Story
Tucker is a very loving dog that wants to be around people all the time. He was acquired from the Montgomery County Humane Society Animal Shelter in 2016 when he was about a year and half. Tucker is now 10 years old but still holds all that same energy as he did all those years ago. He is very friendly with all other dogs, but very instinct-heavy with cats (he thinks almost all other animals are for game hunting). We have tried training him to behave better with our cat in the house to no avail after several years. Tucker loves long walks and eating good (definitely will try to beg for food or maybe even steal your food if you're not looking). If you're looking for a dog that can go with you in any outdoor environment this is the dog for you.

Story
Doc was unfortunately returned to the rescue. This is Doc's updated bio as of 12/2024: Doc is a friendly, playful, and affectionate 6-year-old beagle mix with a heart of gold. He loves to be around people. His calm and gentle nature means he’s also fantastic with other dogs but he does best with initial decompression. Whether it’s playing in the yard, lounging on the couch, or simply following you around, Doc loves to be close to his humans and thrives in a loving, interactive environment. Favorite Activities: &#226&#151&#143 Playtime: Whether it's a game of fetch, tug-of-war, or a good chase in the backyard, he loves staying active and having fun with his family. &#226&#151&#143 Cuddling: He’s also a big fan of snuggling up after a long day, often seeking out your lap or curling up beside you to relax. Training and Behavior: Yes &#226&#151&#143 Potty-trained: Yes  &#226&#151&#143 Good with commands: Doc knows basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “come,” though like many dogs, he occasionally gets distracted by new smells or exciting sights. &#226&#151&#143 Social: He’s social with both people and other dogs, making him a perfect companion for outings, and playdates. Health: &#226&#151&#143 Neutered: He has been neutered and is up-to-date on vaccinations and preventative care. Ideal Home: Doc would thrive in a loving home where he can get plenty of attention, exercise, and cuddles. ------------ Original Bio from June 2020  Doc Hudson is an adorable 4 month old puppy that is now the only puppy left from his litter mates. We have no idea what breeds he is mixed with or how much he will shed. At best guess he is a hound terrier mix who could grow to be anywhere from 40-80 pounds. Doc Hudson is great with all dogs and loves all people. He is the perfect combination of playful and affectionate and would do great in any home that will provide the training that all puppies need. Story
Meet Violet! Violet may be one-eyed, blind and deaf, but don’t let that fool you ~ this girl is still living her best adventurous life. Found as a stray, Violet took to the skies on a volunteer flight to freedom at Miri's Haven. She loves strolling the yard, politely requesting pats and attention, and if fried chicken enters the house, she will locate it with shocking accuracy. Violet may be adorable, but she has standards: soft beds are required, fluffy blankets are mandatory, and rolling around in said blankets is a daily ritual. She is house trained when kept on a schedule and taken out regularly, and she's looking for a home without stairs. Or with a human servant prepared to carry her up and down like the Beagle Queen she is - either will do. Violet adores pets and attention, and absolutely loves food - and even the smell of it! This smart girl is food- and scent-motivated, and she's learning how much fun snuffle mats are. She especially loves snacking on dried sweet potato. Violet isn't leash-trained but loves to be outside, so she's looking for a home with a fenced in yard where she can do all the sniffing her heart desires. She'll do best in a family that can provide structure and a consistent routine. Violet is a great passenger in the car, sleeps soundly through the night, and doesn't mind staying home when her humans are out. She gets along well with everyone - kids, cats, and other dogs included. She needs daily eye drops but takes them easily like a great patient. Violet is a sweet old soul with a gentle heart and a nose that absolutely works overtime. She is so ready to bring her cozy, loving vibes into a forever home...could it be yours? Violet is approximately 12 years old and 20 lbs. Fostered in Severn, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

This adorable beagle mix (best guess) has already overcome more than most puppies ever should. Angel was rescued from an extremely overcrowded shelter in Georgia and went on to beat parvo, a virus that is often fatal to puppies. She has made a full recovery and is now healthy, happy, and thriving — ready to start the life she deserves. Angel is a sweet, loving, and playful young pup who enjoys being around people and loves other dogs. She has that classic puppy joy for life and is eager to learn, making her the perfect age for training and socialization. Whether it’s playtime, cuddle time, or learning new things, Angel is all in. Now all she’s missing is a family to call her own. If you’re looking for a resilient little pup with a heart of gold, Angel may be the one for you.
