Story
Solo is an 8 year old neutered male Maltese and Terrier Mix with a soft white coat and a heart that still believes in love. He was adopted years ago and deeply cherished. After his owner passed away, Solo stayed with a family member for a time, but due to personal changes, he has returned to us. Through it all, he has remained gentle, loyal, and incredibly affectionate. Solo is house-trained, polite on leash, and happiest curled up beside his person. He enjoys calm walks, cozy evenings, and being your quiet little shadow. He’s not just looking for a home — he’s looking for his person again. And he will love you with his whole heart. We hold an event every weekend at our facility on SATURDAY and SUNDAY 11-5pm and open to the public. It is first come first serve we do not evaluate applications prior to an event. If there are multiple interested parties in the same dog or puppy at the same time we would pick the best out of the 10 applications. Please visit our social media platforms for the specifics for each weekend as it changes from week to week. Please find our application at lovejoyfoundation.org when you come to an event please bring that filled out in hand with you. You can find our application at Lovejoyfoundation.org. Please note a Petfinder and Adoptapet Inquiry is not applying for the dog. You have to come to the event or send an email inquiry to our records email.

Story
Meet Livvy Breed: Maltese Sex: Female DOB: 11/18/2025 Weight: 6 Pounds Health: Healthy and thriving Livvy is a tiny little snowball of sweetness with soft eyes and a gentle spirit. At just three months old, she is still very much a baby — learning the world, discovering her confidence, and forming the bonds that will shape her entire life. She has that delicate Maltese charm — affectionate, people-focused, and happiest when she feels safe and close to her humans. Personality Livvy is cuddly, curious, and wonderfully affectionate. She loves exploring her surroundings, following you around on her tiny paws, and then climbing into your lap when she’s ready for reassurance. She thrives on connection and will likely form a deep, devoted attachment to her person. With patience and guidance, she will grow into a loyal, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side. Breed Info Maltese are known for their gentle, devoted personalities. They are companion dogs through and through — they do not enjoy being left alone for long periods and thrive in homes where they are included in daily life. They require regular grooming to keep their coats healthy and mat-free, and they respond beautifully to kind, consistent training. Maltese bond deeply and often choose “their person” for life. Owner Responsibilities Livvy is a baby. That means frequent potty breaks, supervision, gentle socialization, and consistent positive reinforcement training. Puppies chew, explore, and make mistakes — they require time every single day. She will also require routine grooming throughout her life. Raising Livvy means actively shaping her into a confident, well-adjusted adult dog. &#226&#154&#160&#239&#184&#143 Things to Consider Before adopting Livvy, ask yourself: Are you home enough for a young puppy? Is your housing stable and pet-approved long-term? Are you financially prepared for grooming, vet care, and emergencies? Are you ready for a 12–15 year commitment — even if you move, change jobs, or life circumstances shift? Adoption is not temporary. It is for life. Vet Care Even though Livvy is healthy, it is essential to establish care with your own veterinarian immediately after adoption. This ensures her vaccination schedule continues properly, growth is monitored, and any concerns are addressed early. A relationship with your own vet sets the foundation for lifelong health. Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule The first 3 days Livvy may feel overwhelmed or unsure — everything is new. The first 3 weeks she will begin learning your routine and feeling safe. By 3 months, her trust will bloom, and her true personality will shine. Patience during this transition is critical for building lifelong confidence. Why Livvy? Livvy is not just a tiny puppy — she is a little life waiting to give her whole heart to someone. If you are ready to nurture, guide, and commit fully, she will reward you with unwavering devotion and years of soft, loyal companionship.   If you are interested in adopting this amazing dog, please follow the link https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions and fill out an application  Thank you for choosing Ozzie and Friends Rescue. Story
