Dog Day Out notes from last week: Today, I was so happy to get out of my kennel! I got to put on a collar and harness, and I got to go in a car!! I love the car! I wanted to help drive, but my new friends said I should eat cookies instead, so I looked out the window. I love going for walks! We walked a long way! I wanted to be in front, but my friends would stop, so I got to give them snuggles when they did that – I like snuggles more than cookies! We saw so many things! People and dogs and lots and lots of bikes! I don't worry about those things though, I have my friends! I almost tried to catch a squirrel, but it got away. That's okay; I gave more snuggles to my friends! Oh! And on the way back, I took a nap – I loved the quiet time. Three Words to Describe Me are affectionate – snuggly - and friendly. Notes from My Walker: Traviesa is such a delight! She pulls on the leash, but it seems like she just never got a chance to learn how to walk on a leash before. She did amazing on the busy trail – we saw bikes, walkers, and dogs, and she was non-reactive to almost everything. The small, barky dog got her attention, but he started talking first, and she displayed interest, with no reactive lunging or barking. She is not a cookie girl, but she LOVES to snuggle. We love it when dogs on the trail check in with their human friends, but Traviesa was at another level; she would stop and lean in for a hug before continuing the walk! She is a sweet, gentle, loving dog who deserves a home that will let her learn and give her the chance to be a fantastic companion dog.

Hi - I am Kona - a mix of German Shepherd and something else - I am smart but don`t shed like a GSD. My owner brought me to the shelter when he could no longer take care of me because I had babies and we didn`t have a place to live. I was a good mama and all the babies are gone so now I am ready for my new home. A nice lady is letting me stay at her house (foster mom). She says that I have the PERFECT inside manners and medium energy with a good yard to run around. I LOVE my crate - I sleep it in during the day and put myself to bed at nightShe let`s me free in the house while she runs errands -- I leave all her things alone.When she opens the door for packages, she taught me to `settle` on my pillow so I don`t go to the door. When she is on conference calls, I sleep well on my office pillow and occasional nudge her to get petted. I can use the doggy door to go to the yard. Being in the yard is my favorite - I love to pretend someone is chasing me - it is a fun game. I run really fast around you and then come in for belly rubs! I also like to chase my favorite squeeky ball. I ignore all the noisy dogs next door that bark all the time - but let the squirrels know that this is my yard.I know sit, paw, wait, eat and I am working on down with a nice treat. It will take me a few tries but I am a fast learner for the treats.The car is another favorite place and I am very quiet. I start by looking out the window but settle on the backseat on the freeway.I have a good stomach and can eat most dog food and I don`t beg for your dinner.I LOVE giving kisses and would be happy to snuggle with you but my foster mom won`t let me on the couch. My perfect home would be one where I am the only dog. Some dogs scare me but others are fine. Some other things scare me too - so please be patient while I figure it out: shadows or dark places and strangers coming into the house. My foster mom helps calm me down with treats and I stay in my crate until I am calmer.I would love a couple or family to hang out with and watch TV who has a backyard where I can play with you. I don`t need much outdoor time maybe a couple of 15 minutes sessions a day -- and I am quite happy to hangout by myself.

Beautiful Wanda and her siblings were on Monday 12/8/25 shelter PTS list. She is only 9 mos old and social friendly. Yet SASA is euthanizing many friendly and healthy young dogs weekly due to capacity issues. Shelter is over-loaded daily by irresponsible owners that dump their dogs. Worse now during Holiday month when many are away on vacations. So the poor innocent dogs have less time at this shelter. Her brother was adopted last minute. Wanda had no options left so we tagged her to rescue her. Volunteers and staff adore her. She is super friendly dog friendly and smart. Needs basic training. She has mix of two very intelligent athletic and devolted brave breeds. Ready to learn and be your BFF for life. Loves toys knows sit for treats and is playful. Will play with her mouth but soft. Great hiking and walking buddy. Will probably enjoy any fun or working you both may like. Smart dog. We will emergency board her to save her life while we search for an experienced foster home. More info. to come. Update at her Foster Home: She is smart affectionate dog and people friendly. Loves to play ball go on walks & hikes lounging on sofa chair well behaved at home crate trained and very treat /food motivated. She is a sweetie. Everyone she meets always fall in love with her. Wanda is waiting for her forever loving and active forever home. She has a strong prey drive so no cats. She can be nippy (herding dog) when she wants attention or to play. So no kids. Need experienced guardian to guide her. Quiet in crate. Going to teen dog personality. Need foster home ASAP due to foster home returning back to work.
