Story
JEWEL - MY NAME SUITS ME:  Approx. 11 years old / Approx. 57 lbs.  Hi there, I’m Jewel! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control with a 2.2-lb, softball-sized mammary mass hanging from my skin that nearly touched the ground.  You may have seen me featured on Facebook, where I showed just how happy and resilient I am despite everything I was facing.  When I arrived, I needed extensive medical care, and my bloodwork in particular was made possible thanks to a generous grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization (see the medical section below for details).         • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, and I enjoy the company and playtimes with the other dog in my foster home that’s about my size, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I’ve met the grandkids in my foster home and liked them.  I’m an older girl so my foster thinks that kids 7+ would be best, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a super sweet, cuddly, go-with-the-flow kind of girl with a joyful spirit and so much love to give.  I’m also friendly, gentle, happy, and I have great house manners and a tail that never stops wagging.  I’m always thrilled to see you and truly just the most delightful, happy girl who can’t wait to share life (and lots of love) with someone special.  I may be 11 years old, but I don’t act my age as I’m more active than you would think. / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  At the Mostly Mutts shelter, I was tested and knew the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘drop it’ commands and I accepted friendly strangers without jumping on them and had good leash manners, too.  I haven’t practiced all of these in my foster home, since I needed surgery and recovery time, but I’m sure with a little review, I’ll show them to you, too. / I haven’t been crated in my foster home, but I sleep well in my foster’s large laundry room and nap there when they are away at work. / My potty manners have been very good in my foster home as I know to go outside. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to chill and be loved on, enjoy nice walks, and cuddling up on the couch.  Chewing on antlers and bones is a favorite pastime, and I also love rolling around in the grass soaking up the moment and hanging out as well as playing with the other nice dog in my foster home. / Car rides make me a bit nervous right now, and I tend to whine, but I’m already getting better with practice.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, gentle exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations and micro-chipped.  I had several masses in my mammary chains, and they have been removed and I've now been spayed, making my risk of cancer return low, so that's good news!  I take an inexpensive over-the-counter joint supplement called Cosequin which is good for all older dogs.  I have a heart condition called ARVC which doesn’t slow me down – ask about this and you can consult your vet for ongoing cardiac care.  A dental cleaning would be good, but I cannot have that due to going under anesthesia again.  It is dangerous due to my heart condition, but there are several dental treatments that you could try at home that are over-the-counter.  I’m looking for a wonderful family that will take great care of me and love me for the rest of my life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  January 6, 2026, 7:14 am

Story
A SWEET, PLAYFUL SENIOR FELLOW:  Approx. 9 years old / Approx. 46 lbs. Hi there, I’m Roy! I came to Mostly Mutts after finding myself at animal control - I don’t remember how I ended up there, but I’m so grateful to be safe and well cared for now. I’m a sweet, hopeful guy who’s excited about the future and dreaming of a loving home and family of my own. When I arrived, I had thin fur and some skin issues likely due to neglect, I also needed a dental cleaning, and I had infected ears and sore eyes. I needed bloodwork, which I was able to receive thanks to a generous grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization. I’m feeling and looking so much better now and ready for my next chapter!  I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off-site and learning a lot!  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I’m available to meet.         • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and was hesitant but interested in them, I even did a play bow, so I may be playing soon.  If you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no very young kids that I may bump over or that may pull on my ears as they are sensitive or hug me which I may see as restraint.   • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The volunteers describe me as a friendly, super playful, and smart guy who’s sweet as can be and truly a very good boy. I’ve been a calm, loving senior with great manners who listens well and enjoys being close to the nice volunteers. I’m especially good for my medicated showers - I stay calm and sweet, even lifting my paws for massages and rinsing. A walk-in shower with a sprayer is just my style as I don’t want to get in a tub, and I enjoy the gentle massage that comes with it.  I can be a little head shy at first, but after a few days I learn I can trust you and then I’m happy to enjoy gentle head pets. / Energy Level: 4-6.       • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I expect to be a Mostly Mutts University graduate very soon!  So far, I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and accept nice strangers without jumping.  I look forward to learning even more. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / I’m doing really well with my potty manners on the shelter schedule with very few accidents.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love spending time with the nice volunteers, playing with my toys (and I’ll happily drop them for a treat!), and getting scratches - I can never get enough!  I’m a big fan of tough toys since I tend to make quick work of the soft ones, but that’s okay because the hard toys are my absolute favorites anyway!  I’m sure we’ll find lots of other things we will enjoy doing together in my new home. / I’m not a fan of those pesky eye drops and can be reactive to them, so talk to my trainer for tips.  I also don’t like to be restrained during my vetting, so I wear a muzzle to help things go smoothly, and my trainer is helping me build confidence and comfort with it.  Otherwise, like all dogs I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.   • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I had a good dental cleaning, so my mouth is fresh again!  I’m having my ears rechecked/remedicated the week of Jan 12th and Mostly Mutts will pay for that with their vet.  I have dry eyes and need Cyclosporine eye drops daily.  I have been reactive to receiving the drops, so my trainer will be glad to talk to you about administering them successfully.  I’m still receiving medicated baths as my skin and fur continue to improve and those can be done in my new home in a shower setting. I take an allergy/itch medication called Zenrelia to help with my skin, too.  I’m a wonderful fellow looking to soak up the good life with my new family and to be well taken care of since that was lacking in my former home/situation.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  February 2, 2026, 9:16 am

Story
A WONDERFUL FRIEND:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 46 lbs. Hi, my name is Wilson!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and am enjoying my time with the volunteers, who take great care of me, but nothing will beat a home and family of my own.  I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off-site learning a lot and having fun!  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them a lot, so if you have dogs at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a friendly, fun, and happy guy with a playful, goofy, and sweet personality who is full of love.  I have so much happy enthusiasm to share, and I did great during my bath, too - I even drank from the sprayer and handed out kisses.  I’ve shown a little food guarding in the past, but it’s been very mild and is well managed after working with my trainer, so please just ask about it.  I’m a loving, affectionate boy who can’t wait to brighten your days. / Energy Level: 7-9. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm enrolled in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners using my EZ walk harness as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  I look forward to learning more.  / The crate is not my favorite place, so I do some whining in there, but I am currently working on my crate manners in the prison/foster training program.  Check back soon to see my progress!  / My potty habits are improving on a good schedule in the prison/foster training program.  Please keep me on a consistent schedule, so that I can fully master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love playing with toys, especially tennis balls, and I never say no to a peanut butter treat.  I’ve destuffed a few toys and shredded a blanket, so please just watch me with these items.  Chin scratches are the best, and they always make my tail wag!  At the end of the day, being with my people is really what I’m after.  / I can’t think of any dislikes yet, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I recently started an inexpensive anxiety medication to help with some shelter stress that I’m experiencing.  Hopefully I will no longer need it once I’ve settled into my new home. I’m a wonderful pup looking for a wonderful family to love and be loved by!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  February 2, 2026, 9:16 am

Story
AN ACTIVE & FUN FRIEND:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 32 lbs. Hi, my name is Victor!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am so happy to be soaking up all the love and attention from the volunteers.  They are here every day to be sure I am a happy, healthy guy ready to meet my new family.  Well, that time has come, and I am ready for my ‘happily ever after’.  Come meet me soon!  I got to participate in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and do not like them, so I’d like to be your only dog. / Cats unknown. / I met a nice boy and a girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and I was a bit all over them in a happy & excited way – being a bit mouthy and chasing them when they ran, so kids 15+ may be a better match for me.  Let’s meet!  Also, it would be best that kids do not walk me due to my strength and dislike for other dogs. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a super active and fun guy with a friendly and playful demeanor.  My affectionate nature has charmed the volunteers, and they refer to me as ‘a super sweet boy’.  In fact, my whole-body wags with excitement when I know it’s my turn to spend time with them.  I can get a little mouthy when I’m excited, and that playful behavior has occasionally resulted in some unintentional, never-to-be-mean skin grabs. I’m very easy to redirect, and the trainers will happily show you the techniques that work with me.  Social, loving and energetic, I’d be happiest with an owner that matches my energy level and has time to be active with me. / My energy level is 6-8+, so let’s be active and have fun together! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners using my gentle leader as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  I also know some silly commands such as ‘bang bang’ and I ‘play dead’.  / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts as well as in a temp. foster home I visited. / I had good potty habits in the prison/foster training program, as well as in two temp. fosters home I visited, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too!   