Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Interested in adopting? See our adoption process. KANGA  thrives on adventure and would love an active adopter who will take him on adventures and give him plenty of play time! Kanga is a loyal guy and will be a great companion for someone. He also LOVES the snow! His number one favorite activity (even more than walks and treats!) is going for car rides! He loves feeling the wind in his face through an open window (car surfing). Kanga is incredibly observant and curious. Kanga’s comfort with people has grown significantly while in rescue. He does need a little time to build trust, but eventually he will follow you around and give you kisses! He is also quite affectionate and loyal to those he bonds with. Kanga has excellent house manners and is happy to chill on his bed or lay beside you as you work. He has basic training and knows: sit, down, come, get it, stay, and release and is ready for the next level of training. He is very treat motivated and responds well to a clicker. Kanga just needs to know you can be counted on to pay attention to his physical cues when he’s feeling overwhelmed. Kanga would do best in a home setting with a secure yard and would prefer to be your only pet. He might do well with savvy teens as long as they are aware of Kanga’s “dog language” and can give him space when he needs it.  Are you the active, patient, forever home that Kanga is seeking?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 28, 2023, 11:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Interested in adopting? See our adoption process. PHOENIX is a spirited and affectionate dog who has overcome many challenges to become the lovable companion he is today. With a striking appearance and a heart full of love, he is on a journey to find his forever home. This sweet-natured canine requires an owner who can provide consistent guidance and training. Phoenix thrives on mental and physical stimulation and requires an engaged owner who can provide him with ample opportunities for play and exercise. Despite his occasional mischievousness and counter-surfing tendencies, Phoenix's loyalty and desire for affection shine through, making him a wonderful companion for the right family willing to give him the love and structure he deserves. While Phoenix often plays with dogs his size, he would prefer not to share his home with another dog.  IMPORTANT - Please Note:  Phoenix is currently residing with his owner in Maryland. WAMAL is passing approved adopters along to Phoenix's owner so interested adopters must be willing to travel to Maryland to meet Phoenix, as such interested adopters are not required to live in Washington or Oregon. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 28, 2023, 11:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Interested in adopting? See our adoption process. DIAMOND truly sparkles and will be the gem of her new pack!  She is ready to play, play, play with her canine companions and is just a joy to watch.  Toys are also super fun and she will bring a toy over to one of her packmates to engage in play.  While she enjoys play time, she also knows how to relax and chill out with her pack.  She thinks couches are just the best and will happily sit next to you for movie night.    She loves to spend time with her people, get pets and attention, and takes treats very gently.  DIAMOND is also a smart girl and knows a lot of commands including 'sit', 'lay down', 'paw', and 'speak', is house trained, and does well in the car.  Diamond shines brighter than her namesake and will tell Woooo all about how amazing and sweet she is!   DIAMOND would love another dog to play with in her new home.  Or be happy as your one and only.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 28, 2023, 11:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Interested in adopting? See our adoption process. Little Miss SHELBY is a sweetheart with a big smile and a nonstop tail wag!  Based on her size, we expect she is a malamute and husky mix, bringing the best of both breeds.  She knows basic commands, "sit", "down" and "wait" but could use further training.  She is food motivated which will help when teaching her new commands and tricks.  SHELBY is good on the leash and will enjoy joining you on all of your outdoor adventures.  She is a  loving, playful, active girl who generally does well with other dogs once they have established who is boss in the house (hint: it's her!). SHELBY has food allergies that will require a special diet and lifetime of medication.  Therefore, she needs a family that can afford her medications, special food and has the time to administrator them. SHELBY would love for you to open up your home to her and she promises to not steal the couch...well, at least not the whole couch! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Interested in adopting? See our adoption process. WILLOW is a beautiful malamute that is looking for a home familiar with malamutes and their unique characteristics!  Super smart, she is house trained, does well in the car, and knows a bunch of commands including 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'paw', and 'no'.  Typical of the breed she does not prefer being told 'no' (we feel you Willow!) and will woo at you to let you know it. Working on leash skills and going on adventures will be a priority for her new family.  As smart as she is, we expect she will pick up those skills quickly! Another fun exercise activity for her is running around the yard playing with her stuffed toys.  WILLOW is picky about sharing her space with other dogs so will need to be an only dog.    She enjoys belly rubs, being brushed and giving kisses.  WILLOW  can't wait to meet her new furever family!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 28, 2023, 11:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.COURTESY LISTING If you would like to learn more about Niko please contact  Forever Home Dog Rescue  fhdrwa@gmail.com My name is  Niko ! My Story: Say hi to Niko! This sweet Alaskan Malamute has had a rough past and is ready to move forward with his loving forever home. Niko is around 3 years old and currently weighs around 50lbs, but is very underweight and is working on getting to a healthy weight. Niko was a stray dog in Mexico, which is a tough place for a Malamute to be a stray! He recently joined us and is now looking for his forever home. Niko is an awesome dog but does have some issues that will require the right home, training and experience. Niko is currently in a foster home with 4 other dogs. He has started to show resource guarding (with food, toys, etc), which is no surprise as he is used to competing for his food and resources as a stray. So he is currently being kept separate, and having supervised increments of socialization with the dogs on leash and with all food and toys away. He does do well with other dogs, as long as there are no resources for him to feel like he needs to protect. He is a dog that with some professional training and structure could definitely improve with his resource guarding. We are looking for one of two homes for him, a home where he is an only dog but can get continued training and supervised socialization around other dogs, or a home that is very experienced with resource guarding and has another large, laid back female dog that is not interested in toys. If you are a home looking for a single dog, Niko would be a great fit as many of his day to day resource guarding would be eliminated without other dogs in the home. We still would recommend training for this behavior. But he is not reactive on leash or bad with other dogs out and about. Outside of his resource guarding, Niko is an awesome dog! He loves to play with toys with his people, likes to hang out in the yard with you or in the house. He is great on car rides, is crate trained and is quiet and rests in his crate, he is working on his potty training which with his background is to be expected. Niko would be best suited in an adult home only due to his resource guarding he is working on, but could do ok in an experienced home with kids over 12. Niko would love to have a home with a fenced yard. No apartments, no cats or small critters. He also needs a home with medium to large dogs if any for safety due to his resource guarding. Niko is neutered, microchipped and UTD on shots. His adoption fee is $450. Lovingly cared for by  Forever Home Dog Rescue Web Link to Niko:   https://adoptapet.com/pet/31924548-Seattle-WA?fromShelter=1 email:  fhdrwa@gmail.com IMPORTANT-Please Note: Niko is being listed as a courtesy.