Echo Age: 2 years Sex: Neutered male Breed: Maltese/Terrier mix Color: White Weight: 9.1 kg (20 lbs) Height: 38 cm (15 in)   Echo is deaf (he cannot hear). He relies on visual cues and human guidance, and stays very attentive to his person.   Rescue Story: Echo was rescued from an animal hoarding situation where over 230 dogs were being kept.   Human Socialization   Echo is a very affectionate and friendly boy. He approaches both familiar people and strangers, rubs against them, and enjoys being petted. He likes both men and women and does well with children under 13 (he simply shows little interest). He is comfortable being picked up, and once he bonds with you, he loves showing his belly for rubs   Dog Socialization   Echo is friendly with both familiar and unfamiliar dogs and happily goes up to greet them. He doesn’t quite know how to “play properly” yet and mostly just runs around excitedly. He is not afraid of larger dogs, though he usually prefers dogs of similar size. If another dog provokes him, he tends to avoid conflict and gets along well without issues. After playtime, he usually likes to rest in his own quiet space.   Cats   His reaction to cats has not been observed yet, but a cat test can be arranged.   Energy Level   Low energy. Echo is a calm dog who enjoys relaxing and resting most of the time   Walks   Echo only recently started going on walks, so he is still learning to explore and sniff around. However, he walks nicely without pulling and follows his human well. Since he is deaf, he relies heavily on visual cues and tends to stay close and attentive to his handler.   Other Behaviors   Echo does not resource guard food with either people or dogs and is not particularly food-motivated.   Because he was born and raised among many dogs, he has some baseline separation anxiety. When first placed in a new environment—especially since he is deaf—he may feel anxious if he cannot see his person. In the past, he showed behaviors like scratching walls, the floor, or tearing pee pads.   However, once he adjusts, he becomes very relaxed, sleeps well, and can stay alone comfortably. He rarely barks and is currently doing both indoor pee pad training and outdoor potty.   Foster History   • First foster home: About 2 weeks. No howling when left alone, but scratched at closed doors. • Second foster home: About 1.5 months. Did well staying alone. • Current: Staying at the AKR Center.   Echo is a gentle, quiet, and loving soul. He may need a little patience during the initial adjustment period, but once he feels safe, he becomes an incredibly easy and calm companion who just wants to stay close to his person. Story
Cotton Age: 3 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Maltese Terrier mix Color: White / Beige Weight: 8 kg (17.6 lbs) Height: 36 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Cotton was rescued from an extreme animal hoarding situation where over 230 dogs were being kept in poor conditions. Despite her past, Cotton is a gentle and affectionate little girl who still loves people and seeks comfort from humans. Special Note: Congenital Deafness (born deaf)     ‍ Human Social Skills Cotton is very friendly and affectionate. She approaches both familiar people and strangers, enjoys rubbing against them, and allows easy handling. She can be comfortably picked up and will even show her belly once she bonds with you.   She is good with children under 13, but because she is deaf, she may get startled by sudden movements or unexpected touches.   Dog Social Skills Cotton will greet unfamiliar dogs but doesn’t really play with them. She generally prefers dogs similar to her size and feels overwhelmed by high-energy dogs.   Although she’s not very interested in other dogs, she has lived with many dogs before and may feel anxious if she is the only dog in the home.   Cats Cotton has passed her cat test and is currently being fostered in a home with cats. She usually ignores them, but sometimes at night, if she suddenly sees a cat’s shadow, she may get scared and bark.   Energy Level Low energy. Cotton loves to rest and sleep most of the day. Because she is deaf, once she falls asleep, she tends to sleep very deeply and for long periods.   Walks Cotton doesn’t have much walking experience yet, so she’s still learning. She generally follows her handler well, but if she feels scared, she may pull on the leash to move away from what’s frightening.   Other Behaviors & Notes • No resource guarding with people or dogs. • Very quiet at the center, but after moving to foster, she showed separation anxiety and howled for about 3 days. • After training, she can now stay alone (with another dog present) for over 3 hours calmly. • She sleeps in the same space as people but not right next to them. • Still struggling with crate training — she becomes anxious and barks when she can’t see people. • No car sickness, but she is scared of getting into the car and needs to be carried in. • Currently uses both pee pads indoors and outdoor potty.   Ideal Home Cotton would do best in a calm, patient home that understands deaf dogs and can communicate using visual cues and consistency. A home with another gentle dog may help her feel more secure.   She is a sweet, quiet soul who just needs time, stability, and love to truly blossom Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram! Story
Pickles is an 8-year-old Maltese mix with the sweetest little soul. After being abandoned by his family, he could have given up on people — but he didn’t. And we promised him we would never let him down again. We promised to find him a forever family who will love him the way he deserves. Pickles is easygoing, gentle, and wonderfully well-mannered. He would do great in a home with kids and would love nothing more than to be someone’s little shadow. Everyone at the vet’s office completely fell in love with his charming personality — he has that quiet, special magic that makes you melt the moment you meet him. Pickles has so much love left to give. He’s ready for soft beds, warm laps, and a family that will cherish him forever. This is a courtesy post.
