You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Do you want to meet me? Orvis, will be hosting Underdogs on their pawtio at (5001 Excelsior Blvd, St Louis Park, MN 55416), for an adoption event Saturday June 10th from 12:00-2:00 pm. I will be there! Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.   DOB:  06/06/2014 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes Weight: 11 Requires a fenced yard:  No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi, my name is Heidi and I am a calm and happy maltese. I’m good with kids and other dog friendly dogs. My favorite thing to do is follow the other dogs in the house and my people around – I don’t want to miss anything! It makes me so happy to have a little friend that is just my size in my foster home that I do require another dog in my forever home. Having a confident and social dog will help me learn to trust people and get on a routine. I am happiest when I can sit back and watch what is going on in the world. I like to site with my people and watch TV so hopefully you have a cozy spot on the couch next to you that is Heidi size! My favorite times of the day are breakfast time and dinner time – I am quick to get in line for my turn! I also like snack time – yummy in my tummy! We are working on the important dog skills in my foster home. I am very close to being potty trained when I’m on a consistent schedule and when I need to go I spin around to let you know. Also, I know what “go potty” means.  Pretty smart, right?  I am still learning what coming to my name means. And I am a very calm and quiet girl except when I am in my crate – I will tell you that I’m not happy (bark bark!!). I much prefer to be with my people and don’t know why they wouldn’t want to spend all their time with precious little me! My leash skills are coming along well and I won’t need to have a fenced yard if you promise to keep practicing with me. I’m just a super sweet and easy girl who is patiently waiting for her forever family to come and take me home. All I need now is a forever family with lots of patience, love and a comfy spot to snooze. Can’t wait to meet you! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Meet Casper! Casper is an older gentleman who is looking for someone to enjoy slow days with. His favorite pastime is napping - he loves it so much and is such a deep sleeper, that he needs to be awakened gently so he doesn’t get startled. This sweet little guy is very patient and sometimes needs some extra attention. Foster mom says this attention can come from his person and does not need to come from a doggy roommate, though he gets along just fine with dogs his size.  Casper is eager to please and loves to be picked up and carried. He doesn’t see or hear well and is unsteady on his feet, but accepts all assistance. He will take all the gentle hugs you have available. Casper cannot jump up on furniture, and he would love for you to help him up onto the couch so he can take his favorite spot next to you. Better yet, snuggles on your lap!  This sweet boy has refined taste - he is quite selective about treats, and toys aren’t really his thing. He would rather not be in his kennel (and will tell you so himself!), but he walks nicely on a leash to go potty outside and get a little exercise. Casper will not tell you if he needs to go potty but does go when he’s taken outside, so a regular schedule will be important for him. Because he walks well on a leash, his forever home does not need to have a fenced yard. Do you think you could be Casper's person to give him all the love he deserves? A quiet home with a person or people who are home most of the time would be ideal for Casper. Fill out an application today to adopt this sweetheart!    Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Finn. I am a very handsome adult male Yorkie who loves getting pets & attention; playing fetch with my crinkle/squeaky toys; saying hello to strangers outside; going on leashed walks; and spending time with my people. In fact, I love spending time with my people so much that I crawl under the blankets to snuggle when foster mom is watching a movie and I keep her company when she’s working…I’m the best co-worker EVER! Hee, hee!! I also love to explore all the sights, sounds, and smells this amazing world has to offer and I may run off to check things out so hopefully my new yard will be fenced! I have not met any cats and I may need extra time to adjust to kids, but I am good with other dogs and my tail wags in excitement at the thought of playing with them. However, if I’m restrained in any way (i.e., leash, being held etc.) my eagerness to play may come off as aggressive. That said, I live with two other Yorkies, and have never been anything but sweet to them and I would enjoy having a companion at my new home. I am a smart boy who not only knows what “sit” and “down” mean but I’m potty, leash, and crate trained, and I can even open baby gates and doors that are not fully latched or closed! Hee, hee!! In short, I am a sweet guy who is simply looking for patience and unconditional love with a fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on me. If you’re ready to welcome some joy and happiness into your life, I’m ready to come home with you. I promise I am worth it, and I will light up your world!
