Story
Animal Profile: Hugo is a 2-year-old, 13-pound Rat Terrier mix with a big personality packed into a small frame! This cheerful little guy is full of spunk and loves to play, whether it’s with big dogs, small dogs, or anyone ready for some fun. Sadly, Hugo found himself at risk in an overcrowded shelter simply because there wasn’t enough space. But despite it all, he never lost his happy spirit or wagging tail. His playful energy and friendly nature shine through in every interaction. Foster Update:  This spirited 2-year-old Rat Terrier mix joined our rescue last November and has been making impressive progress ever since. Early on, Hugo showed some bitey behaviors around handling and resources he wasn’t ready to share, but with the help of a dedicated foster team and professional training, he’s come a long way. Hugo has spent several months working with a balanced trainer and has really thrived. He loves learning, enjoys training sessions, and is always up for playtime. He’s an active, outgoing little guy who would do best with someone who can continue to engage both his body and mind. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and rides well in the car. Hugo can be a bit vocal when he gets excited and definitely has a touch of FOMO, he likes to be part of the action! He warms up quickly to new people and enjoys making new friends. Hugo is looking for an adult-only home with experienced dog owners who understand how to provide structure and consistency. To set everyone up for success, his trainer will offer a go-home lesson and follow-up support to help ease the transition. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Stanislaus shelter in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 11/13 via START. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.May 29, 2026, 11:51 pm

Story
Dapper 12-year-old Jax is an active and smart boy who will be a wonderful companion for the right person! Jax is a 25 lb. rat terrier. He is in excellent physical condition after beating cancer (a mast cell tumor on his belly)! Jax loves sunning himself, walking, jogging, playing with stuffed animals, and playing fetch. He gets along well with small dogs and calm large dogs. He has been very nice to his foster siblings but can be protective of his space and might correct another dog who touches or steps on him with a yowl and small snap. He is protective of his body and needs to wear a muzzle to be physically handled. Jax would be good as a single dog or with a respectful, smaller dog. Jax should not live with cats or other small pets. He also has a bit of anxiety, which has been greatly reduced with a stable schedule and increased exercise, but if unchecked can spiral into bouts of barking. Jax barks at the door when he needs to go out and is perfectly house-trained. He can be trusted to be free indoors and doesn't get into the trash, counter-surf, or chew items. Jax may seem tough, but he has a soft, loving heart for someone willing to take the time to understand him. Story
Georgie is a 7.5 lb., happy and bouncy, but shy, 1-year-old rat terrier mix.   When he arrived at his foster home in March from a shelter in CA, he was terrified. He could not be handled, and hid for quite a while. He has made great progress since then, coming out of his shell to show his silly side. He still avoids petting or handling when he's up and about, or by those approaching him from above. But he's  snuggly in bed, and he will sometimes allow pets and snuggles while resting on the couch. He loves to play with toys, adores other small dogs, and would love to be friends with his cat siblings. He's curious about new people, but does not want them to touch him at first. Georgie follows his foster mom from room to room. While he can be timid and avoid hands, he also has the joy, energy, and curiosity of a puppy. He will hide your shoes, steal your yarn, shred your papers, bother your plants, chase all of the toys, and generally bring wonderful, joyful chaos into your home. Georgie adores his foster sister. He follows her everywhere, wishing she would deign to play, but is extremely respectful of her rebukes. He would love to live in a home with another confident small dog, ideally one who will play with him. He's been scared/upset about large (>30 lb) dogs in his space. He desperately wants the cats in his home to play with him as well. His sort of attention may not be for every cat. Georgie has not been tested with children. Georgie does not yet understand about leash walking, and it's pretty challenging to get one on him. He is working on house-training. He is potty-pad trained to some extent. He will happily go pee and poop outside almost immediately if taken out every few hours, but does not ask to be taken out for that specifically. He will need an extremely securely fenced yard at his new home with no small gaps, as it would be very difficult to get him back should he escape and become frightened. For a small dog, Georgie is super quiet. He gives an adorable tiny squeak when he really really wants something, and he play growls from time to time. He has only ever barked when large dogs have entered his space, and only for a short time. He is a true gentleman indeed and would make a wonderful addition to your family.   See more photos of him here:  https://hosting.imageevent.com/newrattitude/georgie If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. Story
Sweet Sybil is a darling old lady who needs a soft place to land in her golden years! Sybil is 14 years-old, about 14 lbs., and was adopted 10 years ago but ended up back to New Rattitude after her adopter became too ill to care for her. She is well-behaved and used to life at home as a loving pet. She is house-trained and she gets along well with other dogs, but would be good as a low-maintenance single dog too. Sybil is a bit shy of some people, but eventually warms up to anyone who is patient and kind -- cheese helps as well! Sybil is an adorable and kind-hearted girl and would love to have a quiet, caring home. She hasn't been around kids or cats, but she would likely do well with polite and respectful children and dog-savvy cats. See more pictures of Sybil at her online album here:  https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/sybil    If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. Story
Nixie is very sweet and mild. She's about 8 years-old, fully house-trained, and weighs 17 lbs. She loves all humans and is very sweet and easy to handle. She hasn't tried to play with the other pups in her foster home, enjoys being around and cuddling them. She's very passive and tries to avoid conflict with other dogs and is well-behaved and quiet. She has lived with a cats before and gets along with them. Though house-trained, Nixie may need a bit of coaxing to go outside for potty if it's raining or cold. If she's on a leash, she goes right outside and does her business no problem. She's in excellent health and has even recently had a dental cleaning!    Nixie is a very good girl who is both social and calm -- the perfect combo. If you are looking for a beautiful companion who is house-ready and has a great temperament, look no further. Story
Hi, my name is Chimenea! If I had to describe myself, I would say I am funny, playful, and happy. I love going for walks, playing with stuffed toys, running, and even car rides. I dream of finding a home where I get lots of love, regular walks, and maybe even a friendly female dog as a companion. I do best in a home without small children, and I am ready to give all my love to the right family. I was rescued after wandering the streets for many days.I have lots of energy and love to give, I would be a perfect family dog who gives me lots of time and playtime. This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. As a U.S. nonprofit, Hope 4 La Pawz, handles all logistics and provides full behavioral and medical info in advance.
