Story
Daisy is a goofy, clever, loving three-year-old girl. She is the best hiking & running companion - and an avid rock-climber - but she also loves relaxing at home; she likes to make a nest out of her toys & blankets, or to snuggle up with her favourite humans. She can be shy around strangers but she melts when you give her cheese. She is house-trained, potty-trained, and crate-trained. She has never had any problems with digging, scratching, or jumping. She’s up-to-date on her vaccinations and is on heartworm/flea/tick prevention. Daisy has been a well-loved member of our family for almost her entire life, and we are devastated to have to part ways with her. She has struggled with dog reactivity and needs a home where she can be the only dog in the family; she is stressed living with our other dog, and we love her and just want her to be happy and successful, even if that means finding her a new family to love.

Story
Astra is a 2yo 45lb Aussie/cattledog mix. She has moderate energy, and is crate trained and doing well with housebreaking, and already knows sit. She is very loyal and loving to her people, but is on the shy side and takes a brief moment to warm up to new people/places, although she is very sweet. But walks well on leash with her person and lives really well with other dogs. Tested well with cats and livestock too (just avoidant, no aggression). She’s a really great dog, just needs continued gentle confidence boosting and life experiences and adventures. She will be a great companion!  Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out the adoption application:  http://www.theperfectdog.org/TPDadoptapp.doc May 10, 2024, 2:26 pm

Story
Bella was bought from a breeder in Washington state 11 years ago. She was my father’s dog and my dad died 3 weeks ago. She is full of love and energy but she needs regular exercise and new things to learn. She does not like small children and our next door neighbors have 2 small kids . Also we live in Menlo Park which is not dog friendly. There are no large dog parks here so she doesn’t get much room to play ball and my mother is walking Bella 4 miles a day . If you have land, no small children, don’t drive a motorcycle, bus or skateboard she will be very happy. She’s very loving and funny. We hate to give her away but she is too physically demanding for my mom and I .

*ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED*WEIGHT: 73lbs.Meet Tony- If you are looking for a big ol' goofball of a dog with giraffe legs and a stand out personality, look no further than our boy Tony. Tony is firmly in his teenage years and it shows. He is very into people and is up for pretty much anything so long as he can bound around and show off. He does well on leash, is good with other dogs, and is a complete gentleman with kids. Tony (who needs a better name, btw) came to us from a partner shelter where he was dropped off as an owner surrender. In his previous home, he was an outside dog, so he is looking for adopters that will bear with him while he learns the house rules. You know, basic things like: counters are not for dogs, please don't spill your water bowl everywhere, trash stays in the trash can etc etc. Shelter staff feel confident that once he gets into a routine with basic positive reinforcement training and learns how to dog, he will be an excellent addition to an active outdoorsy household. Because of his size, history, and the fact that he loves laying out in the sun, a home with an outdoor space would be a bonus. If you would like to come and meet him, feel free to call our adoptions desk or stop by during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.

Story
Meet Bailey, the resilient 6-year-old Australian Shepard whose journey began by the busy freeway junction of 85 and 101. Despite facing challenges, Bailey`s Spirit remains unbroken. With injuries on her legs and forehead, she has emerged stronger. This affectionate soul is incredibly friendly, melting hearts with her warm demeanor. While car rides and new environments might make her a bit unsure, Bailey`s true joy shines when surrounded by people. Intrigued by the feathered friends at the shelter, she shows a keen interest in chickens and ducks.

Very anxious in kennel, has not shown signs of aggression but very poor kennel presence and extremely high level of stress in shelter is making her behavior and mental state deteriorate further.SD02/20/24 15:12She is still lunging at kennel door. After showing her the leash she calmed down and started crying, I opened then kennel door and she went on her bed and laid down and crawled into leash loop. 04/04/24 13:34notes from foster:Meet Citrine, a vibrant dog bursting with energy and affection. Citrine`s zest and energy is infectious and will thrive in a home with just as much energy. While he may need some guidance in the housebreaking department, Citrine`s eagerness to learn, play and give full-body hugs more than make up for it. His endearing clumsiness never fails to bring a smile to your face, making every moment with him a delightful adventure. Already familiar with basic commands like `sit` and `down,` and fully crate trained, Citrine enjoys winding down by selecting a toy from his basket before settling into his crate for some relaxation after a day of exploration. If you`re ready to open your heart and home to a loving companion who needs patience and training, then Citrine is the perfect match for you. He`s very good with cats. I have a resident cat, and Citrine just sniffs, no shown aggression. He doesn`t lunge at stray cats in the neighborhood either
