Story

Sweet Princess was on her own outside for weeks before we could catch her. She is heartworm positive. Would you be willing to host this pretty pitty girl for a few months while she goes through her heartworm treatment? This sweet pup needs a foster home! Princess is heartworm positive and will be treated by our rescue. Princess is well behaved and housetrained. She has been gentle with cats and calm around other dogs. She’s eager to please and wants to be near humans more than anything else. She loves car rides and meeting new people. She's just learning to play, and a calm home environment will allow her the rest and relaxation she needs as she undergoes this treatment. If you live in the Detroit area within 30 minutes of Warren and have room in your heart to foster this amazing pup, please contact us. Story

Gozzard A 18793440 lb. neutered male, approx 2 years old* Fun, playful, and full of personality* Let off some zoomies and had a blast being silly* Spring-boarded off me during play, but it was all happy, playful energy* Quickly figured out I was a snack dispenser, and we became best friends* LOVES treats and is highly food motivated* Great personality out in the yard* Takes time to adjust before his personality shines. * Go-getter with lots of enthusiasm and personality* Not the best leash walker yet, but his personality more than makes up for it* Patiently waited in his kennel* Overall, a fun, affectionate, treat-motivated guy who would make a great active companionUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30**We ask that if you’re looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story

Norm Maclean A18106340 lb. neutered male, approx 1 year old-Happy, playful boy who loves toys! He’ll chase them and bring them back (most times). He’s also good about lying down and self entertaining.-He’s very food motivated, sits or goes into a lay, and takes them decently.-He seems smart and eager to learn and to continue working on his puppy manners. He has a great foundation already!-He loves to snuggle up close and relax for pets and belly rubs. He would have laid there all day in my arms if he could have!-He gives kisses-Walks decent on leash with minimal pulling-Will need some puppy training. Please keep that in mind if you want a puppy. They require time and patience to be the best that they can be! -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros *Has had time in a home and we learned the following*-loves playing with the other dogs (slow and proper intros always recommended)-100% housetrained and great on car rides-does excellent in his crate, where he spends his time when his foster family is away from the home. However at night he is completely trustworthy to free roam and not be crated -loves to snuggle and give kisses, but also enjoys laying off on his own Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids •Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. Citrus

Boxer English Bulldog

Female, Adult

Detroit, MI

Size

(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)

Details

House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,

Story

Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

Story

Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!
