the action. When he's tuckered out, he transforms into an excellent snuggler, making him the perfect cuddle companion. Sure, he's had a few accidents, but he's making great progress with potty training and usually goes outside every time. His crate manners are impressive too! Occasionally, he may express himself with a few cries or barks when you put him in, but it's just a temporary burst of enthusiasm. The good news? He settles down quickly and sleeps soundly through the night in his crate without any fuss. Already a star pupil, he's mastered sitting and is incredibly motivated by treats and food, making training a breeze. As expected with any playful puppy, he can be a bit mouthy and jumpy, but it's all in good fun and not excessive. Occasionally, he'll bark to entice our resident dog to play or when settling into his kennel, but overall, he's not overly vocal. In a nutshell, he's a fantastic pup who is bound to bring immense joy and happiness to his future owner! If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you'd like to donate towards this pet's care, you can donate to our Animal Care Fund. Our Animal Care Fund supports the medical and veterinary needs for all Ruff Start Rescue animals. You'll be able to enter this pet's name on the second page of the donation form. Story
Bella Marie is a super sweet senior looking for her forever home. She has been through a lot the last few months and deserves a home that will love her forever! Her previous owner died and she clearly misses him so much. She was anxious when she first came to her foster but she quickly warmed up and now loves being in the mix and getting lots of rubs. Bella is very quiet - she’s never barked in her foster home. She gets along with her foster siblings — they all keep to themselves. She is great on a leash and loves a car ride and chewing on her rawhides. She would be the sweetest companion for anyone looking for a best friend. Bella is about 10 years old and weighs 20 pounds.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.February 23, 2024, 9:59 pm

Story
Meet Poppy! Poppy is a 6yr old, Terrier mix, spayed female and up to date on vaccines/preventatives. She is house trained, kennel trained, and vehicle trained as well. Poppy is a medium energy dog; feisty and likes to socialize BUT she's a little crusty on the outside and super gooey on the inside. She loves her people and her friends; however, you'll need to earn her trust. Poppy can be energetic, plays casually and enjoys sustained games of chase with her friends, on her terms (fun police.) She can get cranky if play becomes too vigorous and she gets pounced on too much/hard. Poppy has a little bit of arthritis, and it can be painful, so she will gladly retreat to the door to let you know she is done with playtime. She is more than willing to go inside, follow you around or curl up, chill, and get her belly rubbed. Being small but mighty, Poppy occasionally has bouts of barking at what she sees moving in the distance and will go zooming up and down the fence line in arousal of anyone/thing approaching; however, she will calm down on her own with minimal intervention from her person. When greeting you, Poppy displays the typical wiggle body and wildly wagging tail. Have you seen how long her tail is?! It waves like a banner over her back and is simply adorable! She may initially hop up to put her feet on you, letting you know she's happy and wants to interact with you, she loves attention and will display a little eagerness to get more loves... so saying her name as she's being petted, and the name of the other dog(s) being petted keeps her content. Noteworthy Behaviors: Poppy displays barrier reactivity with new people/surroundings as a way to express her anxiety in the situation. She will need a person or family, (with older children), who will understand and take their time with her. Once you win her over, she is gold! She is quirky about having her collar touched so she will whine, cower down, and roll to her side. She will display mouthy behavior as you attempt to put a leash on her, but she genuinely wants to go out so don't give up! She will pop right up and head to the door after being leashed!! Key points to consider when adopting Poppy: she is sugar and spice with bursts of energy so great with a laid back and an active family. Honorable mention: Poppy does have a housemate, Sully, who is also up for adoption. If you're looking for two friends, then they are your duo! They would have an easier transition into a new home together but they are not bonded. $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State Fee (includes transport to your area) $50 Fuel temporary fuel surcharge

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.//     Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.org Adoption Fee $250 plus tax Meet Melo with the wagging tail that never seems to stop.  Melo is a playful dog who loves to run, play and explore. He is incredibly friendly and affectionate with people. He loves to look out the window and watch TV. Although he can get pretty excited when he spots a squirrel or his favorite team scores. He is reliably housetrained and enjoy’s sleeping in bed with you or in his kennel. Melo would do well in a home with a yard where he can run and play. Melo does best with slower intros to other dogs who are also willing to engage in some playtime shenanigans. Kids are great but he will want to play with them and may jump up on or knock them over in excitement. We do not know how Melo is with cats.  **Melo has a condition called hypoadrenocorticism (Addison's disease) which is when the adrenal glands do not function properly. The adrenal glands produce numerous important hormones that help to regulate the body. With Addison's disease the adrenal glands do not make enough hormone to properly regulate the body so supplementation is necessary. There is no cure for Addison's disease but it can be well managed with twice daily oral medication and a monthly injection. Recheck bloodwork every 6-12 months will also be required to make sure he remains on the correct medication dose. Cost for the medication is about $50-60 per month. When well-managed with medication Melo can still live a happy and healthy life with a normal expected lifespan. *Melo has had only one crisis and that was when he was first diagnosed. He has had no signs of sickness since being on his meds.***       Please feel free to fill out an ADOPTION APPLICATION by clicking on the button below. Thank You!       Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   or     *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
Mercedes wants to go on walks, be outside, cuddle and eat peanut butter, could you be the one to give her that?? This sweet girl loves to be around people and would benefit from a calm environment  Age: 13 years Breed: Jack Russell Terrier Weight: ~30lbs Kid-Friendly:  She is amazing with kids! She is very tolerant and will let them do whatever they please to her. We have an 11 year old that will put her face on her, and lay right next to her and Mercedes will basically just ignore her. But she loves to cuddle with our girl Cats and Dogs:  We don't have any other dogs or cats that are in our home. She is very interested in them when we go for walks, but we have not introduced her to any since we have had her. Her previous home had 3 dogs and a cat and sounds like she was ok with them Crate Trained:  She adores her crate! We leave the door open for her all the time, and she can choose to hang out on a couple dog beds, or her crate, and she will pick her crate probably 1/4 of the time. She will also put herself to bed when she's ready to go to sleep Potty Trained:  Yes! She has not had an accident in our house yet! Stairs:  She doesn't enjoy them, but she has to go up 2 to get the main floor of our home, and does fine with that. She can jump on our furniture also Favorite treat:  She loves her lick mat with peanut butter. Peanut butter in general is her favorite! She will eat almost any treat though Health concerns/current medications:  Mercedes received a dental 2/20/24 and is feeling much relief. It was noted when she was surrendered that she had chronic ear infections. While under anesthesia,  they were deep cleaned and are being treated. She should receive regular cleanings going forward to keeping them clean and comfortable.  Biggest concern is her anxiety. She takes gabapentin and trazadone 2x per day to relieve some of that. We are working to find the right dosage to help figure out how to keep her calm, but still show her personality   She has had some untreated ear infections that apparently caused her to lose some of her hearing. We haven't had too many issues of her being hard of hearing. You can pet her to wake her up, and if she sees you, she responds well  to hand commands if you teach her and she sees you   Apparently she can have some vision loss, but we haven't noticed that and she doesn't run into things   We also give her a joint supplement with peanut butter on it of course   Adoption fee: $375   As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us.      Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.) Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine. $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test, a microchip, and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.  Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience. We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation. Once you submit your application, our adoption manager will be in touch, so please check your spam folder if you do not see something from us within 7-10 days. Thank you again for your interest in a Grey Face senior. We appreciate your support! February 23, 2024, 5:09 pm
