Story
Meet Doongi, a 5-year-old neutered male Maltese with a snowy white coat, weighing in at a petite 2.5kg! He will arrive in Calgary, AB on April 5th!!! Doongi is a sweet little fluffball who was found wandering around a nursing home and brought to the City Shelter. We believe he was once cherished by an elderly person, and it certainly shows in his affectionate personality. Doongi is a true cuddle enthusiast—he’s not just friendly with people he knows, but also happily approaches strangers, snuggles into laps, and soaks up all the attention he can get. He adores both men and women equally and even welcomes children under 13 with the same gentle affection. Pick him up by slipping your arm under his belly—he’s completely comfortable being handled and loves being held close. When it comes to other dogs, Doongi prefers the company of pups his own size. He’s not too interested in playing with larger dogs and may walk away if they get too excited around him. He’ll allow them to sniff, but he’s more of a people-pup at heart and doesn’t seek out doggy friends—though recently, he’s started playing with a roommate, showing that he can enjoy canine company once he’s comfortable. Cats? Not really on his radar. He’s spotted a few on walks and couldn’t care less, but we’re happy to do more testing if needed. With a low energy level, Doongi is the ultimate chill companion. He’s calm, enjoys relaxing, and is happiest when lounging with his human. He’s a pro on walks—no leash pulling here! He follows along beautifully and doesn’t guard his food or belongings from people or other dogs. While he initially whined a bit for attention, he settled quickly and now waits quietly when left alone. Doongi may give a little bark when he wants something, but he’s generally quiet and well-mannered. He rides calmly in a crate and is house-trained to use both indoor pads and go potty outdoors. Doongi is truly a gem—loving, loyal, and ready for a cozy forever home! View more photos and videos on Facebook: Link to Post Does NAME sound like the right companion for you? Send in your application today here or through our website:adoptmekoreanrescue.org/adoption-application/ AKR dogs can arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport and may be able to arrive at some US airports (Seattle, LA, NY, Boston, etc) where we have flight volunteers. Fill out the form, save it to your hard drive, then email back to sian@gingerspetrescue.org Hi!!  My name is Casper from Korea and I am a wonderful approx. 6 year old male Maltese.  I am about 5 lbs. and hoping to find a forever home.  I am friendly and was saved from an illegal Breeding Farm in South Korea.  I was rescued with many others by local activists from the horrific conditions we were in.  I fought to survive every day and was so badly neglected.  Korea kills an estimated 1.5 -2 million dogs a year to be eaten.  I just want a chance to be part of a family and for someone to love and care for me.  I am so lucky to get a one-way ticket to Seattle to find my new family.  Take me on car rides, walks in the park and I will become your best friend.  I get along well with people of all ages, gentle kids, and other dogs.  I will do best with a loving family that can give me lots of love and affection!  On all overseas adoption, we highly recommend our pet rescue dog trainer who will come to your home and help train your new pup.  My adoption fee of $1,495 will cover my spay/neuter, DA2PP shots, Rabies, Bordetella, Deworm, Heart Worm Test, Microchip, Boarding Fees, Health Certificate and airline transport cost from Korea to Seattle.  A GPS tracker or Apple AirTag is required for all adopted dogs. You can bring your own when adopting or you can purchase an AirTag from us.  The adoption fee is firm and helps save the life of another dog needing rescue and our other dogs in need of medical care.  We do not guarantee the breed and age of the dogs.  Donations are always appreciated to help pay down our vet bills at Greenwood Vet.  Ginger's Pet Rescue is a non-profit 501C-3 organization.  The adoption fee is donated to the rescue and is tax deductible.  Please e-mail at  admin@gingerspetrescue.org  for an adoption application.     March 24, 2025, 8:24 pm

Fill out the form, save it to your hard drive, then email back to sian@gingerspetrescue.org Hi, my name is Ellie from Korea and I am a wonderful 6  year-old female Maltese, weighing 9  lbs.    I was rescued from an illegal breeding facility in Korea, where dogs like me endure unimaginable cruelty and hardship. Thankfully, compassionate rescuers saved me and gave me the chance to experience something I’d never known before, hope.  I’m a gentle and affectionate companion who loves being around people, including kind children. I get along well with other dogs and would enjoy a family who can shower me with attention and affection.  I’d do best in a home with a family who understands that rescued dogs need patience and time to adjust.    We recommend working with our skilled pet rescue trainer. My adoption fee of  $1,495 (tax-deductible and essential for supporting future rescues) c  overs Spay/Neuter.    DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella vaccinations,  Deworming and Heartworm testing,  Microchipping,  Boarding fees, health certificate, and airline transport from Korea to Seattle.    For safety, all adopted dogs must have a GPS tracker or Apple AirTag. You can bring your own or purchase one from us.    Your support allows Ginger’s Pet Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to continue its lifesaving work and provide critical medical care for animals in  need.    Email  admin@gingerspetrescue.org  to request an adoption application or to learn more about me. Donations to help with vet bills at Greenwood Vet are always appreciated—they make rescues like mine possible.     March 24, 2025, 8:24 pm

Story
Good with other dogs • Good with cats • Food motivated • Playful • Snuggly Sonic is a super sweet and snuggly little pup. He may be timid at first, but once he warms up, he’s a playful, happy little guy who loves to be close to his humans. He is always curious about where you are and prefers to be by your side. Sonic enjoys toys, chews, and has a great appetite, always ready for a meal. He loves the company of his foster family's dogs and his two little foster brothers. At night, Sonic sleeps in the bed with his fosters, ensuring he’s cozy and close. During the day, he takes naps in dog beds or on the couch. Sonic is making good progress with potty training. While he often goes near the pads, he occasionally misses. He hasn’t had much opportunity to go outside due to the cold, but we expect he’ll be ready for outdoor potty trips soon. Though he’s still a little awkward when being picked up, Sonic loves snuggling next to you on the bed or couch. He especially enjoys watching the humans cook, and he gets a special treat every day, usually rice, scrambled eggs, and cottage cheese. Sonic is a very special pup, and he would thrive with a family that appreciates his affectionate nature and enjoys having a loving companion who likes to stay close. ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
