Dahlia is a loving, loyal, and very goofy girl. She is always down to play with her favorite toys, a racquet ball or tennis ball, squeaky stuffed animals or a cardboard box, she just loves to play with you. She also loves to run so a yard is a must. At night after a long walk, she loves to cuddle on the couch and sleep until it’s time for bed. Dahlia was adopted July 2022 and was a little over a year old, so i think her birthday is about June 2021. She is anxious around other dogs so would need to be the only one in the house, but I think with time and training, it’s fixable. She was attacked so she is skeptical of unfamiliar dogs. She has never been around a cat so i’m not sure how she would react around them. As for children, smaller children make her nervous since they’re so close to her face and she can get a little over excited and jumpy so it’s best to have older kids in a house. Dahlia now knows sit, down, stay(sometimes), still learning “come” but she loves learning. If you feel your home might be the right place for this wonderful dog, the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt.  Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Dahlia is a 3 year old, 40 lb Cattle Dog (Red Heeler) mix. Foster mom says that Dahlia is absolutely perfect! She is such a well behaved dog and easy going. She is very shy at first and will need time to decompress in a new setting, but after a few days she will start to show her easy going personality. She LOVES people and will follow you wherever you go. Dahlia has the perfect temperament for kids, even littles. She is happy sleeping on the floor next to your bed at night. She also gets along with the dogs and cat that are in her current foster home. She is fully potty trained and can be trusted to roam the house if her people have to leave for a few hours. She loves to go on walks and does great on the leash, but be careful when introducing her to other dogs while on leash, as she does get anxious.. Other than that, she is guaranteed to be a great family dog as she is just full of love!
