Story
Hi, my name is DeeDee. I am from Alabama. DeeDee is blossoming more each day now that she’s had time to settle in. She can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her sweet personality shines through. She loves to follow her people around, curl up near your feet, and soak up all the pets she can get. This lovely girl is potty trained and crate trained, and she sleeps soundly in her crate at night. DeeDee enjoys spending time outdoors in a fenced area and is comfortable with just a few steps down from the house—she’s still building confidence with full flights of stairs, and her future family can help her continue that journey at her own pace. Quiet, gentle, and incredibly easy to have around, DeeDee is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart before you even realize it’s happened. She is a beautiful soul who is so deserving of a loving home and a wonderful second chance. From the Vet: DeeDee was staged for heartworm treatment at her initial vet exam while in rescue. During that exam we found a few additional medical conditions that her future home should consider to make sure she is living her best life! She has fairly advanced arthritis in her back and some in her knees. She may need joint supportive supplements and or possibly pain meds as she ages. Her heartworm disease is considered stage 2; Everything appeared normal on chest radiographs and blood work showed no sign of active heart disease. She does have a grade 2/6 heart murmur. TBB will not pursue further cardiology work up at this time, but this should be monitored in the future after heartworm treatment. I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family. TBB will also agree to cover DeeDee's Spay and Dental surgery that should be scheduled 30-40 days after heartworm treatment along with 1 round of medications and 1 recheck appointment as determined necessary by The Bond Between medical team.

Story
Kady is ready to find her forever home filled with love, cuddles, and fun. With a gentle, curious nature, this little one brings joy wherever they go. They love human attention and thrive on companionship—learning new things or curling up for a cozy nap nearby. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate puppy to grow up with and make memories alongside, this little one may be the perfect match. Kady is estimated to be 3.5 months old and 12 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events! Please note: All dogs/puppies will not be at every event, and some may find their home prior to the event. If you are interested in a specific animal, please check our Facebook page for confirmed attendance the morning of the event: https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/ You do not need to have a Facebook account to check the Safe Hands Facebook page for attendance. We hope to see you at an upcoming Meet & Greet! Tenuto (Toots for short!) is a sweet boy who has lots of energy but will also cuddle up with you to watch a movie. Story
Rollie was surrendered after his owner died. He had never lived inside until he came into rescue. He is now house and crate trained. He does love to run and play and hide his bones outside. He had very little socialization with other dogs and is a little dog selective (prefers females more than males). He's more of a loner than most. He has always been crated inside to avoid the mischief a beagle tends to get into with chewing items he isn't supposed to be chewing. It is more for his safety of not swallowing anything harmful. He will bark to let you know when he needs to go potty. He has been completely vetted. He deserves a home of his own to retire in and enjoy the rest of his life. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please email us for the link to the adoption application.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $600 plus tax Finch is an absolute sweetie who is going to bring you so much joy. He’s a fast learner, and with a little more TLC I have no doubt he will grow into an amazing dog!As a puppy, Finch is learning many important life skills right now. One area we’re working on that isn’t listed in the ‘training section’ above is functional relaxation. Functional relaxation means Finch is learning how to be comfortable and settled on his own. Most of the time, I don’t allow him to follow me from room to room, and he doesn’t have constant access to my lap. Instead, he’s rewarded for relaxing in his dog bed or nearby while I go about my day. We still spend plenty of time together (and yes, he absolutely does get snuggle time!), but he’s also learning that being independent and relaxed is safe and rewarding. This is a very normal and healthy part of puppy development and training, and this sets him up for success as an adult dog by helping prevent clinginess and separation anxiety. He is awesome & doing great! Please reach out with any questions, or to schedule a meet and greet with Finch!    * Puppies under 5 months should not be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time to help them with potty training and socialization.   If you have previously applied with us please email placement@midwestanimalrescue.org to reactivate your application with new interest.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history. //

He’s a sweet guy who craves a connection and looks for eye contact while he’s snuggling in for a cuddle. He’s easy going and barks very little in the house. He’s mostly potty trained (2 slip ups on his first day). Elmer does well on a leash and loves walks. He’s good with kids though would thrive as a constant companion in a relaxed environment.
