He is very healthy, very playful. Wants to go on walks 4-5 times a day. Would love a family with yard as he loves to be outside. Loves people, kids. Scared of big dogs and cats. He would be great for someone who is home a lot. I am having to travel a lot and I have to go in to office now which leaves him alone a lot. I feel v bad for him. Also, I had to move to an apartment, which is small. He gets along really well with some dogs , but some he doesnt. So, its iffy. But, he is very loving..FYI, he is 12 yrs old. I will give all supplies, bed, sweaters, harness, leash, food, bowls, treats, blankets, etc

Comet is an approximately six-year-old Maltese. A friendly dog, he is a mixture of spunky, loving, and sassy with a medium energy level. Comet gets along with all dogs, male, female, large, medium and small. He would love to have a buddy or two in his home to play with and show him the way. Weighing in at nine pounds, he is currently being fostered with two big dogs and gets along with both. Comet has mastered potty training with no accidents in the last month. He loves going for walks and is excellent on leash. He enjoys going on adventures to new places and taking car rides, too. Comet likes hanging out with his people and is a good boy with visitors coming to the house. Comet does not annoyingly bark, but he does have a little little growl he sometimes uses to tell you he wants to be pet and sometimes to tell you he doesn't want to be bothered. It should not be mistaken as something bad, rather just him being sassy. At night he sleeps quietly in his dog bed. (Sometimes he wants to come up on his foster mom's bed to sleep and she does allow it.) Unfortunately, the people who had Comet before he entered the shelter did not take very good care of him and he had severe periodontal disease. The rescue had to remove all of his teeth as a result. He eats wet food and can eat small, soft treats. Comet loves to sunbathe on warm days and romp around in the yard with his doggie friends. Toys are not a huge interest, but he will occasionally play with them. It's very cute when he gets the zoomies and runs through the house with excitement. Comet is a great little dog who really wants to please and be part of a family. Could that family be yours?

Davey Pimento is a 2 year old adorable, small, charming Maltese-Poodle mix. He is a happy lad despite not being treated well by his former owner. Davey is doing well being a happy dog in foster with another dog, is an absolute lap companion and enjoys his walks, naps, and interaction with others. He has not been tested with cats and would do best in a house with no children. His ideal home is with a single or a couple and other friendly nicely tempered dogs, with proper introduction. Given his earlier life being a bit harsh on this little one, he would love nothing more than a loving, nurturing, and structured home with basic routine and attention. How does a 12 year old adorable tiny pocket pup end up at a shelter in Central California? Popsicle did, and holds no grudges. At a mere 6 lbs, he is getting his needed senior care in a loving foster home, and is ready for a warm, loving place to call his permanent home for the second journey in life. He might be a tad hearing and sight impaired, but still has lots of love to give, and would love nothing more than his own people's arms and laps to cuddle, and a little pouch to go everywhere with them. Popsicle easily learns his new environment, exploring with his impeccable nose and quickly understands where everything is. His best fit home is one that has no stairs - one level living - with a secure, flat, fenced-in yard where he can wander and do his potty, with people who are home most of the time (work from home) - as he would need his potty breaks about every 2.5 hours. Popsicle deserves a wonderful home, will give his people so much love and cuddles, and is ready to be adopted forever. Meet Hugo Hugo is an absolute miracle with a heart just as big as his story. This 6-year-old, 14.5-pound Maltese Terrier mix was found abandoned outside a liquor store in the pouring rain and rescued by the amazing team at Hope for Paws. When Hugo first came into care, he was completely blind due to severe cataracts. We immediately took over his care and rushed him to a veterinary ophthalmologist, knowing there was a chance surgery could restore his vision. Sadly, one eye could not be saved due to a fully detached retina—but hope remained for the other. Hugo bravely underwent surgery, and although complications initially made the outcome uncertain, this sweet boy persevered. After three weeks of intensive eye drops and injections, Hugo was able to see again. This was an absolute miracle. Today, Hugo is a loving, happy boy who truly enjoys life. He loves car rides, going on walks, playing with toys, and spending time with his doggie friends. He does best with slow introductions to new dogs, but once he’s comfortable, he’s friendly and playful. Hugo absolutely adores people and wants to be wherever his humans are—he’s a loyal little shadow who thrives on companionship. Hugo will need daily eye drops for the rest of his life and periodic ophthalmology rechecks to monitor his eyes. The good news? He’s a very good boy about getting his drops and handles his care like a champ. Hugo is looking for a calm, loving home that will continue his care and cherish the incredible soul he is.
