Story
This handsome, high-energy boy is always ready for fun! Buddy loves to run, play, and burn off his enthusiasm with anyone who’s willing to join in. Buddy is a smart cookie who already knows sit, paw, and lay down. He’s also a big fan of chew toys, so we recommend having plenty of durable toys and enrichment activities on hand to keep him happily occupied. He’s been doing well in playgroups here at the shelter, though he can be a bit selective with his dog friend and seems to do better with dogs outside of the home. Because of this, we encourage you to bring any resident dogs—and children—along for a meet-and-greet to ensure it’s the perfect match. If Buddy sounds like your kind of companion, give us a call or stop by the SPCA Cincinnati today to meet him!

Story
Meet Uma! This 5 year old, 50 pound mixed breed girl is as sweet as they come! Uma was found as a stray and delivered puppies in a shelter. The puppies were all adopted, but sweet Mama Uma remained in the shelter alone. Lucky for her, she was able to come to rescue and has been living her best life in her foster home! Uma is sweet as can be and loves her humans so much! She loves to be in the company of her people and loves to play with her doggy foster siblings as well. She has met cats in her foster home and is very interested in them! Uma is crate trained and potty trained, only having very few accidents in her foster home while she adjusted to her foster family's schedule. Since getting into her routine, she has not had another bathroom accident. Uma is learning manners and sometimes forgets the "four on the floor" run! While she means no harm, her excited good intentions may knock a younger child over, however, she promises to apologize with lots of kisses! Uma is fostered human foster brothers that are 11 and 6 years old - she loves them very much! This girl has done a great job raising her puppies and is now looking for happiness of her own! If she sounds like a fit for your family - apply today! Uma's adoption fee is $275. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Between Dec, 1st-15th, part of my adoption fee is sponsored! Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters campaign, my new family can take me home for $70! Meet Apollo! Apollo is a sweet, gentle 60-pound boy who came back to us through no fault of his own. His previous family truly cared about him, but his allergies flare up every August and they simply couldn’t keep up with the cost of proper treatment. Now that we’ve established an effective plan — a monthly allergy shot that has been working wonderfully — Apollo is finally comfortable and feeling like himself again. In his foster home, Apollo has been an easy, quiet guy. He loves his crate and even has a special dog bed inside that he likes to curl up on. Most days you can find him snuggled on the couch being a total cuddle bug and couch potato. Apollo is a “coexist” type of dog. He’s currently fostered with a 60-lb male pittie mix, a Jack Russell, and a doodle mix. He doesn’t really interact much — he just prefers everyone do their own thing — and he’s totally fine with that. He tends to prefer smaller female dogs, but he has no issues with the dogs in his foster home and does best with slow, thoughtful introductions as he warms up. With people, Apollo is shy at first but warms up into an incredibly sweet, affectionate companion. He is polite with kids and allows them to pet him, but he really prefers a calm, low-energy household. A home with young, high-energy children likely wouldn’t be the best fit for him. He’s just looking for a peaceful place to spend his days. Apollo is house trained, crate trained, knows basic commands, and even goes to his crate when asked. He walks pretty well on leash for being a larger dog and enjoys a nice stroll before settling in for couch time. He can stay out for short periods, but if you’re gone a full workday, he does best being crated. He’ll even choose to nap in his crate with the door open when you’re home. Apollo isn’t a high-energy dog. He’s happiest curled up next to you, relaxing, being loved, and enjoying a predictable routine. After everything he’s been through with untreated allergies and discomfort, he just wants a calm, understanding home that can continue his allergy shot plan and give him the safe, cozy life he deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet, quiet companion who just wants to be near his people, Apollo might be your guy. Apollo is fostered in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. His adoption fee is $275.00. Nope — our Dasher is a professional at the slow lane of life. Born 12/15/24 and weighing about 55–60 lbs of pure blond sweetness, he is the definition of calm, content, and wonderfully easygoing. This handsome boy is happiest lounging in a sunny spot, napping like it’s his full-time job, or quietly hanging out wherever you are. He’s playful and good with other dogs, but he’s just as thrilled to stretch out for a lazy afternoon snuggle. Basically, he’s the kind of dog who says: “Zoomies? I tried that once. Didn’t care for it.” Dasher would thrive in a home that includes him in all of life’s moments — from the thrilling grocery run to your pawsome weekend adventures. He may not dash, but he’s always ready to tag along. Coming from an unwanted litter that sat in rescue far too long, this sweet, gentle soul deserves a forever family who will finally give him the love, warmth, and belonging he’s been waiting almost a year for. And trust us — he’ll repay you with loyalty, comfort, and the kind of quiet companionship that fills your heart right up. ✨ Dasher’s Highlights: 🐾 11 months old (DOB 12/15/24), ~55–60 lbs 🐾 Calm, gentle, and wonderfully mellow 🐾 Great with other dogs 🐾 Playful when the mood strikes 🐾 Neutered, vaccinated, and ready for his sleigh ride home 🐾 Expert napper, sunbather, and emotional support couch ornament If your home needs peace, sweetness, and a furry best buddy who won’t judge your movie marathons… Dasher might just be the 'reindeer' you never knew you needed. 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org — and bring this chill boy home for a lifetime of cozy happiness. ❤️🐾
