Story
Breed: Aussie/Setter Mix Sex: Male Age: Approx. 6 Months Weight: 40 lbs Location: OH Good with other dogs: Yes, medium to large dogs Good with Cats: No Good with Kids: Over 12 years of age required Crate trained: Yes, but doesn’t love it Housebroken: Yes Health: Good Who said black dogs can’t take a good photo? This is Vader, and true to his name, he has a lot of character. Vader is approximately six months old and going through a rowdy teenage phase. Vader has had the luxury of multiple doggie friends in his foster home to play with and would benefit from being adopted into a multi-dog household. He does have a high prey drive, so cats and smaller dogs (under 25lbs) are not a good fit. Due to his unknown background with socialization as a puppy, we feel he benefits from having another dog to learn the ropes from. Vader loves to talk and make sure his family knows all of his thoughts and feelings. He would not be a good candidate for an apartment or townhouse because of this – we are sure your neighbors will love him more without his feelings being shared through a communal wall. Vader is still navigating puppyhood and will require a family dedicated to his training and helping him become the best doggie citizen. He has strong shepherd-like instincts and behaviors so we feel his best fit would be a family with previous shepherd experience. We don’t expect training to be difficult as he is a quick learner - This young dude can learn a new trick in less than a day! The ideal family will be patient and have a good understanding of dog behavior. Vader is going through a teenage phase right now and needs an owner that understands how to read his cues and work through his stubbornness. If you’re looking for a new family member to enjoy all of your adventures with, apply for Vader!

Story
Cooper is a very sweet and loyal shepherd mix. He's kind and playful, completely house-trained and knows all of his basic commands. He doesn't have any special needs and is up-to-date on his vaccinations. He loves to play when it's time, enjoys going for walks, running around outside, and playing with other dogs when he goes to the dog park. He also loves to be in the water. When inside, he typically likes to just chill out and takes lots of naps (usually right beside your feet). While we love him dearly, after lots of thinking and trying to find alternatives, we've come to the extremely difficult decision that its time to re-home him. We just don't have the time or capacity to give him the amount of love and attention he truly deserves so we're hoping to find him a new home that can. We'll send all of his items and adoption is free. We just want to find him a good home and avoid having to place him in a shelter.

Susie will chase cats when they run and may try and play rough with them. She is an active dog but calms down in the house..Susie would love a fenced in yard to play in. She will bark at things she sees went outside in the yard. She would not do good in an apartment.Susie would be a great family dog. HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.&#226&#128&#139 Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Minnie is a one-year-old, 28-pound Australian Shepherd, Miniature Schnauzer, Lab mix. She is delightful and has a wonderful temperament and disposition. You would not know by looking at her that she has had a very rough start in her young life. She is joyful and loving and would be a wonderful addition to any family. She will require a large, securely fenced yard with another calm, confident dog to chase and play with, as well as continue to teach her how to "dog." She has likely never been in a home, or on a leash prior to arriving at her foster home in February, but has progressed nicely since. She’s had several small foster fur siblings, that she plays well with. She loves all dogs! She also loves toys, chew toys, and running in the yard with the other pups. She is submissive with her fur siblings and has shown no aggressive behavior whatsoever. She is lovely all around, very intelligent, and completely house trained, but will need a patient adopter who will give her the time she needs to feel secure and gain confidence; someone who is home more often than not is preferred. She would benefit from obedience classes to continue her learning and socialization, as she is anxious upon meeting new people and in new situations; she will bark loudly when encountering someone new. She will need a securely fenced yard, and cannot be left outside unattended. She is working on her leash training and enjoys long walks and running alongside her foster mom on bike rides. She is young and energetic and will require an active family to keep her both physically and mentally stimulated to avoid unwanted behaviors like inappropriate chewing. Also, she may suffer from some separation anxiety, so she should not be left alone for long periods. She is very vocal, so will not be suited for an apartment. She is a young, active pup, but can also settle and cuddle on the couch once she’s had adequate mental and physical stimulation. She also enjoys co-sleeping with her foster family and takes up only a small area at the foot of the bed. Her fur is wiry, so she will shed. She has tested positive for Lyme disease, and completed a 30-day course of antibiotics. She has not been tested with children, but I suspect she will do well as she is gentle and loving. She is spayed and microchipped. If you think you might be the perfect fit for this special girl, please fill out an application.  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Story
Meet Gemma! **Gemma requires a physical fence, she is not a candidate for electric fence.** Gemma is a soulful Aussiepoo girl who weighs 18 lbs. and is as sweet as can be! She is taller and slender, and has a very graceful look about her. Gemma is an affectionate snuggler who loves anyone who will pet her. She loves to follow her foster mom everywhere she goes, and will sit on the couch or chair right by your side. Gemma has a low to medium energy level, especially for an older puppy. She loves to play gently with dogs her size or smaller, and her energy level is determined by her playmate. (Gemma likes to run if they run, or to lay next to them if they stop for a rest). She is a bit intimidated by bigger dogs and may bark at them. She does seem to bond more with one person than others, but is happy for anyone to love on her. Gemma hasn't necessarily had the best life, so if she is scared she will pancake (lay down) on occasion. She is very smart and loyal to her person, she wants to please. Gemma takes treats nicely and has done well on leash. She would prefer not to be crated for long hours, and needs a family who will let her sleep in their room (crated or in their bed). Gemma has just now learned about toys, and will play for short periods with stuffed squeaky toys; but she's more about paying attention to her person and being near them. PLEASE NOTE: Gemma's hair grows long and is curly, so she gets matted easily. She has a summer haircut now, but will need to be groomed every 4-6 weeks (even if it's a bath/brush out) to keep her skin healthy and her coat free of mats. This little Gem is sure to win your heart with her love, and be the best friend you have ever had!
