I am a beautiful and friendly adult female Maltese who weighs in at a whoppin’ 5 pounds. Now, foster mom says I’m “5# of naughty” but she’s a real jokester because I am actually a very sweet girl who simply loves to be petted & cuddled, eat all kinds of treats, say “hello” to the neighbor’s dogs, and chase squirrels! Hee, hee!! I ask you…where’s the naughty in that!?! LOL I have not met any kids but I’m good with cats and other small dogs like me. In fact, I will need a small doggie companion at my new home and a fenced yard that we can safely explore. I do not have much leash experience and I’m not crazy about the kennel/crate because, well let’s face it…who wants to be confined am I right!?! I’m a smart girl though who not only does my personal business outside and on potty pads, but I know what “outside” means so you can clearly see I’m a bit of a prodigy! Hee, hee!! Anyway, I really am a super sweet little girl who deserves a life full of pets & cuddles from a patient fur-ever family who will love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me! Hi! My name is Pearl and I am from a shelter in Kentucky. I used to live in a home with a human and one other dog-a boy dog who was just a few pounds bigger than me. Then, sadly, our human passed away and we ended up in an animal control. Pearl is a loving and playful girl who enjoys playing with toys especially with her human. She is house trained, as long as we stick to a schedule. She likes toys, especially anything you can wriggle to look like a mouse or chipmunk. She loves attention and cuddling on the couch. She gives lots of "kisses. She loves going for walks and seems comfortable on a leash. When we bring her for walks around a nearby lake we often encounter other dogs. Pearl is generally calm around other dogs-big and small-but will growl or bark back if another dog growls at her. She also may get nervous and/or bark if there is a bottle-neck and there are a large number of people and/or dogs converging on a path that has no walking space to the side of the path (of course, there are training alternatives to this situation and I can give you materials with options on how to respond to this scenario). She seems fine with kids ages 7 and up (although she doesn't currently live with any). Kids younger than that seem to make her uncomfortable if they approach her and come within arm's reach. Pearl does seem to have some separation anxiety which means that when she is left home alone she does sometimes bark and howl so would not do well in a home with shared walls. Pearl has beautiful, soft hair. If you are thinking of applying to adopt Pearl please know that she needs someone willing to spend a bit more time on her hair than what some other dogs need. Her hair requires daily brushing and combing to the skin to keep her coat from matting. Although we can't know her breed mix for certain, if you look up Maltipoo (a maltese - poodle mix), the traits and personality characteristics listed fit with what we have observed of her so far. Pearl loves her humans and likes getting attention. This tiny dog has a whole lot of love to give to someone willing to give her the time and attention she needs.

Well, I'm here to tell you that it's really true! Charlie is my name and I'm a sweet and easygoing Maltese mix male who is 13 years young. I say that because I still like to play and go for walks (I do very well on leash). I was originally adopted from Animal Ark but my owner passed away. I'm very sad but know that I have to find a new home and adjust to new surroundings. I am cautious with other dogs,and have no experience with cats or children. I was the only pet in my home and I'm house trained, too, and will bark when I have to go outside.
