Meet Dewey PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. Hi there! My name is Dewey and I am 50% chihuahua and 50% land seal! 30 pounds at 1.5 years old, housebroken and crate trained-really just the perfect dog. Don't you love my Gorgeous Blue Coloring? What does that mean you ask? Well it means I am a bundle of lovable energy! I do get nervous in new places and meeting new people but once I am comfortable I come right out of my shell and become a lovable, wiggly boy who wants nothing more than to entertain you! I like to chew toys, play fetch, cuddle and laze around in the sun. I also love running and doing zoomies (had surgery on two bad knees, they are better than they have ever been and I can run like the wind). I am going to be a pocket rocket! I'm also very gentle at eating out of the palm of your hand. Land seals are herd creatures so my ideal family will have another dog around my size to play and run with or smaller, or I will be fine in a home without other dogs being the center of your attention. Dewey knows many commands including sit, down, drop it, and stay and is super loving. Loves fetch, is housebroken and very loving, loves to go for long walks. He will be initially nervous with other animals and will need a slow introduction and has lived with other dogs most of his life (the cat in the current foster home scares him). Watch this sweet boy's videos Dewey gets the zoomies... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6x6gf3Yuze8 Dewey is such a good smart boy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scogUNyHOXc Dewey loves to fetch... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq9Gc5E4B2Y APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) The adoption fee is $425, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. . All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment.

Story
Jaxxon is a handsome 2 year old pup with a sweet and smart disposition. Despite sometimes believing he's a cat and attempting to fit into cat beds (LOL), he's well-behaved when his foster is around but may get into mischief when left alone for long periods outside of the crate. He barks at guests when they first arrive at his foster home, but friendly and welcoming of  them when properly introduced through his people. Jaxxon is excellent with other animals and children (just wants to play!), though he may chase cats if they run, but stops when his name is called and if a cat swats at him, he will walk away. He is not dominant when meeting other dogs, he’s pretty submissive. Introducing him to the household dogs and cats was very easy.   He's obedient, house-trained, crate-trained, and knows basic commands. Regular exercise is crucial to prevent boredom and destructive behavior. Gentle with his affection, Jaxxon enjoys being near his people, but doesn't demand lying on the couch. He is very affectionate, but he knows how to be gentle with affection. He will sit and just let you pet him, he doesn't have to be all over you. He’s crate-trained and enjoys sleeping on clean blankets in there. He’s a snorer! His favorite pastimes include lounging, chewing toys, and occasional bursts of energy. Jaxxon adores men and children, but tends to jump, so a family with kids aged 10+ would be ideal.   DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake.***MOST OF OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN TEXAS, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Story
4 Year old Trina is the epitome of happiness on four legs. One of her favorite activities is giving play bows – she's always up for a game of chase or fetch in the yard! And when she's really excited, she'll prance around with pure delight, her tail wagging a mile a minute. But Trina's sweetness extends far beyond her playful antics. She's incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than cuddling up with her favorite humans. Don't be surprised if she tries to convince you that she's a lap dog – she's got a heart as big as her love for snuggles! This smart girl is a quick learner and is already a pro at walking nicely on a leash. Plus, she's very treat motivated, which makes training sessions a breeze. She's mastered the "sit" command and is eager to learn more tricks to impress her new family. Trina's gentle nature and friendly demeanor make her a hit with everyone she meets. She just wants to be by your side, soaking up all the love and attention you have to give. Whether you're going for a leisurely stroll in the park or relaxing at home, Trina is happiest when she's with her humans. If you're searching for a loyal companion who will fill your days with laughter, love, and endless cuddles, look no further than Trina. Welcome this bundle of joy into your life! Adopt Trina and let the love story begin. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Tess is 3yo, weighs 62lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, is microchipped, and is house-and-crated trained.  Tess does not like taking pills; therefore, her guardian recommends a topical flea/tick treatment. Tess can sit, but doesn't stay and she responds to her name.  Scratch Incidents:  Tess inadvertently and without malice stepped on her guardian's toe, resulting in a scratch and on another occasion scratched her leg to garner attention.  Guardian states she should've adequately clipped her nails.  The scratches didn't break the skin, animal control was not involved, and medical treatment was unwarranted. Tess's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Tess's guardian is moving out of state and cannot take her.  Tess's guardian offers a brief medical history:  "She hurt her leg once about a year ago, she was running and stepped wrong.  The vet said it was a bruised ligament and she healed with just rest." Tess's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Tess lives with children, ages 11 and 15, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children, stating "She does not recognize her size and will run up to anyone to say hello".  Tess's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Tess hasn't lived with other dogs, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "She barks but does not approach, but has only ever been in the house or in a fenced yard with no other animals".  Tess's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Tess lives with a cat, but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "I have a cat and the cat avoids the dog.  The dog does not seek out the cat".  Tess's guardian describes her as: Couch potato Barks alot Playful Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side Indoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Separation anxiety Tess's guardian describes her ideal future home: "A home where she can be with her person as much as possible. She has eaten every bed, blanket, crate pad that she's ever had. And yes I mean EATEN, not chewed! The dog has a stomach of steel. She would prob love a fenced yard, we dont have one so we use our neighbor's yard occasionally.  She is definitely an indoor dog. She does not like the rain, at all!"
