Story
Doc was unfortunately returned to the rescue. This is Doc's updated bio as of 12/2024: Doc is a friendly, playful, and affectionate 4-year-old beagle mix with a heart of gold. He loves to be around people and is especially good with kids, making him an ideal family companion. His calm and gentle nature means he’s also fantastic with other dogs.. Whether it’s playing in the yard, lounging on the couch, or simply following you around, Doc loves to be close to his humans and thrives in a loving, interactive environment. Favorite Activities: &#226&#151&#143 Playtime: Whether it's a game of fetch, tug-of-war, or a good chase in the backyard, he loves staying active and having fun with his family. &#226&#151&#143 Cuddling: He’s also a big fan of snuggling up after a long day, often seeking out your lap or curling up beside you to relax. Training and Behavior: &#226&#151&#143 Potty-trained: Yes &#226&#151&#143 Good with commands: Doc knows basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “come,” though like many dogs, he occasionally gets distracted by new smells or exciting sights. &#226&#151&#143 Social: He’s social with both people and other dogs, making him a perfect companion for outings, dog parks, and playdates. Health: &#226&#151&#143 Neutered: He has been neutered and is up-to-date on vaccinations and preventative care. Ideal Home: Doc would thrive in a loving home where he can get plenty of attention, exercise, and cuddles. He would do well in a household with children or other dogs, as he’s always eager to make new friends and share the love.       ------------ Original Bio from June 2020  Doc Hudson is an adorable 4 month old puppy that is now the only puppy left from his litter mates. We have no idea what breeds he is mixed with or how much he will shed. At best guess he is a hound terrier mix who could grow to be anywhere from 40-80 pounds. Doc Hudson is great with all dogs and loves all people. He is the perfect combination of playful and affectionate and would do great in any home that will provide the training that all puppies need. Story
Meet Violet! Violet may be one-eyed, blind and deaf, but don’t let that fool you ~ this girl is still living her best adventurous life. Found as a stray, Violet took to the skies on a volunteer flight to freedom at Miri's Haven. She loves strolling the yard, politely requesting pats and attention, and if fried chicken enters the house, she will locate it with shocking accuracy. Violet may be adorable, but she has standards: soft beds are required, fluffy blankets are mandatory, and rolling around in said blankets is a daily ritual. She is house trained when kept on a schedule and taken out regularly, and she's looking for a home without stairs. Or with a human servant prepared to carry her up and down like the Beagle Queen she is - either will do. Violet adores pets and attention, and absolutely loves food - and even the smell of it! This smart girl is food- and scent-motivated, and she's learning how much fun snuffle mats are. She especially loves snacking on dried sweet potato. Violet isn't leash-trained but loves to be outside, so she's looking for a home with a fenced in yard where she can do all the sniffing her heart desires. She'll do best in a family that can provide structure and a consistent routine. Violet is a great passenger in the car, sleeps soundly through the night, and doesn't mind staying home when her humans are out. She gets along well with everyone - kids, cats, and other dogs included. She needs daily eye drops but takes them easily like a great patient. Violet is a sweet old soul with a gentle heart and a nose that absolutely works overtime. She is so ready to bring her cozy, loving vibes into a forever home...could it be yours? Violet is approximately 12 years old and 20 lbs. Fostered in Severn, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Minnie is pure joy with a wagging tail—and that tail does not lie. It waves enthusiastically for pets, walks, and any attention you’re willing to offer (the more, the better). She’s a one-dog household kind of lady who bonds deeply with her person. Minnie may take a little time to warm up, but once you’re chosen, you’re hers—in the best, most devoted way. 💛 At home, Minnie is a champion cuddler. She rotates between couch snuggles, napping at your feet, snoozing in a dog bed under the table, and taking long, peaceful crate naps. She crates beautifully and sleeps quietly all night. On leash, she’s all happy zoomies and puppy spirit. Off leash? Not yet—her beagle nose is too busy solving scent mysteries. She loves car rides, adores lap time, and gives Starbucks puppy whipped cream an enthusiastic five paws. A slight morning limp from arthritis reminds you she’s a “seasoned” pup, but once she gets moving, Minnie is all sunshine, curiosity, and wagging devotion. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow with a big heart and a bigger tail wag, Minnie is ready to curl right into your life. 🐾💛 Minnie is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $250 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. Story
Meet Freddie! Freddie Mercury (aka Freddie) is an adorable, very happy sweetheart! Look at that smiling face with the expressive eyes! He is about 3 years old, 26 pound, brown and white color beagle. Freddie loves to go for walks with LOTS of sniffing along the way; he is lively, playful, but also can settle down nicely. He does well in new situations, likes to cuddle and gives sweet "kisses" to his humans, and does well hanging with doggie friends. He is the typical adorable beagle! If you are looking for a very sweet, happy dog, Freddie may be the one for you! Freddie was found as a stray and ended up at a rural North Carolina shelter; we can only imagine how he wondered why his family did not come find him and take him home. He is so happy that PetConnect has come to his rescue and brought him to the DC area to find a forever family that will give him the attention that he deserves and never abandon him to such a scary place as a kill-shelter ever again. Freddie is crate trained. He loves his food and is learning commands (especially if food is involved). He would be a great companion. ***Please note that the first step is to fill out an application (It does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Freddie is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. For more information, please email Robin at rturner @petconnectrescue.org or kinstondogs@verizon.net **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**