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love people and enjoy any activity with them – the more activity the better!  Affectionate and loving, I also put energy into giving kisses, cuddles and happy tail wags, and I’m a big fan of belly rubs and playing with toys.  I love to get my energy out by playing with tennis balls in the play yard with the volunteers. I could play fetch for hours!  / I don’t care for other dogs or thunder and I’m not too sure about motorcycles passing so perhaps a quieter walking area would be nice. I can’t think of any other dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I have experienced a few allergy flare-ups and Mostly Mutts has recently started me on an allergy medication called Zenrelia to help with that. Just ask about this to see how it’s working for me.  I have luxating patellas in my rear legs which do not require surgery at this time.  At times I limp, but I don’t let it slow me down as I’m very active, just ask about this!  I am looking for a wonderful home with a loving family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.   I am looking for a wonderful home with a loving family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 24, 2025, 7:24 am

Story
A HANDSOME YOUNG FELLOW:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 58 lbs. Hi, I’m Blake, but I answer to the name Churro (please refer to Blake though when inquiring about me as that’s the name my records are under). I was rescued by Mostly Mutts from animal control and was adopted for a few months. Unfortunately, my family’s parents became ill, and they needed to focus on caring for them, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts to find a new loving family and I can’t wait to meet them!  I’m in a wonderful foster home while I wait.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I get along very well with the other dogs I’ve met that were my size or larger, and I love playing with my foster sibling.  I can be a bit enthusiastic when I play, taking toys from other dogs, etc. as I’m still learning my boundaries! I’d do best with a dog who would enjoy a playful, rough-and-tumble style of play and won’t mind if I take their toy. A proper introduction will help set us up for success! / Cats unknown though I do have a strong prey drive. / I haven’t met kids yet, but I believe older kids would be best as I can be playfully mouthy, so if you have kids like this, let’s meet.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a super fun and adorable pup who’s a little timid and fearful when it comes to new things (see the dislikes section below) - but give me some time and patience, and you’ll see my friendly, curious side shine through. I’m a sweetheart who likes to build trust first, so please skip the head pats until we know each other better. When I’m unsure or afraid,  I duck my head a little or flatten my body out. Once I feel safe, I’ll stay right by your side, quiet, attentive, and full of love. I promise I’ll be so worth it – my foster reports that I’m truly a total doll! I’m thankful that I’m in a great foster home as the shelter environment was scary for me. / Energy level: 6-8, so I’d like to be active with my new family. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m looking for a dog-savvy, patient and experienced owner who enjoys training their dog and bonding through learning! I already know several commands like ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘up’, ‘jump’, and ‘place’, and I’ve got great door and food manners - I’ll wait politely until I’m told it’s time to eat with the ‘break’ command. I’m smart and eager to learn, though my recall needs work so don’t let me off leash unless we’re in our fenced yard, and I’m working on my leash manners now. With patience, consistency, and love, I’ll thrive with someone who enjoys guiding me and helping me reach my full potential. (Oh, and I do tend to pick things up to eat on walks, so keep an eye on me!) / In my foster home I do very well in my crate and know the command “go to bed.” I relax quietly, especially if I have something to chew on. If I get bored, I might tear up a blanket or pillow, so it’s best not to leave me unsupervised for too long until I’ve earned that trust. I also get to go to work with my foster and do well in my crate there, too. / I’m doing well with my potty training! I let my people know most of the time when I need to go out, but sometimes I get a little too excited playing and forget – oops! I haven’t had any #2 accidents in my foster home, but I do try to snack on that – sorry about that.  My fosters just pick it up quickly since I’m a regular morning pooper and there are chewable deterrents that you could try over the counter that may help.   • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love belly rubs, playing tug, going on hikes and walks, and, of course, tearing up stuffies and squeaky toys! I have a blast playing with the other dogs, chewing on antlers (and pretty much anything else I can find), and enjoying healthy snacks. But my favorite thing of all? Just being with my people! / I can be nervous and fearful around certain things like loud noises, fast movements, or unusual objects such as bikes, strollers, or umbrellas - but I’m learning that they’re not so scary! Big crowds can overwhelm me, but I’ve done well in calmer public places like restaurants and stores that allow dogs. With patience and gentle encouragement, I know I’ll keep getting braver.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I should eat from a slow feeder bowl as I eat much too quickly and get a tummy ache.  I’m looking for a wonderful dog smart family to love and be loved by! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  January 31, 2026, 9:32 am
