Story
Meet Brother Bear! Brother Bear is a 2-year-old Beagle mix with the softest eyes and the sweetest soul. He goes potty outside and is learning how to let you know when he needs to go out. He is crate trained and is still working on his leash manners, improving more each day. Brother Bear does well with other dogs and gets along nicely with the cats in his foster home. He’s a shy boy who is still learning that humans can be a safe and comforting presence, but once he trusts you, his gentle affection shines through. All he really wants is to be close to someone and have his ears scratched. While we’re still getting to know him, we do know that Brother Bear enjoys playtime and has already declared the tennis ball his favorite toy. He’s not a fan of loud noises or brand-new experiences just yet, but as a newer rescue, he’s still decompressing and learning that he is safe and loved now. The ideal home for Brother Bear is one where he will truly be included in everyday life—from meals to walks to quiet bedtime moments. He’s happiest when he can rest his sweet little face near his person and simply be part of the family. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will blossom with patience, love, and reassurance, Brother Bear is ready to find his forever place by your side.   Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Story
Siren is a calm, gentle, quiet girl who joined us from rural Kentucky. It appeared she had had very little human interaction when joining BAARK last year, but with time and patience, she has come out of her shell and has become a little more confident….but does have a ways to go. Siren is definitely a Mix Breed, possibly a Beagle-Heeler, with other breeds sprinkled in! She’s an estimated 32 lbs. born in January of 2021. This sweet girl enjoys the company of other dogs in her foster home, but prefers calm dogs. She can become startled by loud noises and quick movement but as her confident continues to grow, such things will likely not bother her. Siren is most likely to thrive in a quieter household consisting of adults. But older children, respectful of animals, would be good for Siren as well. She’d really enjoy the companionship of a calm, possibly older dog too. A secure fenced yard is also a plus. Siren is up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is believed to be housebroken as well. If you are interested in adding Siren to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, and adopts local to our area.

Story
Meet Lilly a sweet, gentle Beagle/Hound who joined us a few months ago, along with two of her sisters, all confiscated from a hoarding situation. She is just over a year old (est DOB 12-05-2023) and weighs about 28 lbs. In her foster home, Lilly is working on her social skills and, learning to become a dog! She enjoys playing with other dogs, and prefers to be with dogs, over people. Lilly may be ok with older children (over age 12) But she especially enjoys being with another dog. Lilly is looking to become part of a family that is patient, compassionate, and loving, and to living her best life in an environment that is calm and not overly hectic. Beagle/hound experience is a big plus. Because she enjoys being outside, a secure fenced (above ground) yard is very important to her. Lilly is not disposed to being an apartment dweller or living in a condo. She likes to bark and such environments would not be appropriate for her. Lilly is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. If you believe you are an ideal family for Lilly and would like to welcome her into your household, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895 for an adoption application and any specific questions about Tabby. Note that BAARK is located in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and adopt only local at our area.

Story
Meet Sundance – The Definition of Happiness! If happiness had a picture in the dictionary, it would be Sundance’s goofy face (and yes, those adorable floppy ears!). This 6-month-old hound mix is pure sunshine wrapped in fur — playful, loving, and always ready to make new friends.Sundance is still a pup, so he’s learning all the good stuff like potty training and crate time. Once he’s comfy, he sleeps soundly in his crate dreaming about his next adventure or maybe just snacks. He adores people, loves other dogs, and has enough energy to keep up with any fun-loving family! He’s looking for a forever home that will guide him with positive training, patience, lots of love and unlimited treats. In return, he promises endless tail wags, sloppy kisses, and a lifetime supply of joy.So, if you’re ready for a daily dose of happiness (and don’t mind being followed by a wagging tail), Sundance might just be your perfect match.Adopt happiness. Story
Meet Maisy, a devoted companion who truly believes there is no such thing as a stranger—only a friend she hasn`t met yet. Her love for people is boundless; she is happiest when she is by your side. While Maisy is an absolute social butterfly with humans, she may be selective or uncomfortable around other dogs, making her the perfect fit for a household where she can receive all the undivided attention she deserves. As an added bonus, Maisy is a dream on bath day. Unlike many pups who shy away from the tub, she handles grooming with ease and grace, staying calm and cooperative throughout her scrub. If you are looking for a loyal, people-oriented partner who is as easy to care for as she is to love, Maisy is waiting for you.Call Helping Paws to meet Maisy. D.O.B: 1-5-22

Story
The Drunken Beagles came to us after being rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case where 45 beagles (including a litter of puppies) were discovered living together in a single garage. Their world had been small and crowded, filled with the sounds and smells of dozens of other dogs but not much else. Most had never felt grass beneath their paws, slept on a bed, or experienced the warmth of human care. Despite their past, these dogs are resilient. Many were fortunate enough to go straight into generous foster homes after transfer to our shelter, where they’re already starting to learn about safety, comfort, and companionship for the very first time. Adopting a dog from a hoarding situation can be one of the most challenging — and rewarding — experiences in rescue. These dogs are learning about life from the ground up: that hands can be gentle, food will always come, leashes can mean adventure, and people can be trusted. Everyday sights and sounds — stairs, vacuums, even televisions — may feel strange or scary at first. Progress can be slow, but watching them open up is nothing short of extraordinary. Reports from our fosters so far are that the Drunken Beagles are quickly becoming more comfortable, exploring their new digs, eating solid meals, and a few even playing with the resident dogs in the home. The Drunken Beagles will need a calm, stable environment and adopters who understand that progress can be slow but so rewarding. They’re flight risks and will require extra care with secure handling, double leashing, and careful introductions to new people and spaces. Once they learn that home is safe, they return that trust tenfold — often becoming the most loyal, affectionate companions you could imagine. If your heart has room for a dog who’s never truly known what “home” feels like, one of the Drunken Beagles might just be ready to raise a glass to a brand-new start with you. And who knows... maybe you'll decide to order two drinks while you're at it. The ladies: Chardonnay, Stella Rose, Bloody Mary, Dirty Martini, Margarita, Mimosa, Mojito, Pink Whitney, and Sex on the Beach. The gentlemen: Beat Box, Buzz Ball, Coors, Daiquiri, Fireball, Piña Colada, Cosmopolitan, Gin, Johnny Walker, Martini, Monaco, Negroni, Sour, Tequila Sunrise, Tom Collins, and Whiskey. All are Beagle mixes estimated to be between one and six years old.
