Bear! This little guy is a 2 year old, 17 pound Shih Tzu mix! Bear is good with other dogs and he is getting used to meeting new people and experiencing new things in his foster home. He's working on training and doing well with his crate and potty training! He's also getting used to wearing a harness so he can start leash training. He likes to spend time with his canine foster brother, cuddling up or running and playing outside. He has also started to play with his squeaky toys! Since living in a home is new to Bear, he is looking for a patient adopter who will patiently draw him out of his shell, and work on training at his pace and comfort level. He hopes to find a loving home and would love to have a well-adjusted resident dog pup to continue showing him the way. He has the cutest little face with the most expressive eyes! Bubbles and her sister and brother, Buttercup and Brodie were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd this year so they are 8 months old. Bubbles has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs just under 9 pounds and is probably full grown now. Bubbles is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Although and three pups are extremely sweet, Bubbles is a most friendly and a super snuggler! She plays great with her brother and sister and we feel like she would be fine with other dogs after getting to know them. She would do well with older children and we have not had her around cats but we feel like she would be fine with proper introduction. If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ Renata is at best a 1.5 year old, if not younger, jet black female Shih Tzu who weighs in at 9 pounds. This dog's adoption fee is $625. If you are still interested, please read more below. Renata was found running as a stray and there is some indication that she has had a litter of puppies. It’s hard to believe she was running as a stray—she sticks to her foster mom like glue. Wherever her Foster Mom goes, she follows. She has a loving disposition and greets everyone who comes through the door as if they were her best friend. Renata is very good with other dogs—respectful of older dogs and loves to play with the younger animals in the house. She hasn’t been around large dogs while in her foster home, but we have no reason to think she would have any issues with friendly dogs of any size. Her ideal human would have a warm and welcoming lap to cuddle on, a bed that she can sleep at the foot of the bed, and chews to chew on from time to time (her favorites are cross cut antlers, collagen chews—stuff that tastes good). Renata would love a home where she gets taken on walks - but she has made it abundantly clear in this super frigid weather that she does not need to go for long walks! She is just as happy to hunker down with you on the sofa or on the floor facing the fireplace. Renata is a true gem! The worst thing her Foster Mom could come up with is that sometimes she takes the treats a little roughly. Even the vet said she is a five star dog! Renata is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and potty pad trained, and spayed. This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. I’m sweet, and always ready to be your little sidekick. I may be small, but my personality is mighty. I also want to share my story… I was going to be euthanized by my breeder — simply because I wasn’t “perfect.” Thankfully, a rescue stepped in and saved my life.
