In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading the information you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Zoey is a seven-month-old Shih Tzu/Maltese mix with the perfect blend of playful puppy energy and sweet cuddle-bug charm. This adorable little girl is currently thriving in her foster home, where she spends her days playing fetch with neighborhood children, exploring the backyard, and curling up on the couch for snuggles at the end of the day. Zoey absolutely lights up when she hears kids nearby and happily runs along the fence to greet her neighborhood friends. She would love a forever home with a fenced yard where she can safely play, explore, and burn off some of her puppy energy. Like any young puppy, Zoey is still learning the ropes. She is smart, eager to please, and enjoys learning new things, but she will need a family committed to continuing her training and socialization. Puppy classes will help her build confidence and develop into a well-mannered adult dog. She already loves playing fetch — she’s just still working on the “bring it back” part! Zoey is also working on potty training and will need consistency, patience, and a regular routine to succeed. She currently goes outside every 3–4 hours and does best with a structured feeding and potty schedule. Daily walks help keep her happy and engaged. At night, Zoey sleeps peacefully in a crate beside her foster family’s bed, though she would happily trade that for a cozy spot snuggled up with her forever family. Zoey is looking for a loving home that understands puppy hood requires time, patience, and commitment — but the reward is a lifetime of love, laughter, and companionship. If you’re searching for a playful, affectionate companion to grow with your family, Zoey may be the perfect match for you! Apply today to meet this sweet little girl! The following are requirements for Zoey’s adoption: 1. Since Zoey is still a puppy and small dogs can live 16+ years, applications will only be accepted from age-appropriate individuals who will be able to provide the activity, care and comfort that Zoey will need for her entire life. 2. Someone who is home much of the day, since Zoey needs continued house training. She also thrives on the companionship of her humans. 3. A family who will actively participate in puppy training classes with Zoey and will provide the physical activity and stimulation that a puppy requires. Having a secure, fenced yard would be ideal. 4. Applications from a family with children over the age of ten who have demonstrated an understanding of and have experience in gently interacting with a small dog will be considered since Zoey seems to really enjoy her interactions with children. 5. Live within 30 minutes of Fridley, MN. 6. Agree to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September of each year. Zoey is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She is scheduled to be spayed June 23, 2026 and will be ready for her forever home after a short recovery period. We are currently accepting applications for her adoption and she can go to her new home once she has recovered from her spay surgery. Zoey’s adoption fee is $520.00 plus $46.93 in sales tax, for a total of $566.93. To meet Zoey, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of every month at the Chuck & Don’s, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., in Bloomington.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Latisha is an absolutely adorable Maltipoo with the sweetest eyes and an even sweeter heart. At first glance, she may seem shy and unsure. Being such a tiny girl in such a big world can feel a little overwhelming, and she takes her time deciding who and what is safe. With patience, understanding, and a little help from a confident canine friend, her true personality begins to shine.   Because the world feels a little less scary with a friend by her side, Latisha is looking for a calm and patient home with another small, confident dog. She takes comfort from her canine companions and blossoms much more quickly when she has a friend to show her the ropes. Due to her small size, she prefers dogs closer to her own size. Once she feels comfortable, she blossoms into a playful, silly companion who will absolutely steal your heart. She loves to pounce on her toys, chew on her favorites, enjoy tasty treats, and show off her surprisingly speedy little legs. Don't let her size fool you—this tiny pup can run fast!   She tends to freeze and is much more comfortable exploring off-leash than walking on one so a securely fenced yard is required for her to safely explore and enjoy her zoomies. Speaking of zoomies, hers come in the cutest "mini" version: a quick burst of happy energy followed by a well-earned break on the couch, where she'll happily decompress and relax.   When playtime is over, her favorite place to be is snuggled right under your chin, soaking up affection and handing out gentle kisses. She's incredibly loving once you've earned her trust and will form a deep bond with the people she feels safe around. This sweet girl would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can build trust at her own pace. In return, you'll get an incredibly devoted companion who will shower you with affection and remind you every day just how special she is.   Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Age: 6 years old Weight: 18 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, requires companion dog in the home. Does best with smaller dogs. Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes. Older/considerate kids will be best Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Does well free roam of the home REQUIREMENT: Fence yard + companion dog Adoption fee: $495 Hi, I’m Milo! I’m a 6-year-old, 18-pound professional fetch enthusiast looking for my forever family. If you’ve got a ball, we’re already best friends. Seriously… I could play fetch for hours, so a Chuckit launcher might just become your new favorite purchase. 😆 When I’m not chasing tennis balls, you’ll find me riding shotgun on car adventures, exploring the yard, or keeping an eye on the neighborhood happenings. I like to stay involved in everything you’re doing and am always ready for the next activity. A few things about me: • Potty trained • Free-roam trustworthy in the home • Dog friendly (I do require another small, confident dog in the home) • Cat friendly • Good with older, respectful kids • Vocal at times, so a home without shared walls is best My ideal home has a fenced yard where I can stretch my legs, play fetch, and burn off some energy. I thrive with active humans who enjoy getting outside and having fun. If you’re looking for a happy-go-lucky sidekick who will keep you laughing and make every day a little more exciting, I just might be your guy.

