Story

Daisy is a goofy, clever, loving three-year-old girl. She is the best hiking & running companion - and an avid rock-climber - but she also loves relaxing at home; she likes to make a nest out of her toys & blankets, or to snuggle up with her favourite humans. She can be shy around strangers but she melts when you give her cheese. She is house-trained, potty-trained, and crate-trained. She has never had any problems with digging, scratching, or jumping. She’s up-to-date on her vaccinations and is on heartworm/flea/tick prevention. Daisy has been a well-loved member of our family for almost her entire life, and we are devastated to have to part ways with her. She has struggled with dog reactivity and needs a home where she can be the only dog in the family; she is stressed living with our other dog, and we love her and just want her to be happy and successful, even if that means finding her a new family to love.

Astra is a 2yo 45lb Aussie/cattledog mix. She has moderate energy, and is crate trained and doing well with housebreaking, and already knows sit. She is very loyal and loving to her people, but is on the shy side and takes a brief moment to warm up to new people/places, although she is very sweet. But walks well on leash with her person and lives really well with other dogs. Tested well with cats and livestock too (just avoidant, no aggression). She’s a really great dog, just needs continued gentle confidence boosting and life experiences and adventures. Bella was bought from a breeder in Washington state 11 years ago. She was my father’s dog and my dad died 3 weeks ago. She is full of love and energy but she needs regular exercise and new things to learn. She does not like small children and our next door neighbors have 2 small kids . Also we live in Menlo Park which is not dog friendly. There are no large dog parks here so she doesn’t get much room to play ball and my mother is walking Bella 4 miles a day . If you have land, no small children, don’t drive a motorcycle, bus or skateboard she will be very happy. She’s very loving and funny. We hate to give her away but she is too physically demanding for my mom and I .

Tony is firmly in his teenage years and it shows. He is very into people and is up for pretty much anything so long as he can bound around and show off. He does well on leash, is good with other dogs, and is a complete gentleman with kids. Tony (who needs a better name, btw) came to us from a partner shelter where he was dropped off as an owner surrender. In his previous home, he was an outside dog, so he is looking for adopters that will bear with him while he learns the house rules. You know, basic things like: counters are not for dogs, please don't spill your water bowl everywhere, trash stays in the trash can etc etc. Shelter staff feel confident that once he gets into a routine with basic positive reinforcement training and learns how to dog, he will be an excellent addition to an active outdoorsy household. Because of his size, history, and the fact that he loves laying out in the sun, a home with an outdoor space would be a bonus. Very anxious in kennel, has not shown signs of aggression but very poor kennel presence and extremely high level of stress in shelter is making her behavior and mental state deteriorate further.SD02/20/24 15:12She is still lunging at kennel door. After showing her the leash she calmed down and started crying, I opened then kennel door and she went on her bed and laid down and crawled into leash loop. Able to walk and do complete handling on her. While in the volenteer room she is loose and wiggly, has zoomies but comes back and lays on lap. Unsure about others but after introducing starngers she warms up.02/07/24 14:16Dog has been placed on urgent needs rescue due to the following behaviors documented below.02/07/24 14:16 Front of kennel barking at handler. Opened gate and attempted to leash, dog tries to grab leash with mouth, I walked farther into kennel and dog backed up with stiff tail avoiding the leash. 02/06/24 09:21Lunging at kennel, barking, hackles raised, when opening kennel door `Bella` walks back and barks from far.
