Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, April 6th at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-3pm, unless he/she is set up and adopted prior to the event. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $300  Rutabaga is a 7 year old Miniature Pinscher mix who was surrendered to us when her family was moving and was no longer able to take care of her. Rutabaga is the kind of dog that takes a bit of time to warm up to you but then she is your one and only forever. If you are looking for an older (golden) gal who still has a TON of love to show the world, Rutabaga is your girl.  Below is a note from Rutabaga's foster. 'Rutabaga is the kind of dog that takes a few days to come out of her shell but once she has, she is the biggest snuggler and cuddler I have ever met. She follows me absolutely everywhere (but she isn't clingy). When I have to work she is happy to sit on her bed and play with a toy, but her ideal spot is sitting on my lap and having me pet her for hours. The funniest thing we discovered is that she is more likely to want attention when we are giving it to someone else, then she is like 'me me me!' Rutabaga wakes up around 7 AM and heads out for a 15 minute potty walk. She has breakfast and then spends some of her morning lounging around while I get some work done. She gets another walk in the middle of the day before another nap. She gets a long walk in the evening before having dinner and settling down for the evening. Rutabaga has gotten along well with big and small dogs alike. I don't think she thinks she is as small as she is, because she has that fearless big dog energy that only small dogs seem to emulate. Rutabaga likes a walk but she is totally a couch potato dog when we let her hang out on the couch.  My favorite thing about Rutabaga is when she wants attention she will stand on her back two legs to try and show off, but then she loses her balance and sometimes ends up toppling over onto a soft bed nearby.'   Rutabaga is only an option for those who have owned a dog in the past 5 years, with emphasis placed on those applications who have experience with shy dogs. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10 and on the quieter side, as she is a smaller gal who needs a bit of time to warm up to new people and loud kids could freak her out. April 19, 2024, 1:21 am

Those who know the Min Pin breed will recognize the personality just bursting out of Duke, even from his pictures! Like his name suggests, this royal pup knows how cute he is and he struts his stuff to show it! Below is a note from Duke’s foster.  “Duke is a very smart and curious pup. He loves to cuddle and he loves to play. He adores his squeaky toys and can keep himself occupied for hours if I am working and can’t toss his toys for him. He loves to roll around in his dog bed. He is such a goofy dog with so much personality, even though he is very small.  Duke wakes up around 8 AM and gets his morning walk and potty break. He comes inside for breakfast and then snuggles in for a morning nap. He gets another potty break around noon and likes to hang out and play with his toys throughout the afternoon. In the evening, he gets a longer walk and has dinner before watching TV with us. Bedtime is at 10 PM and he sleeps in his crate. Duke has not had any accidents with us. Duke is learning his leash manners with other dogs on walks. He gets very excited when he sees other dogs outside but takes corrections well. He could live with another dog, but he would love to soak up solo love from his forever home. He loves all the adults and kids he has met. He is going to be such a good companion for his lucky new family.” Duke is only an option for those homes who have owned a dog previously. Children in the home should be over the age of 15.April 19, 2024, 1:21 am

Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $600   Coco is a 4 month old Miniature Pinscher x Chihuahua mix who will go coco-nuts with love for her new family! This little girl was surrendered to our rescue after her former home was no longer able to care for her. Well, we knew this designer dog deserved the best home full of treats and a closet of outfits, and that’s what we promised her! Now that Coco is ready for adoption, she can’t wait to channel her adorable energy into a forever home! Coco will remain under 12 pounds when fully grown, making her the perfect addition to any household!    Coco is a lovergirl! Coco adores her people and is happy to sit by your feet or next to you on the couch. As long as you are there, so is Coco! Coco loves snuggling and she loves a belly rub. Coco loves playing with her toys, especially when she can rope someone else into playing with her! She has a sassy little personality and will steal socks before sprinting away with her prize as her tail wags. Coco has no idea she isn’t as big as her foster siblings and she strives to keep up with the best of them! Like any good puppy, Coco is playful and energetic when she is awake, and fully zonked out when she’s ready for a rest. Coco is very easy-going and happy to do whatever! If everyone is busy, she can keep herself busy with the toy bin, taking all her toys out and spreading them around. If you’re ready for adventure, she’s grabbing the leash and waiting by the door!  Coco wakes up around 7 AM and immediately goes out to potty. She gets some playtime before breakfast and then eats at around 9 AM. During the day, Coco alternates between napping on her bed, playing with her foster brothers, getting pets from her foster parents, and zooming around the yard. Coco has free access to the backyard and has been making improvements on her potty training. Coco eats lunch at 1 PM and then works on some training skills. Dinner is at 6 PM followed by another play session in the backyard. In the evening, Coco gets her cuddles on the couch as she squeaks her toys. She goes to her pen for the night after one last potty break at 9 PM.  Coco gets along very well with the resident dogs in her foster home. She would be a great addition to a home with a dog or as a solo pup. Coco gets along with everyone she meets and would love a home where she can spend her days with her people or canine siblings. She is very food motivated so training with Coco will be a fun time. She promises to be the best companion ever. Don’t let someone else scoop up this designer gal, she promises to fill your life with love and joy!    Coco is an option for those who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.April 19, 2024, 1:21 am

He is very food motivated, so is easy to train. Despite his young age, Ryan is well behaved, with no barking or chewing issues; and he is crate trained to sleep overnight. His favorite pastime is hanging out with doggie pals in the park and the daily walks. Ryan is loyal to his master; he could be a little shy when introduced to strangers, but is easy-going and comfortable around familiar faces. He gets along well with dogs and cats. Ryan will be a great companion pet if he got chance to be your family member. Please watch his video to learn more about sweet Ryan. Ryan’s rescue story: Like other strays, puppy Ryan was under the feeding of volunteers for the first five months of his life, until one day he was injured by a car. Treatment for him in the hospital was successful and he soon resumed normal activities and stayed in the shelter until he was one year old. When he was finally put under the care of a foster family, Ryan was very timid and skittish, but showed great improvement in socializing in just a few months under the care of his foster family. Now he’s fully adapted to the busy streets in the city and can walk confidently when lead by a leash. Story
WEIGHT: 13lbs.Meet Omelette- This little girl came to us from a partner shelter after she was surrendered by her previous owners with two other dogs. She is used to living in a home, so she should make an easy transition into her new environment. She is sweet, excitable, and walks well on leash. While Omelette can be a bit timid upon first meeting, she warms up quickly and is very trusting. Since we know for sure that she has lived with other dogs, a home with other animals would be nice for her providing they meet at the shelter first. Have you been looking for a darling little min-pin? If so, it looks like you found her! Call our adoptions desk or stop by during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.
