Story
Baxter will be one year old January 27,2026. I acquired Baxter from a friend whose niece brought him home without her mother’s permission.. A couple in an apartment had to get rid of him because pets were not allowed. I said that I will take him because I had recently lost my dog Bailey after 13.5 years. Baxter is extremely active and needs to be in a home that’s fenced in. He is super active and must be able to run and play most of the day. I work remotely as a bookkeeper and can’t entertain him most of the day. My home is not fenced in. He will be great with children and other dogs to keep him entertained. He’s pad trained for number two only. He has all his shots and he has been neutered. He is a good playful puppy that needs active people in his life.

Montana is an affectionate 4-year-old Lab/Pit mix who’s ready to be your loyal companion for life. This sweet girl is a fetch fanatic who lives for playtime and loves nothing more than chasing balls with her favorite humans. She’s both treat and toy motivated and ready to learn new tricks. Montana gets along fine with other dogs, but she’s truly a people-focused pup who wants to be your number-one play partner. On a recent Doggie Day Out adventure, she proved to be a calm car passenger and a wonderful trail companion. She enjoys sniffy walks and likes to lead the way without pulling on the leash. Though Montana can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly with patience (and a few tasty treats). Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys gentle petting and cuddle time with her friends. If you can toss a tennis ball, you’re already in her inner circle! Montana was placed on final because shelter life has become overwhelming for her. Repeated encounters with unfamiliar people reaching into her kennel have left her feeling uneasy, and she may growl or show her teeth to ask for space. STABBED BY HIS OWNER, NOW HES ALL ALONE Rescue preferred This is not the life Buster deserves to be living Buster came to the shelter in July after being stabbed by his owner with a sword. He was seen by an offsite vet, his owner was arrested, and he has been here as evidence ever since. His owner’s case was dismissed due to a lack of evidence (unfortunately), and Buster is now FINALLY able to leave the shelter after being cooped up in a kennel for over FIVE MONTHS. We prefer that Buster goes to a rescue, as we do not want Buster to ever have to go back to the person who did this to him— he deserves better. He deserves love. Buster’s story is sad, but please do not bring him into your home unprepared just because his story tugs at your heart. Anyone who takes Buster home needs to be prepared for a long and potentially rocky and frustrating decompression process. Being in a shelter for so long is not easy and takes a toll on a dog’s psyche (and behaviors). He needs space and grace to heal. Currently, Buster’s mind is all over the place so it takes him a bit to connect with people because he is just too overwhelmed. He needs someone who understands that it may not be love at first sight. Someone patient who will not necessarily shower him with love but will give him structure, boundaries, and a safe place to rest his bones. Buster seems to want to be with dogs, but again, he needs to decompress. He lacks manners and shows some dominant behaviors, possibly due to how stressed he is. We cannot say for sure how his opinion of dogs and behaviors toward them will change once he is in a home, but currently he would do best with SLOW intros (decompression!!!!) and a tolerant, friendly dog. ##2619651##

Hi&#44 Im Baxter!<br/><br/>Life didnt start out easy for me. I came from a pretty unsanitary situation before Atlanta Humane rescued me and showed me what kindness feels like. Im still learning how to be a dog and trust people&#44 but underneath my cautious side is a heart thats so ready to love. Once I feel safe&#44 youll see how sweet and affectionate I can be!<br/><br/>Im most confident when I have another dog buddy around. They help me learn and remind me that the world isnt such a scary place. Id do best with a patient family who understands that I just need a little time to settle in. In return&#44 I promise to give you all the love Ive been saving up. I cant wait to run&#44 play&#44 and just enjoy being a happy dog&#44 especially with another canine friend by my side!<br/><br/>I qualify for Welcome Trial.

Hi everybody, this is Hazel—because she has the prettiest, most expressive Hazel eyes.  She is a sweet girl who is both highly alert and intelligent. She gets along well with other dogs but is wary of new people choosing to study them closely before. Her foster mom says that letting people prove that they are trustworthy is a good policy. Hazel is a high-energy dog who is also quite affectionate when given the time and opportunity to bond with deserving people. Toys and playtime are more important to her than treats, so she needs someone who has time to throw a ball for her. She is SO much fun! Boss man has been with me since birth. He was the alpha pup of my parents' family pet, Diamond. Unfortunately, I'm at a point in my life where i need to relocate, but i just am not able to accommodate him on this transition. I've gone back and forth with myself about this decision for about 5 years. i honestly don't want to give him up for adoption but my current situation has forced me to decide. I have run out of time and options. So hopefully. Someone. With the time and the space. We'll be willing to take him in as he is a very seasoned house house dog.
