Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sarabi is a beautiful girl who has been in rescue far too long.  She is not a perfect young lady, however, I know she is perfect for someone. Hello, my name is Sarabi.  My foster momma named me that because she says I am a beautiful Queen (even though she picked me up from the local pound when I was only 6 months old). I have been in foster for a long time... my foster momma loves me lots and I love her.  I was diagnosed when I was just over a year old as having congenital luxating patellas.  Basically my knees weren't working properly and that caused a cruciate ligament tear to both of my back legs.  I have had successful surgeries to both and have fully recuperated. My legs work well for walks and play, but like humans who have surgeries like this, I have arthritis in both and just need some supplements and sometimes some medicine for swelling and pain (not very much). I love my humans so much that I do not want to share them with any other pet.  I want them and their space to myself.  I am reactive towards other dogs, comes off as aggression, but I truly want to play.  My foster mommy can take me on walks with other dogs because I can redirect pretty well at her command and we stay at a little distance. I cannot live with any other animal though, or go to dog parks, or socialize with other dogs at public or private places.  I need my humans to love me as much as I love them. I like to bark at squirrels and cats. I am loving to every human.  My foster momma says that I am too happy!  I do jump on people and when really excited I do mouth.  Small kids may get hurt around me, but I wouldn't mean to.  I would love to be with people who will make me feel like their very own.  I love to walk, play in the yard with my jolly ball toys (and momma), and to lounge on my Kuranda bed while mom does yard work.  Don't start the mower thingy or the weed whipper thing with me in the yard though... they drive me bezerk! When you leave for work, I must be put in my kennel.  Don't be sad, it is to keep me safe and to make sure that I don't get into anything you dont want me to.  I am good in there... and when you get home, I will be soooooo happy to see you!  I have other stuff I know I should write, but momma says to take a break cuz the tears keep coming.  Please do NOT put in an application for me unless you can promise no other animals, and no little children can live with me.  Please also know that I will need a yard with a fence... must be fully fenced.  It is so I cannot get out and hurt any other animal... please promise to keep me safe and loved forever!  That is the most important of all. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Midnight Lagoon found himself unwanted in a  high kill shelter in West Texas. He is good with other dogs and kids, cats are unknown.  All dogs and puppies require supervision and training.  Midnight Lagoon is a big knucklehead. He's sweet as can be but can sound a little rough. He's very vocal when he plays and that might put off some dogs. He looks like a tough guy but he's just one big sweetie pie. He loves to snuggle, give kisses, get belly rubs, and he's very, very smart. His life started out a little rough He's got the scars to show it. He is human selective and dog reactive but can go on to be best friends given slow introductions.  His best friend is his foster sister and he really wants to be friends with his bigger foster brother, but his big brother doesn't really want to have much to do with him. Midnight is a food snob who prefers his dry kibble to be complimented with wet food or gravy.  Midnight is making strides everyday. He's great on walks in low traffic times and areas. He's working on his reactivity and getting desensitized in many different situations. He would do best with another dog (after slow intros) who doesn't mind his vocal play because doesn't like to be alone. He loves stuffy toys and chew toys. He's still learning how to dog everyday and is looking for his human to love.  Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 3, 2023, 4:48 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Odella found herself unwanted at a high kill shelter in West Texas along with her siblings and momma, Mella Bella. She is good with other dogs and kids, cats are unknown.   All dogs and puppies require supervision and training.    If a night of snacks, sitcoms, and snuggling is your thing- I might be the perfect match for you!   My hobbies include lounging in the sun, playing with treat puzzles, and curiously watching every little thing going on around me ( I don’t want to miss a thing). My favorite thing to do is lay by my fosters mom chair and let her know with my cute bark that I will protect her from any cat I see (on tv or in person). Although I am a very shy girl at first, treats are a sure fire way to win me over. I prefer to sleep in my kennel at night. We are working on potty training, and my foster mom says that I am a pro at letting you know when it is time to go outside. I am looking for a home of my own, where i can be the center of attention and acclimate at my own pace. I currently live with my foster family that includes human kids of all ages, my sister Nutella, and their resident dog, so to say things are busy is an understatement, and I’m not always so sure if I like the fast pace. Priority will go to applicant who can bring to vet visit in the Twin Cities Metro, MN. Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 3, 2023, 4:48 pm

Fortunately he had a foster interested in helping spring him from jail. He is a friendly boy eager to make your acquaintance.  Matzo did well with the other dogs he tested with at impound. He went to doggy dycare and was alo uper excited to have friends to play with. However he has shown some significant interest in the foster cat so a feline free home would be best.  Matzo was thrilled to be out of the shelter environment and in a home that after a good meal and bath he crashed on his foster bed until morning when he woke up and asked to be let outside. Matzo is a smart cookie as well; he already knows how to sit, lay down and shake. He is all set to make you deal with being his new best friend. He is learning his crate and that being home alone is ok, it is only for a little bit.He is doing well with leash walking and is definitely a snuggler.  He is talkative when he plays and that is all boxer.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   or     *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.//     Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.org Adoption Fee: $450 plus taxI’m not one to brag, but my foster family says I’m amazing and will be a great pet. Our first fewdays together were a bit rough, though. Everything was new and scared me, so I cowered ortried to hide. But I’m settling in just fine as we’ve developed some trust. I even play with myfoster brother and the family cat for hours! There are three little dogs on the other side of thebackyard fence, and I’ve sniffed but haven’t barked at them. I like to eat, even things I shouldn’t.