I am Messi. I am from Arkansas. From the foster: Messi is very sweet and very smart! It's been a pleasure to work with her this past week. She's learned not to be afraid of cars, to walk on a leash in the city, to chase a ball, to ride in the car and stay in her seat, to go to the dog park (and to leave willingly), and so much more. She came to me extremely sheltered, but her curiosity and smarts have really led her start enjoying the world. She's still a puppy and has yet to learn how to potty outside. She's crate and pad trained, and working on going outside - we've had a few triumphs at the dog park! She's very quiet, a little submissive and unsure about a lot of things - but loving and playful. She LOVES people and other dogs, and would do best with another dog friend, and a fenced yard to show to her how it's done. She's a pleasure to be around! Messi needs firm, consistent direction and communication - she responds really quickly to this. Once she gets the basics down, she could really excel in the tricks department. When she knows what to do, she really listens, and responds quickly. She also LOVES other dogs, she's very playful, and loves to run at the High Bridge dog park, in Saint Paul. Having another dog and a fenced yard will go a long way in getting her away from the potty pads.

Hi! I'm Rufus! I'm from Alabama! From his foster: Rufus is a sweet and spunky guy. Gets along great with his foster siblings. A little shy when first meeting humans but warms quickly. Loves cuddles and walkies. It does take some convincing him to settle in his crate but once there he sleeps through the night. He loves having a puppy sibling. Have not Introduced him yet to kids or cats. Foster Update: Rufus is doing great! Sweet and affectionate. Quiet but will chime in with his foster sisters when the turkeys walk by. Has the cutest funky ear that just adds to his personality. Loves his 30# sisters, would be great as an only pup as well. Hasn't been around kids as of now. Lap dog. Crate trained. Has had a couple of accidents but doing well with house training review. Loves walkies and does well on the leash.

Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen.
