Story
A Sweet Boy Looking for a Quiet, Structured HomeWith a very heavy heart, we have made the difficult decision to rehome our 7-year-old dog, Sparty. We are empty nesters hoping to travel and do things that Sparty’s anxiety makes difficult, as finding a specialized pet sitter for him has become a significant challenge. He has a ton of love to give, but he needs a specific environment to thrive. The Quick Facts:Age: 7 years oldHealth: Up to date on all vaccinations.Diet: Requires a special gastritis diet (food is easily purchased on Chewy).Medication: Takes daily Prozac to help manage his anxiety. His Personality:Sparty is sensitive, a bit anxious, and incredibly affectionate. His absolute favorite thing is to curl up and sleep right next to you in bed. Behavioral Needs & History:Because we want to be completely transparent for his safety and yours, Sparty does have resource guarding tendencies. He was resource guarding & bit my husband. Please call or email to discuss Sparty ❤️‍🩹

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
**6/9/26- as i have been unable to find him a home, and no non-kill shelter that will take him, i will be forced to surrender him to the animal control shelter who will put him to sleep, i have one week left before that day, please contact me if you can help. Bentley is a boxer mix about 2 years old, Bentley is LOVES to be petted, he is extremely affectionate, and has a lot of energy. Must have a leash on outside, won’t bark in the house, but will bark outside. Not mean at all, loves people, friendly towards new people but again lots of energy, has to be introduced to other dogs slowly. Has been raised since a puppy with another dog a husky named Sega (pictured). I am hoping to rehome them together if possible, Sega has a listing also. They are very close, they are like peas in a pod! They do everything together, play, sleep, all of it. If you can rehome one or both please let me know, i lost my home unexpectedly so i can no longer keep them.

Story
Sweet Princess was on her own outside for weeks before we could catch her. She is heartworm positive. Would you be willing to host this pretty pitty girl for a few months while she goes through her heartworm treatment? This sweet pup needs a foster home! Princess is heartworm positive and will be treated by our rescue. Princess is well behaved and housetrained. She has been gentle with cats and calm around other dogs. She’s eager to please and wants to be near humans more than anything else. She loves car rides and meeting new people. She's just learning to play, and a calm home environment will allow her the rest and relaxation she needs as she undergoes this treatment. If you live in the Detroit area within 30 minutes of Warren and have room in your heart to foster this amazing pup, please contact us. Blem A18497041 lb. neutered male, approx 1 year old -This boy can start off timid and needs you to go slow until he knows you better!-He loves to sniff and explore all his surroundings-He is treat motivated, sits and takes them nicely-He will chase toys but didn’t play-He is shy but once he is comfortable he enjoys being close for pets-Walks well on leash but needs encouragement to go through doorways-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids •Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Boxer English Bulldog

Female, Adult
Detroit, MI
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt
