Hi everyone! I’m Brodie. I’m a Maltese mix that came into rescue two years ago.    My cons: I am slow to warm up, however, once I get to trust you, I love to be on your lap and will sleep with you. I bark at new people, dogs and cats. I let people pet me if they come down to my level. I also have seizures and take daily medication for this. My medication is cheap (you can get a three month supply for $20 with the Good Rx app!)    My pros: I’m a small dog that is housebroken and just love to be around my people. I love to chew on my toys and if you throw a ball or toy, I will run after it. I walk pretty well on my leash with the occasional pull.    I was pulled from a shelter after my owner passed away. I am still learning that new people are okay. Like I said, it takes me a bit to warm up but once I do, I will follow you around forever. Miss Melody is a 6 year old Maltese.  I’ve been calling her Miss Melody since the first day Ipicked her up from the shelter. She is dainty, fragile, very shy and skittish.  When she first arrived home with me, she fled to my bathroom and hid in there for a few days.  Then she picked a corner of my dining room that is dark and out of the way of traffic and stayed there for weeks. Miss Melody would physically tremble when I got too close. It was heartbreaking. It has taken her more than a month to come out of the corner and she now spends time in and around her crate.  She loves to play with chew toys and she lets you know she’s excited to eat during feeding times.  She is really good around other dogs and cats. It’s the humans that make her nervous. She is so well behaved and tiny that she steals hearts wherever she goes.  I feed her in her crate as she has guarding tendencies.  She likes small, slower walks.  She is not used to being held; she is quite stiff and not a bit relaxed and cannot make eye contact with you while being held.  She requires a lot of tenderness, love, and patience.  She hasn’t been around kids so I’m not sure how she’ll do around them. She is very afraid of adults and will run and hide when you come near.  So far, any trips in the car stresses her out, and she’ll tremble. I think Miss Melody will do well in a quiet home with not a lot of expectations.  If you give her the space and patience that she needs, she will slowly gravitate towards you.  She can play with other dogs and seems happy and secure with them in that she’ll come out of her crate to play when the adults are asleep.  Miss Melody has a kind and loving heart who will, given the time and space to feel safe, show you her sweet, beautiful self and hopefully learn to trust humans again.  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Hey! My name is Stray Charles. I am incredibly sweet and affectionate, especially with the ladies. I like to show off my silky, soft hair and I don’t shed very much, so I know how much they will love me! I am more selective about men. Some are fine, while others might see my protective side.  Currently I have a few things I’m working on. I’m starting to figure out house training and I go stand at the door when I need to go potty. It takes me a while to warm up to new people so I need a family that is willing to be patient with me and I would probably do better in a quiet home without children or with older teens. I am an incredibly talented jumper so I need a home with a tall fence or to be on a tie out. This is also one of my strengths because I would do great on an outdoor adventute and obstacles won't slow me down (future agility champion?)! I’m very good in my kennel when my foster mom is out but at night I need to sleep in bed with you and I promise I will lie peacefully through the night next to you or at the end of the bed. Let me tell you a bit about myself! I absolutely love being outside and running around in a fenced yard. Toys of all kinds are my favorite, and you'll often find me playing with them happily. When I'm not playing, I enjoy relaxing and soaking up some sun. I can be a little shy, especially when there is overwhelming commotion or with quick motions, but once I feel comfortable, I open up and show my sweet and loving personality. I'm potty trained using both a potty pad and go outside, I will need a little more practice in my forever home to stay on a routine. I'm also crate trained and know the command for "kennel/crate" as well as a command for "outside." While I enjoy my crate, I do prefer being out and about with my humans. A fenced yard is essential for me because I'm not leash trained and can be fearful of new things, making me a flight risk. I don't need to be placed in a home with another dog, but I do love human company and would thrive in a home where my people are around most of the time. But for now, maybe a home without small kids would be better as commotion, loud noises and men seem to make me more tense. I don’t have too much desire to play right now as I’m still trying to get accustomed to life in a loving environment.  I’m low key but I ventured out a bit this week and actually played with a toy!  Hold your applause! I don’t really have a fur bestie so I can be an only pet if you’re home most of the day.  Why, you ask?? Well, I tend to have lots of conversation with people and like to voice my complaints to the peanut gallery often (bark bark).  I am crate trained but that darn potty thing is a bit trickier.  However, when you keep me on a good schedule, I feel I’m close to making it happen! I don’t require a fenced yard either, as I’m working on my leash skills.  Granted, it’s got more work to be had but we can do it!  I have put my noodles together and with lots of practice, I know “sit, come, kennel, outside and go potty!” I’m food motivated which is why my noodles are functional. At just 5 pounds, I may be small, but I've got a big personality packed into this tiny frame. At home, I'm all about having fun with my the other dogs in my foster home. We love to wrestle and play with toys together, tossing them in the air like there's no tomorrow. But don't let my playful antics fool you—I also love a good snuggle session. Although I may squirm a bit at first, once I'm in your arms, I'm as content as can be. I'm a bit timid at first, but it doesn't take long for me to come out of my shell and start running the show. Treat time is my favorite time, and I'll dance on my hind legs with excitement when those tasty snacks come out. I do have a few fears, like loud noises, but with the right love and care, I'm sure I'll overcome them in no time. And while I'm still working on my potty training, I'm making progress every day. When it comes to my living arrangements, I have a cozy little spot in the kitchen where I hang out with the other dogs in my foster home. We nap there and chill when our human is away, although we much prefer snuggling up in bed with them at night. I absolutely love being outside, whether it's going for walks or riding in the dog stroller. And as for other dogs, well, I get along with them just fine, regardless of their size. I'm a social pup who loves the company of others. Overall, I'm just a lovable little guy who's looking for a forever home where I can continue to play, snuggle, and steal hearts wherever I go. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. Crate trained: Yes I’m Tofu, 3 yrs old and weigh a slender 10 lbs. I am bichon/poodle mix, they say. I start out a little shy but I overcome my fears and blossom with a little love and patience. I’m good with other small dogs, only rarely joining a barking choir. I’m finishing my recovery from bladder stone surgery and doing great. I’d be responsible in a home with shared walls. As long as I have walks, I’d be a good boy. Note from my foster mom: Tofu is a a loving boy and needs a peaceful home. I don’t know if he’s good with kids but there are signs that could be possible. He’s special, just doesn’t know it yet. What a joy! You’d be lucky to have this guy in your family.
