Story
We have so many great dogs in our program, but Brandy, with her tiny quotation mark ears, is one who has really grabbed our hearts. She is fiercely loyal and so, so smart. She adores treats and tennis balls. Brandy has been waiting years for a home, largely because she needs the right fit. And adult home with a strong routine would be optimal. She loves playing fetch and is excellent at it. Brandy is a tripod, but she has no idea she has any limitations, so please, please don't tell her she is any different from any other playful, graceful, athletic dog. Brandy tanked rather miserably on her cat test and isn't a fan of other dogs. She also needs an adult home, preferably with someone who can work with her and help her continue to adjust to life outside of the shelter. She's currently in a foster home and doing wonderfully, but really wants to find a home of her own.

Story
Our sweet, watchful Daisy is still looking for her hero. She's incredibly loyal and adores her human, especially the animal care staff and volunteers who take care of her. She has been an easy guest-- polite, relaxed and a gentle-walker on leash. Daisy was rescued by some Good Samaritans, who asked PAWS Atlanta for help with finding her a lasting home. She is deaf, so caring for her requires a bit of flexibility. New people and other animals can overwhelm her easily, likely because she can't hear. However, she's smart and eager to learn new skills. She loves treats and belly rubs. Daisy needs to be the only dog in her home. Although she's okay with seeing other dogs walking off in the distance at the shelter, she does not want them close to her. Daisy would be a really good fit for someone who is relaxed and friendly. She's not too active, although she does enjoy playing games and going for walks. If you would like to meet Daisy, send is an adoption application and we'll make it happen!

Story
Meet Maggie, a furry, fun energizer bunny who craves a stable and routine-filled home with plenty of space to stretch her legs. She's the life of the party and loves getting in on the action, but when she's done, she'll snuggle right up and keep your couch warm. This cutie is a quick learner and can't resist a good treat. She's a pro on the leash and would be thrilled to join you on long walks, hikes, or even a morning jog. Plus, her active lifestyle makes her a pawsome candidate for agility. When she's not burning off energy, she enjoys solving doggie puzzles and going on snif-faris. While she wasn't too sure about other dogs at first, Maggie has made huge strides in making furry friends. However, she can be a bit picky, so we'd be happy to set up a meet-and-greet with your current pup to see if they're a match made in doggy heaven. Age: 2 years   Weight: 45 lbs  Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative Temperament: Learning to socialize with other dogs; great with people; best with sturdy older kids; not good with cats. Training: Housetrained, crate trained.  For questions about Maggie, email  eshighley@me.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. May 7, 2024, 3:06 pm

Story
Penny is a sweet and gentle old lady.  She is very good with dogs and kids and is very low energy.  She walks best on carpeting or hardwoods with a lot of area rugs that offer her stability.  She does well in the car but needs help getting in and out.  She still has some spunk and will play for 5 minutes but then she wants to chill. She enjoys short walks but she is fine just wandering in the back yard also.  She stays loose in the house and has never been crated.  Her foster leaves for work for 8.5 hours everyday.  She is non-destructive, but she was having some stress when left alone so she is taking trazadone daily to help with this. She comes when called. She knows her name. Her hearing is not the best but she can definitely hear you. Age: 13 years  Weight: 65lbs Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative Temperament:  good with  kids, good with dogs . Story
The original owner adopted him and changed their mind almost instantly and neglected him, so I took him in to avoid any more neglect. He lost a good bit of weight before I took him in. I cannot keep him since I have other pets and a full time job as well as no time to tend to his needs, he is very sweet only a year old and loves to play and run. He is not a bad dog but had a bad owner.

Story
Addie is a fun loving, 9 year old female American bulldog/Staff Terrier mix. She's around 45 lbs, with a short and stocky build. She's spayed, housebroken and current on shots. Addie brings so much goofy, happy energy to her home. She LOVES walks, rolling around in the grass and you may catch her playing in the water sprinkler on hot days. She will even sit in your lap to be petted if you let her. Addie is pretty easy to care for. She has been the only dog but should do ok in a home with a sweet, non-dominant male dog. Addie will also do great as the only pet, where she can get ALL the love!        April 25, 2024, 12:01 am

Rose is a 10 year old, female American Bulldog/Staff Terrier mix, around 55 lbs. Rose is the friendliest, sweetest girl with such a pure heart of gold! She's outgoing, loving and very people oriented. She also LOVES, LOVES other dogs! She’s ALWAYS happy and has a great attitude.  Rose longs to have a home of her own as an older girl and would be so lucky to have another dog to play with or at least get to have doggie playdates with friends. This girl has the best personality and is excited to be around pretty much anyone. She loves meeting new people! Rose is completely house trained and fully vetted.  April 25, 2024, 12:01 am

