Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Barkley is a sweet 5 yr old rottie mix. She has been in rescue over 3 years. She needs to find her forever home. She does have a high prey drive, so no cats or small dogs. She has done absolutely fine with older children. She has not been exposed to smaller kids other than walking through the store and did fine. She has been completely vetted and is house and crate trained. She loves her belly rubs and will often wait for you to give her one before coming inside. She has no issues

Story
Rags is a very friendly and chill Rottie mix who was luckily rescued by his foster. He was found walking down a median on a busy road in Detroit. Rags currently lives with several other dogs and is very loving and sweet. It appeared he was not very well taken care of when found. He has an overbite which was probably congenital that causes his tongue to stick out. He had heartworm disease when we first got him but he was treated and is now healthy and heartworm negative. Rags is about 75 pounds and estimated to be about 10 years old. Rags has a good personality and would love to finally find a wonderful new family to love and care for him. This fellow definitely deserves it. Please consider making him a new addition to your home or companion for another friendly dog.

Coco is the sweetest of girls and is looking for her forever family. Watch video here https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1896V157zZ/ She is a little shy and prefers a calm environment. She loves other dogs and plays well with her 3 foster siblings. She loves a good game of chase, and she loves to chew on antlers and toys that squeak. Coco gets excited to go on car rides and is ready to go whenever you pick up the keys. She rides very well in the car. She has had some training and is great with 'sit' and 'down' and offering her paw. She is working on reinforcing the 'stay' and 'come' commands with her foster parents. She would do best with a fenced yard and supervision (at first anyhow). Her previous family reported a tendency to run off. Her foster family has seen no such behavior. Coco is housetrained and is a bit afraid of her crate - which is being worked on. She sleeps all night on her dog bed in the master bedroom. She is a cuddler and wants to be close to her people. She goes by Roxy, Rox, or her favorite, ROXER! We took her in Xmas eve last minute, from her owner of 10+ years, who was going to put her down if he didn’t find a home due to “not having time for her anymore.” She is 13/14 years old. Boxer mix. She has a growth on her leg that her prev owner said was non cancerous and didn’t need to be removed, but it affects her walking to where she has a limp. She is such a sweet girl and would do good in a home w older or less hyper dogs. Or at least trained dogs! she just needs a good home! She’s still playful and very energetic! She enjoys lots of cuddles! Grew up around kids, dogs, and cats! ? She is also spayed and housebroken! She loves loves loves lots of cookies (aka dog treats haha).
