Story
Meet Piper! Piper is a 4 year old Maltese mix weighing 15 pounds, and she is pure sweetness wrapped up in a fluffy package. This easy going girl absolutely adores attention and lives for a good snuggle. She’s happiest simply being by your side, whether that’s relaxing on the couch or following you from room to room. Piper gets along wonderfully with everyone she meets, dogs, cats, and of course, her favorite people. She has a calm, gentle nature and adjusts beautifully to her surroundings. Piper is both deaf and blind, but don’t let that fool you, nothing slows this girl down! She confidently navigates her world using her amazing sense of smell and touch. She even wears a halo to help her move around safely, and she’s completely comfortable with it. Piper doesn’t see herself as different, and neither should you, she’s just as joyful and loving as they come. Because of her special needs, Piper will require a compassionate and patient adopter who understands that she relies on consistency, touch, and reassurance. In return, she will give you unwavering loyalty and endless love. She would thrive in a variety of homes and is simply looking for a family to call her own. Come meet this sweet girl today, you just might find your perfect little shadow.

Story
James Bone 007 is on a mission, not to save the world, but to find his forever home! This dashing 9-year-old, 13 lb Maltese-Pom mix was found wandering the streets of Compton after an ICE raid, likely separated from his owner. With no microchip and no way to trace his family, James spent a month in foster care while neighbors searched for his owner. Then, he was brought to us at Shelter Hope in the hopes of finding him a wonderful new home. Since moving in with his foster family, James has proven himself to be a true gentleman. His foster says he seems house-trained (not a single accident!) and will politely sniff at the door when he needs to go out. He walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys leisurely strolls in the park, and, like any alert little secret agent, keeps an eye on the world around him, sometimes barking at other dogs or out the window. James is a wonderful companion with excellent manners. He adores children, warms up easily to adults, and loves being near his humans, though he’s also independent enough to settle quietly on his own. He enjoys snuggles and pets but isn’t overly clingy, and he’ll happily follow you from room to room, waiting patiently by your side. Though his foster noticed that his hearing may not be the best, James doesn’t let it slow him down one bit. He’s thriving, happy, and ready to share his sweet, steady presence with a family who will love him. James Bone 007 is ready for his greatest adventure yet, finding a forever family to call his own! ------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Be Ready: If your application is selected, our rescue counselor will be in touch for a phone interview. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. Please Keep in Mind: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!

Story
Sweet Toto came to us in terrible condition as an owner surrender. He was infested with fleas and suffering from severe allergies. He is currently in an amazing foster home and doing great! We are looking for a loving home for this cutie, where he will get all the attention! (He is very loyal and affectionate.) Toto would love owners who are not gone for long hours during the day, and maybe a yard to romp around in. He's such a loving, well-behaved boy who can be your one and only, or he could be in a home with another good-natured, calm dog. Toto is pure perfection and deserves a home that will cherish him as much as we do! Toto is a male, 8 year old, 12lb, Maltese/Westie mix. Toto is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in So Calif as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial are required.

Story
This little ball of fluff is Romeo and he is one of the most fun and playful dogs we have ever met! Romeo has a very sad story. He was found on the streets of Bakersfield all alone and most likely abandoned. He was completely matted, filthy, flea infested, and limping on a back leg. An independent rescuer we work with was able to get him to safety and reached out to us to see if we could take him in to our foundation and we said yes! Romeo was transported to us in Santa Monica and we took him straight to our orthopedic specialist who took xrays and told us that he needed surgery immediately that day. His leg had a very bad break and they started the surgery right away. This little guy was such a trooper and healed easily and quickly! He is now available for adoption. We are looking for a home for him with another playful dog and owners that are not gone long hours during the day. A home with a safe and secure yard would be ideal as he loves running around with his friends! Romeo is an approx 3 year old, 12lb, male, Maltipoo mix who is such a little love despite all that he has been through. If you are looking for a fun, playful, and good natured dog...then Romeo is the pup for you! Romeo is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Please contac tus at gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020 We only adopt in So California as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required

Story
Meet Bella! Bella is a 4-year-old Maltese mix with the heart of a gentle old soul and the sweetest disposition you could ask for. Weighing just 15 pounds, she’s the perfect size for cozy couch cuddles, or quietly following you as your loyal little shadow. With her gorgeous long blonde coat and soulful golden eyes, Bella is truly a showstopper. Her coat is hypoallergenic, and we believe she may be a Maltese or Lhasa Apso mix. Calm, sweet, and affectionate, Bella is a sensitive girl who bonds deeply with her people. Bella can be shy and a bit skittish with new people, especially at first. She will need a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to give her the time and space she needs to decompress, build trust, and gain confidence at her own pace. Because of this, Bella would do best in a quiet household with minimal comings and goings of strangers. She is fully house-trained and well-mannered in the home. Bella enjoys leisurely backyard exploration followed by snuggling up for peaceful cuddle time. She does well with other dogs, cats, and older children, making her a lovely companion in a calm, respectful environment. Bella does have separation anxiety and struggles when left alone, including in a crate. She is comfortable resting in her crate when her people are home, but she will need an adopter who is home most of the time and willing to patiently help her work through her anxiety with consistency and reassurance. Health-wise, Bella is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. She was rescued from the Palmdale shelter along with her baby, Fiona, and proved to be an incredible mama. Now that her puppy is grown, it’s Bella’s turn to be cherished. If you’re searching for a gentle, devoted companion and have a calm home where Bella can truly feel safe and secure, she’s ready to meet you and begin her happily-ever-after.