IZZY - PURE AMERICAN BULLDOG FEMALE, ~ 3 YRS. OLD Temporary Foster Home Needed - 4 weeks (Month of May '24) METRO ATLANTA AREA Beautiful short video on a hearing-impaired dog adopted after 3 years (below) https://www.facebook.com/share/r/r8jPAmD4r1fk7f2n/?mibextid=UalRPS Bonds Easily to her human; easy to keep; low exercise; entertains herself. See how adorable/funny Izzy is w-this 25-second video (copy/paste in browser)!   https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1lxJHPXrfPQ    You will fall in LOVE WITH THIS GIRL :  Obedient, Well Trained, Walks well on a Leah, Loves the Car, Playful - a Real Comedy Routine, too! Izzy is a stunning short, squat, pure bred American Bulldog; now 4 years old and weighs 46lbs. As a tiny sick pup, she was first dumped at a high kill shelter in Bullock County, GA, and was adopted by a person that discovered she was deaf, as many white bull dogs are, when home, and because she was a messy and sick pup, dumped her again! Our rescue took her in, fully vetted her (she is perfectly healthy, heartworm negative, spayed and all vaccinations); Her deafness is NO issue; she is like any other dog; understands easy hand signals and facial expressions: SIT; STAY, COME, LEAVE IT, ETC.  SO Easy to Keep! Initially our rescue adopted her to a family with one other dog (a male) and was a vet!  Izzy was doing great! BUT two years later, the living situation changed - more dogs, a baby, elderly parents, chaos!  Uug, TOO much for Izzy, too stressed, she didn’t like the female dogs, but loved the male dog, and all the people! BEST HOME:  Low Energy Stable Home with people who love to give her all the attention; snuggle with her, fenced yard; large male dog would be great or ok if ONLY dog; no cats. Izzy is now living with foster (loves her) who cannot keep her any longer and cannot adopt. Note: Life with Izzy is no different than with a hearing dog. Just like her "hearing dog" peers, she plays, follows your hand signals, which we use with hearing dogs (hand signals) - so no different! She's SO WELL BEHAVED!  Izzy will bring so much joy to you as she's that awesome and special! Story
Please contact ADOPTION (adopt@doggieharmony.org) for more information about this pet.Hi, I'm Milton and I'm being fostered by a dog trainer who's getting me ship-shape for the lucky people who adopt me. I love to play with toys or just hang out in the backyard with you. My foster mom says I look like a gremlin when I run around the yard, probably because of a big scar across my back. I don't talk about that -- it's in the past and I'm looking forward to a bright future with you! I do like the security of having my own private den (aka crate), especially when you must be away from home or if I eat in the company of other dogs. I may bark a little when you leave, so apartments, townhomes, or condos probably won't work because not all neighbors are understanding. The best part of me is that my foster mom will provide two FREE training sessions to make sure I settle in just perfectly to my new pad. Free training and a laid-back dude like me as your BFF -- that's a deal, right? Age: 2-3 years Weight: 65 lbs Temperament: Prefers calm, routine home and female dogs of the same size. Requires calm/older kids and sturdy adult handlers. Training: House trained, crate trained, knows commands, good off-leash Vetting: neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative. Questions: Schelby.Stuckey@gmail.com Adoption Fee: Waived; vet reference, background, and home check required. Story
Meri desperately needs a foster or forever home! Meri is a sweet, affectionate goober of a Boxer mix that was saved from being euthanized at Dekalb Animal Control. She has been in a temp foster home and we're trying to keep her from going back to the pound.   She is 2 years old, and she loves to play. She also loves people and wants to please. Meri’s happy to follow you around and hang out wherever you are. She’s been through a lot, and we've been working with her to build her confidence and reassurance after being abandoned. She's thriving in her foster home and gaining more and more confidence.   She loves dogs and she loves cars. You don't have to ask her twice to take a car ride. She plays hard and respects when another dog tells her to back off but sometimes, she'll come back again in case they changed their mind and want to play. If she lives with another dog, it would be best if that dog is playful like her.   She is shy and timid with new people, and she will bark at them initially. If you ignore her, she stops barking pretty quickly and then she wants to be your best friend. She would benefit from a compassionate foster or adopter that would help her know she is safe. She makes friends for life, so once she meets you, you’re in. She thrives in a home with a routine. She would make a great running, walking, hiking partner and has no problem keeping up.   She is so sweet. She is housetrained and crate trained and goes in her crate easily. She likes to have some toys in her crate when she has to be in there. She has no food or toy guarding issues and she is non-destructive. She is very affectionate and eager to please and she loves snuggles. She is very treat/food motivated and takes food gently from your hand. She is very easy to train. Please consider giving this sweet girl a chance. Thank you!   Age: 2 years   Weight: 48 lbs Temperament: Gets along with all adults and older respectful kids, dogs around her size.  Training: House trained and Crate-trained. Vetting: Spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention.   For questions about Maizie, please email,   aimiablepetcare@aol.com.  &#226&#128&#139To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review.
