Story
·Intake Reason: Transfer from MADACC·Weight: Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Unknown ·Kids: Unknown ·Personality: ActiveGreetings, my name is Freya; that name means ‘lady' and I am hoping to be your precious little lady. When I was a young and crazy pup, I came to WCHS from MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission) where I was a stray. I was adopted and lived with a person for about 6 months. There were a couple other pooches in my home and we got along fine and had fun when food or goodies like bones were not around. But if we were in the same room during mealtime, tensions got high and I felt I had to guard my goods. In order to keep peace in the house, my people decided it was best for me to come back to WCHS to find a home that might be a better fit for me. I am fine sharing valuable resources with people, just not other canines; this girl simply appreciates a little privacy when I am eating. I am a friendly and affectionate gal who may just fit on your lap since I weigh only 58 pounds; who wouldn't love extended snuggle sessions. In my previous home I was comfortable in a crate when I was alone so that I did not have to manage the whole house by myself; I could rest and relax in my comfy cozy little den. At bedtime, though, I got to share the bed with my person and that was fabulous. In my previous home I never had to develop a signal to let my person know I had to go outside because I was on a consistent and regular schedule. I have good house-training skills but still think it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities to get outside until I understand the household routine; maybe I could even work on a nifty signal. I am an active lass who enjoys playing fetch and had a great time romping in my fenced yard. I do like to play with other pooches (as long as there is no food around); my mates do need to understand that I am a high-octane rough player who likes to have fun. I love car rides, Jollyballs and kiddie pools to splash around in on warm summer days. I am smart and like to learn; I already know the cues for ‘sit', ‘stay', ‘place/bed' and ‘gentle'. It would be lovely if we could take some classes together; perhaps we can practice obedience, rally, nose work, dog parkour or fun canine sports. I hope you stop by to make my acquaintance because I would love to meet you and start down the path of life together.#2

Story
·Intake Reason: Surrendered owner passed away; Adopted for 1 month & returned due to aggression towards a friend's dog·Weight: 65 lbs.WCHS has observed that Cocoa loves people very much but can sometimes be possessive of her human. What does that mean? It means Cocoa would do best in a single person's home where she can have her person all to herself. When visitors arrive, maintaining Cocoa's best behavior can be easily managed. WCHS will include a free consultation to help learn this management!Known with:·Cats: lived with a 15 yr old neutered male·Dogs: Previously lived with 5 yr old neutered male APBTx and plays in WCHS playgroups well; Would do best as the only dog in the home.·Kids: Unknown·Personality: AffectionateGreetings, my name is Cocoa and I am a friend to all. I had a lovely life with a person for a couple of years where I lived with my good buddy, Ranger, and even a senior kitty-cat. Unfortunately, my person passed away so the whole gang came to WCHS to search for a new home. I used to have a great time playing with Ranger but he recently found his new forever home; I adore him so I am very happy for him. I also love to go on walks and explore the fabulous world around us. I do need a little practice with polite leash walking because I get so happy and excited that I pull a bit. When it comes to manners, I was so polite and respectful of my person's things that I was allowed to roam freely about the house when I was alone. Although I had a comfy pet bed in my previous home, I had the opportunity to sleep with my human in their bed and that was grand. I am an affectionate lovebug so cuddling all night long was quite a treat. In my previous home I knew to go to the door and whine a bit to ask to go outside. When I get to my new home, we will need to figure out each other's signals and routines; until then I will need plenty of opportunities to go outside to use the facilities. I have been described as friendly, playful, quiet and gentle; I am a big fan of car rides and enjoy a rousing game of fetch. I am a wiggle-butt with loads of love to give and I promise to be loyal to you forever. Stop by and ask to meet Cocoa, I think we will have a magnificent life together.#1