Story
Meet little Oliver, the pint‑sized superstar! This adorable 7‑year‑old Maltese mix may weigh only 9 pounds, but his heart, personality, and spunk are absolutely giant. Don’t let his age fool you - Oliver is still full of pep and delightfully youthful energy. Oliver’s favorite hobby? Cozy naps in his comfy bed - he’s a professional snoozer. But don’t worry, he pops right up when it’s time for important activities like lunch or heading outside. He’s mostly potty trained as long as he gets regular outdoor breaks. Once he’s out there, he loves to trot around the yard like a tiny explorer, taking in all the sights and scents. Even though Oliver occasionally voices his opinions (mostly when another dog passes by or he’s excited to see you), he’s not much of a barker. He’s also a proud member of the “gummy bear club" - all his teeth were removed due to previous dental issues, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. He happily enjoys his wet food and life is good! At night, Oliver sleeps like a little angel in bed with his foster parents - he tried the kennel once and politely said, “No thank you.” Speaking of kennels, he does stay in one when his family is away since he can get a bit nervous and have accidents. He may bark some while in his kennel. Oliver is wonderfully gentle with other dogs and children, loves snuggles, and uses little stairs to get onto the couch because short kings need support too! He’s a bit nervous in the car but does well overall and walks nicely on a leash - he just prefers to save his potty business for home turf. If your life could use a sprinkle of joy, a dash of sweetness, and a whole lot of love, Oliver is your guy! Let this tiny teddy bear steal your heart.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $475.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 8, 2026, 4:42 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Gary is an 18‑pound gentleman of distinguished age who has fully committed to the art of relaxation. He is, without question, the King of Sleeping. If napping were an Olympic sport, Gary would bring home the gold, the silver, and probably a commemorative snack. When he’s awake, he transforms into a slow‑moving shadow who follows his human around with the dedication of a very mellow bodyguard. He loves short strolls outside where he can sniff the neighborhood news, feel the breeze, and pretend he’s still a spry young lad. Then he returns inside to resume his royal duties: couch snuggling, belly‑rub requesting, and gentle snoring. Gary has a few special senior quirks—he’s partially blind, partially deaf, a little wobbly, and needs eye drops and daily pain meds. Stairs are not his thing, but being carried like the tiny prince he is suits him just fine. He’s working on potty training and does well on a schedule, especially since he sleeps through the night like a champion. He’s friendly with everyone, polite with dogs, and happiest in a calm home where he can nap in peace and enjoy his favorite hobby: eating treats. All treats. Any treats. Every treat. Gary is a gentle, affectionate, easygoing old soul who just wants a soft place to land, a cozy lap to snooze on, and someone who appreciates the simple joys in life—like snacks, sunshine, and long, luxurious naps. Meet Violet! This adorable, young Shih Tzu/Bichon mix is a social girl who loves to play, play, play. She was born March 9th, so is still a very young puppy. She weighs about 6 pounds. She is elated to hang out with her humans and always loves to cuddle. Due to her effervescent personality and love of other dogs, she would do best in a home with another playful small dog. She is fearless around her two Shih Tzu foster sisters who are 11 and 12 pounds. She is incredibly sweet, smart and curious. She follows her humans closely and is always ready for a petting or rub. Violet is still learning to go potty outside, and her new family must be willing to help her become fully house trained. She has never been left alone, and her adopters must help her ease her into times when they will be gone. She loves to have her people often around. She does not like a kennel, and we do not recommend that a kennel be used for housetraining purposes or for when she is left alone. She always enjoys snuggling on the couch or being next to her human in bed. Because Violet is still a young puppy, she will need a family who is committed to basic puppy training, potty training reinforcement, and gentle guidance as she grows. With patience and continued socialization, Violet is sure to flourish and be the best of companions! She loves her food and is very food motivated. We haven’t found a treat she doesn’t like, which helps as a reward with her training. Violet is talkative! She barks when playing, when she sees animals outside, or if someone is at the door. Because she is a bit vocal, it would be best if her adopter lives in a single family home rather than an apartment or townhouse with shared walls. She will definitely bark, and this would not be acceptable in such a home. Violet's musts - exercise and mental stimulation! These are needed for her to feel happy, safe and comfortable. As an active and energetic pup, this girl needs a long, brisk daily walk, especially if she doesn’t have a playmate. She also loves tug-of-war and fetch and lots of interactive playtime. While a fence isn't required, she would love the freedom to roam and run in a secure yard while under the supervision of her new parents. If you're looking for a canine family member that will be sure to make you smile look no further. Violet will melt your heart with love and affection. Her ears perk up adorably when she hears something interesting – especially you! - and has an endless supply of kisses. The following are requirements for Violet’s future family: · Because small breed dogs can live 16+ years, applications will be accepted only from age-appropriate individuals who will be able to provide activity, care and support for Violet for her entire life. · Violet hasn't been exposed much to kids so we are unsure how she would do. Applications will be considered if there are children in the home over the age of ten and if they have had previous experience in gently interacting with small dogs. · A family who is patient, home most of the day and will continue Violet’s house training and leash training, and will expose her to new dog appropriate experiences. · Provide Violet with plenty of daily exercise and stimulation, including walks and supervised time in the yard. A secure, fenced yard would be ideal. · Violet would be fine being an only dog but she would thrive living with another small dog in the home who has similar energy. Because Violet can be a bit vocal, it would be best if she not live in an apartment or townhouse with shared walls so that she doesn’t disturb other occupants. · Live within 30 minutes of Minneapolis. · Agree to attend the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September. Violet is current on puppy vaccinations and is microchipped. However, she is too young to be spayed at this time. The adopter must sign an agreement to have her spayed within six months of adopting and must pay an additional spay deposit fee of $150.00, which will be refunded upon proof of her being spayed. Violet’s adoption fee is $520.00 plus sales tax of $46.93, and the refundable spay deposit of $150.00 for a total fee of $716.93. If you think Violet might be a great fit for your family, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at Chuck & Don’s, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., in Bloomington.
