We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! Story
Hello hello! My name is JJ! I am a 6 year old BIG BIG BOY, I have a loving heart and determined personality! I LOVE exploring outdoors, so much so, that I have been a stray at the Humane Society numerous times now! It's definitely not my first rodeo in the shelter, but I'm definitely eager to get the heck out of here and find my forever home! I am a VERY strong and powerful boy. Maybe that's why I've been a stray? Because I take the humans for a walk instead of the other way around! It's not my fault I'm a big guy and know I have power behind me! I think with proper exercise and my needs met, I will be able to work on this more. But it is important for you to know about so you have the strength for a big eager guy like myself. I love to play with toys, they're probably one of my most favourite things ever! I enjoy some petting and cuddles, but if you've got some fun toys for me, I will be the most happy boy! I am an Overlooked Pet, which means I've been at the shelter for a while (over 60 days!) looking for my forever home. Think you could help? I've been waiting so long, the people here will let you choose my adoption fee! I am super sweet and handsome as can be! I can't wait to find my new human to love!

Story
Hello there, I'm Chloe. I'm a sweet senior lady, a bit on the shy side, and it may take me a while to warm up. But once I do, I promise, I'm worth the wait. I'm quite independent, but I do love all the attention I can get. A gentle pat on the head or a kind word makes my tail wag with joy. I may be a little nervous at first, but with patience and love, I'll show you the depth of my loyalty and affection. If you're looking for a companion who's independent, yet adores your company, then I'm your girl. I do need to have a 6' privacy fence and due to my nervousness I cannot go to an apartment. If you have a dog friend it needs to be a respectful, calm dog.Adopting me would mean a lifetime of love and companionship. I promise to be the best friend you've ever had.

Story
Hi, my name is Marcus! I am a 2 year old rottweiler mix looking for my forever home. I am a big, sweet boy who LOVES being around people. I love cuddling, being petted, and giving lots and lots of kisses!I love playing with all kinds of toys and will play fetch with you all day long! I have so much energy and would love a home with lots of room to run around.I am good with other dogs and play really well with them. I enjoy running and wrestling with them.I would be best in a home with no cats, as I get very focused and bark at them.I know how to sit and take treats nicely but I will need basic obedience training to work on my manners and leash training.I am also up to date on my vaccinations but will need a regular veterinarian to ensure I stay healthy for a very long time.If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. To help speed up the application process, it is recommended that you complete the online application form found at the link below.https://www.macombgov.org/departments/animal-control/adoptions,My adoption fee is SPONSORED
