Bashful Tourist So this is my first time on my own and, jeez, did you know the world is a really big and kind of scary place (especially when you don't speak the language)? With the right translator, I know I can learn my way around. Until I get familiar with the place, let me stay right by your side or maybe just a little behind you. Story
Miniature Pinscher / Terrier Mix Age: 5-6 yrs old Male, neutered 16 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Murphy was found abandoned on the streets of Newark. He was in pretty bad shape - neglected, possibly abused, skin issues, matted fur, etc. At the shelter he was shutdown, fearful, untrusting. The Tri-City Fremont Shelter reached out to us for help. Murphy is an interesting / complex little guy. He is constantly seeking attention from humans (any human that will pet him). At the same time, he will occasionally give signals that would make someone think that he doesn’t want attention. He walks well on a leash. He is unsure about some types of handling, but our experienced foster home has been able to put a harness on him, pick him up, bath him, etc. But it takes time for him to trust someone before he is comfortable. He does well with other dogs, and he has been in a foster home with cats, birds, chickens, reptiles. Even though his appearance screams “Yorkie” or “Norfolk Terrier,” his DNA results show mostly Miniature Pinscher and Jack Russell Terrier. We have no idea where his long silky fur came from. Murphy needs a forever home that will give him the time and patience to continue learning to trust humans again. He needs an experienced, confident adopter that can read his mood and interact with him accordingly. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13, However, in Murphy’s case - an adult home only. Story
I first saw Angus in a post in January 2023 on Nextdoor about a dog found by a good samaritan who was looking for the human. The post stated the dog was injured, possibly a broken leg. A couple days later the post was updated to say he was brought to ACC. I immediately contacted GDR and told my case worker that I would foster him. Apparently he was injured somehow, maybe hit by a car, because he had a broken leg and a fractured lower canine tooth which both needed to be removed. Fast forward 3 months. . . Angus has been through so much in his short life and has healed beautifully from major traumatic surgery. He is a tiny tripawd, about 2 years old and 9 pounds, and full of lovable, cuddly puppy energy. He has brought out the playful side of our 2 resident dogs-(8yr old 9 lb female Chi mix & 6 yr old 40 lb male Brittany). He is very easy to fall in love with. He’s really smart & listens well and 100% house trained (no pee pads). He is very vocal and lets you know when it’s time to go out. If you talk to him, his response, “rooo roooo” has various meanings. We’ve been working on his socialization because he’s shy around new people and dogs. He warms up quickly to calm dogs at home but is not a dog park dog. He loves long walks, running around the enclosed yard playing chase & has lots of energy & stamina. Angus would be the most happy in a calm adult household with regular daily routines and no children. He dreams of having a human to cuddle with who will talk to him & spend lots of time with him and maybe another small dog his size who will play with him. He can be overwhelmed by dogs who are much bigger. He needs lots of toys to play with, someone who will brush his teeth, feed him a healthy diet and buy him new sweaters. In return, Angus will love you unconditionally for the rest of his life. If this sweet boy sounds like the kind of companion you’d love to have in your life, Please fill out an application to adopt with Grateful Dog Rescue. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substanti al veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Angus is $300. If you are interested in adopting Angus, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. September 21, 2023, 2:20 pm

Story
Randall the Miniature Pincher who is anything but miniature. This black and tan boy is fun and exciting. Randall is an active fella who has no problem conquering the stairs. He enjoys short walks through the neighborhood and may ask you to treat him to a sundae while ya'll are out and about, but we suggest maybe a froyo instead. Randall could stand to lose a few if you know what we mean. He is always happy and starts each day with a smile on his face. Wouldn't it be amazing to wake up to a contagious smile every morning? Adopt Randall and you'll never have a bad day! Here's some notes from his foster: Randall is such a good boy! He is very housetrained. Will let you know when he needs to go potty. Stands by door, and once put paw on my arm with "serious" look on face, we went out and he relieved himself. He is such a smart boy. Loves food puzzles, including snuffle rug, Kong. Loves chew toys. He is pretty active (enjoys walks) and loves to stay engaged with his humans. Playtime is his favorite! Sometimes he does just want to relax in his space and snooze! LOVES playing Catch! He catches small squeaky tennis ball and brings it back for more play. When he's had enough he will lie down with ball and stop play. After some rest he'll come back for more play. He'd do great playing catch in a yard. LOVES car rides. Very eager to get in car, very excited to sniff out window. During drives, does not bark or stress when he sees dogs outside. When Randall was charged by off leash dogs, once in Duboce Park, once in Baker Beach, he did not respond, we stepped away while owner put dog on lead. Randall is friendly with small and large dogs. Randall very much enjoyed greeting and receiving attention from three houseguests, he ran down hallway to greet them. Everyone gave him space to say hello, which he did eagerly and he received head pats and scratches. He is extremely polite when it comes to food, he does not beg and when I'm cooking he steps into kitchen, but after short while steps out of kitchen and lays outside by doorway. At a drive through visit, did not beg whatsoever, he sat quietly and accepted a French Fry when offered. Sits calmly while I had coffee with friend at outdoor coffee shop. Was fine people watching, occasionally hopped down to sniff or greet a dog. Sat calmly when I took him to local pub during a quiet time. Environment was not very loud. He accepted treat offered by neighbor. Did not react when a loud group of people walked in. Was content to sit next to me with relaxed body language.