**Ziba is being adopted out from her foster home, where she's learning sign language! Please call WCHS to set up an appointment if you are interested in meeting with her.**· Intake Reason: surrendered, owner was unable to care forKnown with:· Cats: lived with 2 cats, and liked to play with them· Dogs: went to dog parks previously, does well in WCHS playgroups; is in foster with multiple dogs· Kids: exposed to various ages· Personality: AffectionateGreetings, my name is Ziba and I am 40-pounds of special. My name means ‘beautiful' and I think that is very fitting because I am enchanting. My world is very quiet because I am deaf. Since I cannot hear commands, people have been using hand signals to communicate with me; I know the signal for ‘sit' and ‘good girl'. Because I could not hear you calling after me, I will be counting on you to keep me safe and out of trouble. I know that some folks who have a deaf pooch in the family use a vibration collar (no shock, please) to let the dog know you want their attention. I also appreciate it when humans do not sneak up on me or surprise me. In my previous home I had the luxury of roaming about freely when I was alone and also got to share my person's bed at night; that was fabulous. When I needed to go outside, I would sit by the door. When I first come into my new home it would be wise to watch me carefully and also give me plenty of opportunities to get outside to use the facilities. I must confess I am still working on becoming 100% when it comes to house-training. Lots of yummy treats and praise should help me develop that skill. I am a tolerant gal but I have a tendency to get overstimulated, so it would be great if we could work on some settle exercises. I am a smart lass and think it is important to keep my brain busy and engaged so I have been happy with all the enrichment I get at the shelter. I do enjoy romping with other dogs and am sort of a rough player but prefer not to share my toys with them; a girl has got to draw the line somewhere. I enjoy car rides and would love to be your sidekick as we go on many adventures together. I am friendly and outgoing but do prefer a slow and polite introduction to folks I do not know. Give me a few minutes and a couple tasty tidbits and soon we will be BFFs. I hope you stop by to meet me in person; I think it is lovely to increase my circle of friends and we could have a magnificent life together.#2

Story
Shrek is a gentle, loving sweetheart who’s ready to fill your home with JOY! His journey started in a lonely field outside a rural Texas town, where he was found alone and starving. Despite his rough start, Shrek's spirit remains unbroken, and he’s eager to find his forever family. Shrek is a laid-back guy who gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is great with kids. He’s curious about cats but always respectful around them. Diagnosed with Methemoglobinemia, Shrek doesn't let his condition define him. Instead, he focuses on sharing his affectionate nature and playful spirit with everyone he meets! This easygoing boy is crate trained and housebroken, making him an ideal companion for first time dog owners and families. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and loves to be part of a family. The veterinarians are confident he will live a long and happy life, and he’s ready to bring endless love and loyalty to a home that will cherish him. Shrek has overcome so much and is ready to start the next chapter of his life with a family who will love him as much as he loves them. Are you ready to give Shrek the forever home he deserves? Gemma is 3-4 years old, and 35 pounds. She’s really the best girl ever, extremely good with other dogs/cats. She still is full of puppy energy if you can get her going, but doesn’t mind playing the role of couch potato and cuddle bug as well. She is vocal in letting you know when she needs to go out. Gemma can be left alone for 4-8 hours. She’s very spunky with a playful, loving personality and I would love her to go to a wonderful home.

Story
4-year-old Clyde is described as truly amazing by his foster mom. Despite his past, he is thriving and enjoying life to the fullest. His simple desires include a bowl of food, water, a comfortable bed, and belly rubs. He's been trained to wait patiently for his meals and to go outside only when given the signal. Although he still struggles with excitement-induced jumping, he's making progress. Notably, he recently greeted his foster dad by sitting instead of jumping, albeit wiggling with excitement. Clyde's gentle nature shines through when interacting with children, instinctively understanding the need to be delicate around them. He even follows commands from a two-year-old, earning treats and laughter in return. Remarkably, he shows no interest in chasing animals while indoors and is learning to respond to recall commands outdoors without pulling on his lead. However, his immense strength warrants caution around those who may not be able to handle it. In various situations, Clyde displays impeccable behavior, from resisting the temptation of food left unattended to interacting peacefully with other dogs. He's particularly fond of playing with his owner's son's dog and even took a nap on her bed. Despite never being confined to the crate provided, Clyde stays contentedly behind a baby gate when left alone. He shows no interest in the items in the spare room, demonstrating his exceptional demeanor. Overall, Clyde's foster mom struggles to fully articulate just how remarkable he truly is, emphasizing his love for life and those who love him in return.

Story
This is Moose. He is a 6 yr old Pit Bull mix. He is such a sweet boy who enjoys cuddles, walks, long long naps, and stuffies. Unfortunately I can no longer keep him anymore and want him to go to the best home. He would do best being the only animal in the house due to his past. He does GREAT with people and kids. Only problem you’ll have to worry about with people is the fact that he does not know what personal space is. He knows how to make bad days good, put a smile on your face and give kisses like his life depends on it. Never a bad day with this big guy around.

Story
Nyla was a rescue, someone left her outside at 8 weeks old. I took her to the vet to get her checked out and I’ve had her ever since. She is now almost 4 years old. She is very sweet. She gives lots of kisses and she is very attentive to the family. I need to rehome Nyla because I recently had a baby and she is starting to act out a bit by having multiple accidents in the house. I would like her to go to a home that is full of love and that is very active. She needs lots of attention and a healthy lifestyle.