(I don’t eat shoes but move them around.) Still, I should be watched until I learn what’s safe toeat. I love attention and playing and going out for walks. I get excited when we see other peopleand am working hard on learning proper outside behavior. I’m a fast learner—like not countersurfing, going potty by myself in the back yard, and walking up and down stairs. And I acceptkenneling when no one is home or it’s time to sleep. See? That’s why I’m amazing and will be agreat pet for a family with school-aged or older kids. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.//     Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.org Adoption Fee $ 550 plus taxHi, I'm Mochi! My foster mom says she can already tell I'm a smart, sweet and energetic little girl! We have been working a lot on housetraining and I have learned the word 'outside' and know to go to the door when it is said. I'm sure I'll be a pro in no time! I am fully crate trained too!I know sit now and am a quick learner and love to learn! The only time I bark is when I try to get my foster sister to play with me. She's a yorkie and doesn't think I'm much fun so I try, and then leave her alone and play with my people. I would be a great friend to another dog that likes to play!   Play, food, naps and cuddles are my favorite! I love outside time, the yard is a great place for zoomies. I love to chase the ball and will throw it for myself if my foster mom gets tired of it. I like chew toys and going for walks. I'm not perfect on the leash but working on it. I love to cuddle on the couch with my foster family.  I am quite snuggly and will pause playtime for some pets and hugs. I sleep all night in my crate without any whining or barking. My foster mom even has to wake me up to take me outside early in the morning. I play hard and I sleep hard.   Oh, by the way, did I mention that I am very cute too! I mean how often do you see spots and ears like mine?      * Puppies under 5 months should not be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time to help them with potty training and socialization.   *If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.        Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   or     *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***   To meet Amy, fill out a bulldog application!  https://underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/bulldogs/ DOB:  09/01/2014 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: No Okay with cats: Dog savvy cats Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes Weight: 53 pounds Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi – my name is Amy and I am the bestest girl who cannot wait to have a home and a family of my own. I am told I am very sweet and do love to snuggle my people – even better on the couch! My hobbies include cuddling and snoozing near my people. I have a favorite spot on the couch and have perfected the skill of getting comfy. I do like to go for walks, but hey, I am a pretty bulldog girl and marathons are not my thing (once around the block will do!). I have great leash manners, but beware I can pull when I get excited and am a very strong girl! I also get super excited to sniff at other dogs I see and may just bark (and I have a loud one!) to let them know. I do great at the dog park and am learning how to play with the other dogs. When we visit the neighborhood brewery, I am a very good girl and let my people know when I need to “tap” out and get back to my comfy spot on the couch. While I get along with most dogs, sometimes I need a slow introduction, so being an only dog and the center of attention would be fine with me. I would actually prefer being an only dog so I can get all the attention I deserve! I have lived with other dogs my whole life, but recently am getting crabbier with them.   I am completely housetrained and earned more than one compliment on how good I am at waiting to go outside (I can wait all day!). And when I need to, I will just go the door and let you know (remember that bark of mine? You can’t miss me!). I do like being out in the yard - the kids in my foster home like to play fetch with me - I am amazing! We are also learning how to run through the sprinkler, but my short legs impede me from jumping so I prefer to just play with water from the hose.  Like all bullies, I am a good eater and my forever family will have to keep an eye on my diet so I stay at a healthy weight and avoid typical skin, ear and eye issues. In true bulldog form, I have some allergies and currently have a spot on my neck that can be itchy. I’m on a raw food and kibble diet and cytopoint injections have really helped and I am improving. My allergy treatments will probably need to continue and I would love to continue a raw diet to avoid skin issues. My ideal forever home would have experience with dogs that have allergies and/or bulldog experience. I do bark when left home alone or put in a crate – so it would be great if my people could be home a lot and if I lived somewhere without shared walls. Since I am an “in and out” kinda girl, a fence is great, but going out on a leash works too. I like treats and LOVE chewing on bones – hopefully my forever home has some tasty bones for me – hint hint. Oh, and beware, on occasion I have been know to do some drooling, but a few good wipes of my pretty face and I am good to go! My foster family says that I am the most snuggly and sweet girl and are excited for me to find my forever family. I can’t wait to meet you! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.  Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.  ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. I am pretty proud of myself!  I’ve come a long way since I first came here and I’ve learned so much thanks to the other dogs in my foster home, so I do require a social and confident dog in my forever home. That will help me gain confidence, get on a routine and learn all the important dog things! It does take me a while to warm up to both people and new dogs, but once I do, I am less afraid. My people are working with me on my dog skills. We started practicing walking on a leash and I freeze! But if you promise to keep practicing with me, I don’t need a fenced yard in my forever home. I am hoping you have patience while we both learn what works best for me and you. We are also working on my potty skills. I know I supposed to go outside but get a little worried, so foster mom carries me out the door and sometimes has to carry me back inside. Sometimes I get worried and do a little tinkle inside the house when I’m excited, this includes little accidents in the kennel too. I am trying my best to be brave, and I know in a calm home and full of patience we can practice together.   Everyday I am blossoming a bit more – I recently started showing interest in dog toys and foster mom was so excited! I have also started to wander around the house and not hide in my kennel. Foster mom used to have to coax me to into other areas of the house, but I am gaining some confidence by following the other dogs around. I am a timid but happy girl and would thrive in a home that has the patience to help me learn how to be the best dog I can be. My ideal forever home will be able to provide a safe space for me, has experience with shy dogs and loads of unconditional love! It may take a while, but I promise if you try your best I will too! Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs.
