Story
Hello, My wife's mother needs care in Japan, and we're expecting a baby boy there too. Unfortunately, we can't bring Charlie, our Mini Pinscher, along for the journey. We adopted him from the pound when he was 4, and we've taken care of him for the past 3.5 years. Charlie needs a special family who can understand his needs. He's not great with strangers but is incredibly loving to those he trusts. Having a doggy door is a must for him, and he'll thrive in a home where he can feel safe and loved. He is healthy, is neutered, and has all his shots. It breaks our hearts to have to part with him, but we want to find him a loving family rather than surrender him to the pound. If you think you can provide Charlie with the care and attention he deserves, please get in touch at (925) 876-6125. We'd love to chat and see if you could be the perfect fit for our beloved Charlie.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This is what Niner's foster had to say about him:"He is a super fast runner and top notch walker! He rode well in the car, very excited about looking out the window. At one point he flew around me in tight circles, just overcome with joy. We walked about 3 miles and he never got tired. He didn't seem to have much of a reaction to other dogs we saw, just a few barks, then eagerly back to the task at hand - walking! At first he didn't seem too interested in me, but after we got back to the car, he hopped into my lap for a long cuddle session. Niner would make an ideal companion for someone who already walks daily or is interested in having an enthusiastic exercise partner. Niner is a happy, well adjusted little guy who generated a lot of interest from other park visitors, eliciting smiles and comments about how cute he is. What a dear little guy!" You can vote once a day but on multiple devices. http://bit.ly/dpswinky Rutabaga is a 7 year old Miniature Pinscher mix who was surrendered to us when her family was moving and was no longer able to take care of her. Rutabaga is the kind of dog that takes a bit of time to warm up to you but then she is your one and only forever. If you are looking for an older (golden) gal who still has a TON of love to show the world, Rutabaga is your girl.  Below is a note from Rutabaga's foster. 'Rutabaga is the kind of dog that takes a few days to come out of her shell but once she has, she is the biggest snuggler and cuddler I have ever met. She follows me absolutely everywhere (but she isn't clingy). When I have to work she is happy to sit on her bed and play with a toy, but her ideal spot is sitting on my lap and having me pet her for hours. The funniest thing we discovered is that she is more likely to want attention when we are giving it to someone else, then she is like 'me me me!' Rutabaga wakes up around 7 AM and heads out for a 15 minute potty walk. She has breakfast and then spends some of her morning lounging around while I get some work done. She gets another walk in the middle of the day before another nap. She gets a long walk in the evening before having dinner and settling down for the evening. Rutabaga has gotten along well with big and small dogs alike. I don't think she thinks she is as small as she is, because she has that fearless big dog energy that only small dogs seem to emulate. Rutabaga likes a walk but she is totally a couch potato dog when we let her hang out on the couch.  My favorite thing about Rutabaga is when she wants attention she will stand on her back two legs to try and show off, but then she loses her balance and sometimes ends up toppling over onto a soft bed nearby.'   Rutabaga is only an option for those who have owned a dog in the past 5 years, with emphasis placed on those applications who have experience with shy dogs. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10 and on the quieter side, as she is a smaller gal who needs a bit of time to warm up to new people and loud kids could freak her out. May 22, 2024, 9:48 pm

Those who know the Min Pin breed will recognize the personality just bursting out of Duke, even from his pictures! Like his name suggests, this royal pup knows how cute he is and he struts his stuff to show it! Below is a note from Duke’s foster.  “Duke is a very smart and curious pup. He loves to cuddle and he loves to play. He adores his squeaky toys and can keep himself occupied for hours if I am working and can’t toss his toys for him. He loves to roll around in his dog bed. He is such a goofy dog with so much personality, even though he is very small.  Duke wakes up around 8 AM and gets his morning walk and potty break. He comes inside for breakfast and then snuggles in for a morning nap. He gets another potty break around noon and likes to hang out and play with his toys throughout the afternoon. In the evening, he gets a longer walk and has dinner before watching TV with us. Bedtime is at 10 PM and he sleeps in his crate. Duke has not had any accidents with us. Duke is learning his leash manners with other dogs on walks. He gets very excited when he sees other dogs outside but takes corrections well. He could live with another dog, but he would love to soak up solo love from his forever home. He loves all the adults and kids he has met. He is going to be such a good companion for his lucky new family.” Duke is only an option for those homes who have owned a dog previously. Children in the home should be over the age of 15.May 22, 2024, 9:48 pm

Ryan, Neutered male, 1 Year 11 months, 29-Lbs. If you would like to give RYAN a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application About Ryan: Ryan is a good-looking young pup with calm temperament; he is docile and submissive by nature. He is very food motivated, so is easy to train. Despite his young age, Ryan is well behaved, with no barking or chewing issues; and he is crate trained to sleep overnight. His favorite pastime is hanging out with doggie pals in the park and the daily walks. Ryan is loyal to his master; he could be a little shy when introduced to strangers, but is easy-going and comfortable around familiar faces. He gets along well with dogs and cats. Ryan will be a great companion pet if he got chance to be your family member. Please watch his video to learn more about sweet Ryan. Ryan’s rescue story: Like other strays, puppy Ryan was under the feeding of volunteers for the first five months of his life, until one day he was injured by a car. Treatment for him in the hospital was successful and he soon resumed normal activities and stayed in the shelter until he was one year old. When he was finally put under the care of a foster family, Ryan was very timid and skittish, but showed great improvement in socializing in just a few months under the care of his foster family. Now he’s fully adapted to the busy streets in the city and can walk confidently when lead by a leash. Story
Hi! I’m Belle and I am the most blessed dog. I was dropped off to get euthanized due to my vision impairment and the most wonderful people at the shelter decided that I was still worthy of being someone’s pet because I had so much love to give. I am 11 years young, 27 lbs, and I’m searching for a partner who enjoys a good snuggle, has a cozy lap, and loves morning walks. I enjoy laying in the sun, chasing balls, and snoozing away while you work. And I happily receive my eye drops that come with treats. Might you be curious about meeting me?
