He is a champion runner and is a great training companion. He also would make a phenomenal working dog- obedience, tracking, agility, rally - the possibilities are endless!Frogger is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. Story
Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen. I can't wait to meet you and start this exciting new chapter together! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Hi, I'm Beauregard! I'm still young and full of energy. I'm an 8 month old Beagle/Coonhound mix (best guess). I love to play and I'm as sweet as can be. I've got a voice and I'm not afraid to use it, especially when I want to show you how much I love you. I might be in a shelter now, but I'm dreaming of a home where I can run, play, and be loved. I promise to bring joy and laughter into your life with my playful antics and sweet nature. Adopting me means gaining a loyal, loving companion who will always be by your side. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2087722##

Story
June is the whole package. She LOVES humans of all ages and sizes, lives with cats peacefully, and is great with other dogs. She's so good with other dogs, in fact, that she's the one who gets paired with the shy dogs in order to make them feel safe and learn how to be happy, playful pups. She's very good at matching her play style to others and reading their body language. She would do perfectly fine either with or without another dog in the home, as long as she's got people to give her all the belly rubs and love. She's a total lap dog, and just loves being close to her people when it's time to relax. When it's time to play, she loves tennis balls and all the other toys she's been introduced to, and she loves sprinting around the yard with her friends. Indoors, June is a quiet girl, and has been perfectly potty trained since day one. Yes, she sounds too good to be true, but that's June for you! Bonus: If you're looking for a pair of pups to add to your home, June already knows and lives happily with Mattie and would love to be adopted with her friend! It's certainly not a requirement, but we felt it was worth mentioning as an option for those looking for multiples. June is estimated to be 2 years old and 30 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events! Story
Dot is a friendly little girl who loves pets and attention. She is smaller than she looks and does great with other dogs. She is doing awesome getting around on three legs. She does well on a leash. She sleeps in her foster moms bed or on one of the dog beds. She gets free run of the house when the human's are gone and does great! She is a sweet snuggly girl who just wants to be with her human all the time. Dot is estimated to be two years old and 27 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. Story
I am Dahlia and my foster mom loves that I am affectionate and trusting. I am a special girl and wish for an active and happy family to share my life with. You should know that I do not have accidents inside. I am potty trained and go outside and will typically sit by the door or join my foster sister when she goes outside. I love going for walks and doing all right on my leash. I love being outside really like to lay in the grass on nice days. I enjoy toys too, and love to play. I also do well with children who are nice, respect me and like to play. Currently I don't stay in a crate at all. I sleep in my dog bed at night. My foster mom is retired and home most of the time and so far, I have not given her any reason to contain me. My foster family is setting good examples and showing me how to do well here with them. We have started working on basic commands like sit and stay. I do not jump up on people, but I do like to greet them. My foster sister and her two feline siblings all like me. We have had an easy time getting to know each other. I look forward to meeting all kinds of folks at the Meet & Greet events coming up. I could not be more ready to join my forever home and start having fun with you! Dahlia is estimated to be 2 years old and 24 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown.
