Story
We have a puppy who is ready to be your knight in shining armor. Meet Knight, everyone. Knight is a several month old lab/shepherd mix that weighs 21 pounds. Knight was found as a stray in Parma and no one claimed him. This little baby is shy and timid. He will need an adopter who will socialize him to new experiences, sounds and places. He is so sweet and seems to be dog friendly. In fact, he has struck up a bro-mance with adoptable dog Rogan in the next-door kennel. A canine companion may be very beneficial for Knight so that he can learn the ropes and conquer the world. You must schedule an appointment to arrange a meet with your resident canine and Knight to make sure everyone gets along. Because he is a puppy, Knight will also need help with housetraining and general leash manners. His version of a walk is to walk into you and in between your legs. He does look to his handler often for direction and is very food-motivated. Compatibility with cats and children is unknown. Knight is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes his vetting which includes neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, and microchip. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Knight. His adoption fee is $200. Please remember that puppies are a lifetime commitment and only apply if you are willing to put in the work to train and socialize your puppy. They will make you crazy at times, but they will forever be your most loyal companions.          Like Parma Animal Shelter on FACEBOOK and help pass the word about our adoptable guests!  Don't forget to share pictures with your friends!  Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/ParmaAnimalShel   Submit an application to adopt on our website parmashelter.org           May 12, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Katie is currently looking for a forever home for her golden years. Katie's owner passed and had nowhere to go. She is currently in a foster home, learning to live, love and trust again. She has done amazing in her foster home. Katie needs structure in her life as she sometimes can have accidents in the home if you don't catch her "outside" cue's. She loves to play! She's not much of a toy play dog but would rather play with her people and get loving!  Katie sleeps through the night and does not have any existing medical needs. She would do best as an only dog but seems to do better with smaller, respectable dogs. She has not been cat tested but judging on her reaction to small wildlife, we think cats would be a no. Older kids would suit her best as well.  She walks great on a leash and doesn't need a crate when left alone (as long as you don't leave food out as she will try to counter surf to the best of her abilities and usually succeeds!) Katie's hearing is not the best but her vision is still good! She may do well in an apartment but would definitely need to be a first floor apartment ONLY.May 4, 2024, 4:18 pm

Story
Hello, my name is Duke. I moved to Ohio from New York to live with my foster family. My family was very sorry to let me go because I am a good boy. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen life circumstances they could not keep me. My foster family takes good care of me. I live with 6 other dogs and 6 kids that I love to play with! I am good with all sizes of dogs, but my foster parents say I need to learn my boundaries better. I don’t take the hint very well when my furry friends say they have had enough. I am a big cuddle bug and love sleeping with people if I am allowed. Mom and Dad say I don’t understand how big and strong I am, so I am sorry if I accidentally knock my kids down or hurt someone jumping into their lap. I love to chew so chew toys are a must. My old Mom said my old Dad was very mean to me, so sometimes I cower when I it seems like I am in trouble and could be hit. I am very afraid of corrective collars, please don’t put one on me. If I bark, it is because I need attention, or I see or hear something outside. I don’t bark unnecessarily. My foster parents say I need more training. I know sit and come but I don’t always listen. I am very food motivated so that is a benefit for training. I currently eat my lunch and dinner in my crate because I have foster siblings that don't like to share food and my foster parents don't want anyone to get in a fight. My Mom gets up at 6 in the morning for work, so I am used to going out in the morning at 6:30 and then being in my crate until 5. I do well in my crate, but my favorite time is when they come home, and I can be out to run the yard and play with my family and friends. I eat 1.5 cups of food 2x a day and I always have water in my crate when my parents are gone. I am a really good boy with lots of energy and love to share. Please consider giving me my furever home!
